Time of flight (ToF) sensors are preferred over other sensors due to their simplicity, efficiency, speed, cost effectiveness, and ease of installation. ToF sensors have various applications including 3D scanning and modeling, agriculture monitoring from drones, depth and distance measurements, industrial scanning, security through people counting, and object detection. However, limitations of ToF sensors include relatively high power consumption and heat generation during operation, as well as depth measurement accuracy of only about 1 cm.
