LESSON 1: JUDGE THE RELEVANCE AND WORTH OF IDEAS, SOUNDNESS OF AUTHOR’S REASONING AND THE
EFFECTIVENESS OF THE PRESENTATION
As we try to gather information from various sources of platforms to keep us updated, our capability to judge the truthfulness
and relevance of ideas is imperative. We must remember that before we believe the articles or materials we have obtained;
we should check first it is factual or misleading. Thus, we must know the different tips on how factual or truthful information
from a faulty one.
 RELEVANCE – is how appropriate something is to what is being said at a given time.
 TRUTH – is something that has been proven by facts or sincerity.
Tips on how to spot Factual or Truthful Information
1. CONSIDER THE SOURCE – investigate the site you are viewing or reading.
Example: Inquirer.net ABS-CBN News/ 24 oras/CNN Manila Bulletin
Rappler DCWT/Bombo Radio Websites with .edu, .org
ScienceMag New York Times Wall Street Journal
2. READ BEYOND – (supporting details) headlines can be outrageous in an effort to get clicks, so you should focus
on the whole story. You have to read and look for details such as statistics, quotes, data.
- provide information to clarify, prove, or explain the main idea.
- some extra hints; it MIGHT begin with some of the following words: for example, for instance,
in addition, another, in fact, furthermore, as a result, first, second, next, finally, last etc.
Example:
Statistics – 60% died of COVID, 456 students drop outs from school, 3 out of 10 pass the LET
Details – MAIN IDEA: The spread of Fake news online is widespread.

programs to make it more responsive
to the times, more than half of school
facilities needing repairs, private
schools closing down, and the need
for a more inclusive system. These issues and more are facing learners and teachers, said Vice President and Education
Secretary Sara Duterte in her report on the basic education system on Monday.
Duterte said that out of 327, 851 school buildings, 189, 324 need repairs, including over 89, 000 needing major work. Of these
structures, 21, 727 are no longer safe. With around 28.4 million enrollees for 2022-2023, there was a substantial decline in
private school enrolment, resulting in some 1, 600 private schools closing down. Duterte also mentioned inclusivity issues
where education is not available to learners from indigenous peoples in isolated and poor areas.
“We need to improve their participation rate in basic education,” she said.

Vlog stands for a video blog or video log, and refers to a type of blog where most or all of the content is in a video format.
Vlog posts consists of creating a video of yourself where you talk on a particular subject such as reporting or reviewing a
product or an event. Follow the rubric below on doing your blog.

Vlog posts consists of creating a video of yourself where you talk on a particular subject such as reporting or reviewing a product or an event. Follow the rubric below on doing your blog.
