1. Q&A
Q) You’ve come along way since your last interview with SOLO;it’s fair to say 2011 was an eventful
year for you Tom?
A) It has been a crazy year! If you’d have told me I’d have 4 number 1s under my belt this time last
year I’d have laughed in your face.
Q) It has been pretty non-stop for you since you’re currently touring the UK. How are you finding life
on the road?
A) I love it! Before I got my record deal I was up and down the country playing random gigs in pubs
and clubs so it’s nice to return to some of those cities but at sold out venues. And of course,
performing makes me feel more connected to my fans. It’s nice to be able to see the faces of the
people who have got me to where I am now.
Q) You’re a very down to earth, relaxed guy despite all the hype and fame. Who helps to keep you
grounded?
A) My family definitely. I think if I became too much of a ‘diva’ my dad would crack me across the
back of my head haha! They’re very supportive and always have been. My girlfriend too, though
she’s not over keen on the bras launched my way on stage!
Q) Your album features a few collaborations with up and coming stars. Is there a big-name act you’d
be interested in collaborating with in the future?
A) Definitely Rihanna! Not only is she talented, but she’s easy on the eyes too!
Q) She enjoys partying just as much as you it would seem! What is your take on the recent criticism
of your party lifestyle?
A) I think a lot of the tabloids forget I’m only 21. It’s not an abnormal thing for me to go out and have
drinks with friends. They come up with these shit stories about me ‘going off the rails’ because they
can’t come up with anything more creative. I pity the likes of Britney Spears who is constantly
pestered by paparazzi.
Q) Are you working on any new material to be released in the near future?
A) Yes! I’m working on my new album at the minute. Any free time I have had over the past couple
of months has been spent in the studio. I can’t give too much away or the label will beat me, but
there are some very cool tracks on it.
Q) We’ll look forward to hearing it! Finally, what is your current favourite album you’d highly
recommend SOLO readers gave a listen to?
A) This one is tough. I’d highly recommend giving any Damien Rice album a listen to. He’s a very
skilled song writer. And then more recently, Professor Green, Connor Penson or Jessie J is always a
good listen.
