2. A former women's basketball coach at
Oakland University in Michigan, Beckie

and off the court. A voice for survivors of

3. Named after childhood sexual assault survivor
Erin Merryn, Erin's Law seeks to provide recourse
to the millions of survivors of childhood sexual
abuse in America. By the time they reach 18
years old, one out of four girls and one out of
six boys are sexually abused in the United
States. Merryn's experiences with rape and
incest inspired her to write Stolen Innocence:
Triumphing over a Childhood Broken by Abuse:
A Memoir, which was published in 2005 when
she was a senior in high school. The impact of
the book led to her become an activist and
promote the passage of Erin's Law.

a standard teaching certificate applicants

Erin's Law has been adopted by 11
additional states, and 25 state legislatures
have introduced it for debate.
