3. 10. A summary of the best viewpoints that may be useful to our documentary:
1. The majority of jobs ask for experience which makes it almost impossible to get.
2. It is not fair that these university fees are being set by people who had the
opportunity for free and thus don’t know how severe the effects will be on our futures.
3. I don’t think the university fees will affect people too much as they have to earn so
much before beginning to pay it back.
4. Most jobs offered now are temporary or part time which makes it hard to plan for a
secure future.
5. I think education is absolutely vital to the country’s efficiency and development.
6. Not all of the education system needs to be revised and reformed, but the huge gap
between the levels of quality in education does need to be.
7. Eventually degrees will lose their value as the majority of people will have them and
the government will continue trying to extend education to replace it, but this does not
tackle the lack of jobs available.
8. Depression and stress is becoming an increasing problem, often due to work, this
will cause a problem when people have to work longer.
9. If the government allowed the people that wanted to retire early, that would open
up jobs for the younger people.
10. Extending compulsory education and cutting funds for the creative subjects will
increase depression in young people, possible increase drug abuse and crime levels
with young people.
11. Teachers and police are not given any power for discipline anymore, and without
help parenting skills are decreasing, meaning young people are not scared of anything,
even prison sentences as they are often too lenient and the person is likely to get out
early for ‘good behaviour’ anyway.
Other significant points from out questionnaire:
A lot of the people in our questionnaire stated they were in further/higher
education and unemployed.
For the questions on whether they have or would watch a documentary of this
nature, the results showed a correlation between the age range of people that
would include, parents, people starting university and people finishing
education and possible trying to start their careers. This could suggest that it is
the people who are concerned about their own or their children’s futures
within university and employment.
