Relationship Between Hannibal And Lecter
In Hannibal, there is a different kind of partnership as previously examined. This partnership between the second and the protagonist is dark and
manipulative. NBC's Hannibal is a psychological thriller–horror television series developed by executive producer and show runner Bryan Fuller. The
focus on the friendship between FBI special investigator Will Graham, played by actor Hugh Dancy, and Dr.Hannibal Lecter, played by actor Mads
Mikkelsen. Graham presents a chance for a romantic connection, as well as a chance for Lecter to find someone who understands him. Lecter's
fascination with Graham may originate from him discovering a younger mirror image of himself, and the opportunity to toy with this younger version
and get inside his head. Fuller states, "Hannibal sees something in Will Graham that he also sees in himself. They're both unique and they're crazy"
(Fuller). Over the show, Graham slowly starts losing grip on his reality but FBI Special Agent, Jack Crawford, sees Graham's empathy disorder as
something he can use to help others so he keeps Graham on the team. However, Lecter does not want Graham to self–destruct because that would mean
losing his only chance at having another person who could understand him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lecter may not be able to feel any sincere emotion of shame, guilt, or remorse, but he is still a human. For Lecter, while he seems determined to
become Graham's most cunning enemy, this opportunity for an understanding is the closest thing to love he can find. There is something in him that
desires to be understood, or in part at least acknowledged. This acknowledgment has less to do with the notion of love but more with connection.
Lecter does not seek approval from Graham, but seeks someone who can understand his thought process and "design" the way Graham is capable

The Shawshank Redemption In The Movie : Silence Of The Lambs
Think back, what are some of the most memorable movies that you have ever watched? The Shawshank Redemption may immediately come to mind,
or perhaps Forrest Gump might barge through that door first. Regardless of your answer to the question previously posed, there were reasons why
those two examples captivated people the way that they did and still do. Timeless movies all happen to share one thing in common, they have the
capability to leave a profound message on its viewers. By eloquently excavating the core of the human being, the directors main goal of hijacking your
attention, is successfully achieved. In the 1991 psychological thriller, Silence of the Lambs, director Johnathan Demme does not fail to fall short of
reaching these means. By triggering our primal instincts in fear, fornication, and the fight or flight response, this nearly three–decade old movie still
leaves viewers trembling and hearts quivering.
Silence of the Lambs begins with the spotlight on a female FBI trainee named Clarice Starling. While in Quantico, Virginia, completing her training to
work for the bureau, she gets contacted by her superior, Agent Jack Crawford. Upon talking to Crawford, he assigns Starling the daunting task of
questioning the infamous, cannibalistic murderer Dr. Hannibal Lecter. The purpose of her interrogation is to gain firsthand insight into the mind of a
killer; in the hopes that the info she gathers will help unravel the case of an active serial killer named Buffalo Bill. Starling follows his orders and
arrives at Dr. Hannibal Lecter's cell at a mental ward. The intellectually advanced Dr. Lecter ends up not taking kindly to her analyzing, and
eventually asks her to leave. However, upon walking away from his cell, an inmate decides to throw his unborn children onto Starling's hair. Lecter
notices this and out of compassion, he decides to give her another chance to question him. This time around things go a lot smoother, and Lecter,
even offers her a promising lead. Dr. Hannibal Lecter's information leads to a storage shed where Clarice Starling discovers a severed head with a
Sphinx moth lodged in its throat. After her discovery, she is informed by Lecter that this was in fact one of Buffalo Bill's victims.

gives me the impression that the dragon is flying and hovering over the woman. The intensity of light around the woman's dress creates a very earthy
feel. The dragon's powerful appearance is very demonic. Not only is his head surrounded by two huge horns;

Hannibal Lecter Essay
The character I choose to do my clinical diagnosis is Dr. Hannibal Lecter, from the movie The Silences of the Lambs, which is played by Anthony
Hopkins. Dr. Hannibal is a psychopath serial killer who uses charm, manipulation, intimidation, and violence to control his victims and others to satisfy
his own selfish needs. Because he lacks a conscience and feelings for others, he cold–bloodily takes what he wants and does what he pleases, violating
social norms and expectations without the slightest sin of remorse, guilt, or regret. Also Dr. Lecter suffered from Post–Traumatic Stress Disorder,
which explains some of his other actions as psychopath serial killer. One of the biggest traits of psychopath serial killer is their inability to ... Show

They usually hate their parents. Almost every serial killer is abused as a child, whether it is sexually, emotionally, physically, or psychologically.
This abuse may come from a stranger or a family member, but many serial killers try to lie about this history of abuse. Most serial killers have
records of early psychiatric problems and often spent time in institutions as children (i.e.: mental hospitals or psychological rehabilitation centers).
They have an intense interest in voyeurism, fetishism, and sadomasochistic porn at a very early age, and they also have a very high rate of
suicide attempts. Future serial killers share three other traits in their childhoods. More than sixty precent of serial killers wet their beds past the
age of twelve. They also have a fascination with fire, which may be an early manifestation of their fondness for mass destruction. In addition,
almost every serial killer starts his abuse and sadistic torture on animal victims (Fisher and Fisher, 2003). In the movie Lecter listens to classical
music, knows art, and has vivid memory of beautiful places that he's traveled to, the places he has seen the picture for example, of Claires Sterling
and of France. I found him to be very intelligent because of the way he committed his murders and the way he could read you like a book and know

Wings Of Fire: The Dragonet Prophecy
Deep book pitch Wings of Fire The Dragonet Prophecy The seven dragon tribes have been at war for generations, locked in an endless battle over an

Red Dragons: A Short Story
It was easy to say that the dragon enjoyed every little bit of terror he caused in her, even as he backed down and ceased hostilities, he had won after
all, and that predatory relish had not faded. After he got back he planned to finish off that poor beast unless his people had already incinerated the
remains. The others had undoubtedly heard the gunshots and were likely more confused as to why no screams followed as to anything. His line of
thoughts however found themselves brought back to the moment by her rather sudden shout. He did not react outwardly to her shout, being in
mid–step when she made it, but he did pause and turn just enough to register the expression of regret on her face. He turned more. She wasn't armed

The scholars of old attributed this to a magical persuasive or even a mind control ability. Of course, modern day humanity might see things quite
differently. Perhaps there was no inherent magical nature to the dragon, but really, if a dragon approaches and tells someone to do something,
they are unlikely to be foolish enough to refuse. Tal himself did not remember the old days, nor did he care, in this society, even if he had such a
power, it would not be needed, he did have a perverse charisma in this world almost tailored for him, a strength that drew others to him despite the
risks. Looming over her, the Dragon smirked, lip lifting enough to show off a single of his impressive fangs. "I have certainly proven my gang's
strength and their loyalty is without question" He said, his voice lowering to a rumble. "You do certainly have what it takes, I will give you that;
bold, brash, and you are a good shot" He briefly flexed his right wing – her shot had dented a couple scales and certainly would have caused a bruise on
him were he capable of bruising there. "You meet the qualifications, and my own preference" His smirk widened, there was indeed a bit of attraction

Dragons In J. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit
What does the word "dragon" mean to us? Generally, if one is asked this question, the response would be "unintelligent dangerous weapons of
destruction". However, this is not the case in J.R.R Tolkien's "The Hobbit", nor is it true for the early mythology of dragons. Instead, this modern
definition is replaced with one of, "greedy, intelligent beings with human characteristics". Hence, a question arises as to why the image of dragons has
been drastically downgraded throughout literature? To answer this question, I will first begin by isolating passages from Tolkien's "The Hobbit" in an
attempt to describe certain features of Smaug the magnificent. Afterwards, I will partake in exemplifying the written style of dragons in the history of
literature... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Traditional dragons were portrayed when the certain writers have been able to preserve the wonder of the creatures. Whereas, modern dragons are
illustrated when select stories have implemented new components that have served as counter–productive as depicted by the Harry Potter series which
relegates the true plot potential of these beasts. Additionally, these modern dragons tend to be obstacles for the main hero to overcome, which is a stark
contrast from the traditional dragons. Therefore, for what reason have writers decided to downgrade the beasts? Unerman (2002) puts forth the belief
that "fictional evil is more convincing and more frightening when people, not dragons, are the true enemy" (pg. 100). In addition, another argument
could be made in that dragons such as Smaug will overshadow the main human villain, therefore, by downgrading the beasts to simple plot obstacles, it
allows for the dragons not to overshadow the main villain, and I cannot accept either argument. Suggesting that "humanity" allows for more engaging
villains is absurd, considering that the simple task of personifying a dragon in Smaug made for one of the greatest, psychologically complicated, and
utmost captivating villain in all of literature. Nonetheless, one may argue that Tolkien's Smaug serves as the same purpose as a dragon in the Harry
Potter series; a plot obstacle that cause destruction. Granted that this notion may appear plausible, it proves false in terms of characteristics of the
dragons individually. In other words, the dragon in Harry Potter happens to be illustrated as regular animal that features no unique qualities, whereas
Smaug is categorized as a complex and unique character, in terms of his motives, intelligence, and the threat he poses to those who dare challenge

his notable crimes are for yes, eating people (or body parts). Many indicators are given within the movie that suggest he is not a peoples person, such

American Dragon Research Paper
What is the first thing that comes into your mind when you think of the word dragon? Myth? Conspiracy? Well, there's a lot more to dragons then you
may think. According to legend, there are many kinds: European, Asian, sea serpent, fire drake, great earth dragon, water dragon, golden dragon. The
list goes on. Those were the ones that will be discussed now. The prehistoricdragon was the root of the whole family(documentary). First appearing in
the late Jurassic, it was an unknown threat to most other dinosaurs who dared to cross its path. It was mostly black, with a variety of different
colored eye spots on it's wings, usually being yellow or red. Unlike most dragons later in the paper, it had only legs and wings, no arms. It had two
short, curly horns protruding from the back of it's head. A fully–grown prehistoric dragon could be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fire drake would usually be depicted as a European dragon, with some minor ultications. It could talk, and reason. It would deceive men, drawing
them to their deaths(ciruel o43). It is even popular today, in movies and books. In the book and the movie trilogies, Smaug has to be the most famous.
Smaug is an enormous fire drace, twice the size of a jumbo–jet. With a low, persuading voice and personality, he holds an entire hour and a half of the
second movie, with Bilbo and the dwarves. There is a common folk tale called " The Dragon and The Gypsy." It suggests that fire drakes could
shape shift, too. It tells of a poor gypsy who tries to trick the dragon. The dragon takes him to his lair to converse and eat with him. Showing off his
fake feets of strength, the man fools him into transforming into a man. Both ride horses back to the gypsy's home where he has six sons to help him
slay the dragon. He transforms back into the beast and flies off just in time to escape(ciruelo

Personal Narrative : Dragon Quest
Dragon Quest Returning home late and tired, Nathan plops himself on his couch while thinking out loud, "Phew, it has been a long day and I'm so
glad I can finally relax and play some video games. Oh yeah! Now which one should I play?" Nathan looked over and saw his favorite game,
Dragon Conquest 3 laying on the table. He reached over and popped the game into the console and as he did so, heard a loud boom. It sounded like
the boom of a cannon. Then, out of nowhere, there is a flash of lightning which illuminated the room that was followed by a deafening crash of thunder.
Startled and thinking out loud, "Wow, that is one loud storm, I hope the power doesn't go out." Suddenly, he hears the howling of the wind and the
rustling of the leaves on the trees outside. As the lightening flashed and the thunder roared, a bolt of lightning strikes his house and Nathan becomes
temporarily blind. After a half–hour, his sight returns, but he does not recognize where he is. "Uhh, where am I?" It seems as if out of nowhere a
deep voice replies, "You are in Yorkshire, the English province." Scared and voice trembling, Nathan replies, "Oh, ok. Who are you?" "I am Sir
Gordon of the Knightly Realm. Who might you be?" "I am, I am," stuttered Nathan as he tries to remember his name. "Nathan," he yelled with a
look of confusion on his face. "What region are you from, Nathan?" "I am from London. Where are you from Sir Gordon?" Nathan said in a low
weak voice, while still trying to understand what is happening to him. He takes a moment to look around and sees a small village surrounded by
woods and large plowed fields. There are cattle and sheep grazing in the fields and clusters of small houses lined up in rows. To his left there is a
large castle on the top of a hill overlooking the village surrounded trees. The air is thick and clammy, and the ground is wet, soggy, and cold. He
looks up and closes his eyes, hoping that when he opens them, he will be back home, but, no luck, he could still hear Sir Gordon talking to him. "I
am from Yorkshire. Sent by the Queen herself," said Sir Gordon looking straight pass Nathan with a perplexed look on his face. Nathan turned around

the looks of it, he does not have many close relations. He grows fond of Abigail, constantly talks about Will as his friend and Belinda Du Maurier is
one of the few he talks with a little deeper, but she does not known everything. Alana Bloom and Hannibal Lecter engages in a sexual relationship,
where Hannibal is like a snake whispering in Alana's ear. Hannibal shows psychopathic tendencies, but does not fit the term straight on. One of the
things that drives the series forward is Hannibal's curiosity; it is because of it that he does many of the things that keeps the series going. One way to
see the real Hannibal is the symbolic use of the Wendigo, a mythical shape–shifting man–eater. The Wendigo shows up in Will's dreams and

The Horror Of Red Dragon
Horror for years has put people on the edge of their seats, begging the audience for more, even while scared out of their minds. Horror is an intense
emotion that shows disgust and fear. This feeling is something some people might seek out for entertainment purposes–movies for example. The most
interesting horror movie genres are serial killer, demon/ghost, and alien films. The first example of a horror movie genre are serial killer films.
Serial killer flicks are meant to seek one's inner fear so one might begin to question "what if?" Serial killers exist all throughout history and can be
found in almost any place one might look. These movies strike fear into the viewer using real life scenarios but from the safety of a person's own
couch. Red Dragon is one of my personal favorite horror films. Will Graham has to use Hannibal Lector, an incarcerated formal cannibal murderer,
to catch a serial killer called the Tooth Fairy. Hannibal has always been a series of books and movies that interest me. Halloween, the remake by
Rob Zombie, also strikes panic into the viewer. It describes Michael Myers's mental problems that developed at a young age, and now that pent up
rage and anxiety took off and he became a blood lusting murder. I first saw Halloween at my mom's house at about 1A.M. I was not supposed to be
up at such a late hour, so sneaking into the living room and watching a serial killer cinematic would not be please to my tired and grumpy mother. I

Silence Of The Lambs Compare And Contrast Essay
"The last thing you want is Hannibal Lecter inside your head." It is a daunting task to effectively transfer textual tonality from page to screen.
Balancing proper visual interpretations of the text with original insights is not an easy procedure, and not every filmmaker is equipped with the artistic
skills necessary to complete such an undertaking. Alejandro Jodorowsky's wildly unsuccessful attempt at adapting Frank Herbert's Dune, for example,
ended in bankruptcy for the studio and premature cancellation of the project due to the extensive runtime the film was to have in accordance with the
length of the book. Many filmic adaptations fail in their inability to recapture and translate what originally gave a text literary merit. Jonathan Demme's
adaptation of the quintessential Thomas Harris novel Silence of the Lambs is so well... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each creative, Demme and Harris, utilize the conventions of their respective platform not for the creation of an identical character, but an identical
feeling. In both texts, Lecter executes his visions of control, and both artists prove themselves capable of demonstrating these ideas to an audience.
Roger Ebert describes the character of Lecter as having a "speaking voice with the precision of a man so arrogant he can barely be bothered to
address the sloppy intelligence of the ordinary person." He is intelligent and knows it, craving control for apparently no other reason than because it is
there. There are, however, major discrepancies between Harris's one–eyed, eleven–fingered Dr. Lecter Demme's subdued criminal mastermind. The
intimately paternal relationship between Lecter and Starling that guides the narrative remains constant between iterations even as Lecter changes.

Dominance and Self-Control of a Psychopathic Cannibal
Dominance and Self–control of a Psychopathic Cannibal In a world of war, a TV series may hold the perfect example of why humans demonstrate
the need to fight, win, and constantly change power. In a comparison of Nietzsche's theory of Will and NBC's new series Hannibal, we begin to
discover that the prominence of self–importance and dominance are at fault for our destructive nature. According to Nietzsche, humans are ingrained
with the sense of domination as a result of being a conscious being. This desire to dominate resonates from our 'will to power'; our underlying
struggle and 'violence that is beyond good and evil, true and false, because it is this very dynamic that makes notions of the latter possible in the first
place [the latter being domination] (Petersen).' Through this domination dynamic, the world exists in a form of constant battle and war: the master and
the slave, the king and his subjects, the boss and the employee, etc. Rebellions, murder, sabotage, and other forms of vandalism all move toward one
aspect that is Nietzsche's 'Will to Power'. This will is human's driving ambition, our reason to strive for bigger and better things. (Shaw) Nietzsche
interpreted the will to power as a fight with one's surroundings that resulted in self–perfection (or the pursuit of it), and mastery of space that merely
resulted in domination. He wrote: "My idea is that every specific body strives to become master over all space and to extend its force (its will to
power) and to

Hannibal even has its own composer responsible for all this. There are very few scenes without music, but the music is not always dominant enough
for the viewer to note it. In many instances, it complements the story so well that one completely forgets that the music is there. This happens
because we do not sense simple tones or sounds, the tones and sounds become a part of a bigger perception. The music in Hannibal is mostly used
to build suspense. Movies and series has a tendency to use similar sounds to illustrate similar feelings. That way, the viewer associates certain music
with certain feelings. By using music in the background, it builds suspense and the viewers find themselves engrossed by it, even though one does
not pay attention to it. While sound effects play a large role, music might play an even larger role. The series is known for using a wide range of
classical music, including pieces from famous composers such as Chopin and Bach. In some scenes, this music is used to further understand the
character Hannibal Lecter. Classical music helps build up a perception of a courteous gentleman. In other scenes, it acts surprisingly, challenging the
viewer's previous experience. One example of this is the fighting scene between Hannibal and Jack in the episode Contorno. During fights, one
normally hears the characters' groans of pain and the sound of people hitting each other. During this scene, beautiful classical music was played. This is
so different from what one normally hears that one cannot help but notice

Dragons Transformed
Dragon have been predominant in many cultures for centuries. Its function may differ culture to culture but its identity has become a universal symbol;
we all have the dragon in common. Dragons are everywhere and appear to be the most documented creature in all of ancient history, second to that of
the human being (Isaacs 19). These magnificent creatures like any other monster have an origin. Scholars, however, debate the origin of the dragon
pointing to several aspects; diffusion and conception from other biological organisms. Is there a definite origin of the dragon? This debate has sparked
another simply because it appears that the dragon's identity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The origin of dragons is a well debated topic and there seems to be numerous origins however, because the dragon appears in many cultures and
because the dragon belief shares so many similarities, Smith argues the dragon must have a common origin (Blust 519). This then raises the question
as to how this could be possible especially when there exists a diverse plethora of cultures throughout the world and many geographical locations. This
has baffled many including psychologist C. G. Jung, which suggests that dragons are "archetypes," or symbols acquired in the past and genetically
transmitted for ages as an innate property of the human mind (519). This is an interesting approach, however, there still remains others that must also
be discussed; the diffusion of the idea of the dragon and the inspiration by biological organisms.
Diffusion is the common explanation to explain the extent to which cultures come to the general consensus on the identity of the dragon. Smith

Similarities And Differences Between The Movie And The...
In The Silence of the Lambs, both the book and film have the same storyline of Clarice Starling, a young U.S. FBI trainee, seeks the advice of the
imprisoned Dr. Hannibal Lecter to apprehend another serial killer, known as "Buffalo Bill". When she uses Dr. Lecter's help to capture "Buffalo
Bill," he somehow escapes out of the prison he is in. But in the end, they are able to capture "Buffalo Bill," but Dr. Lecter was never found. He did,
however, call Clarice and told her not to search for him, and he would not search to kill her. Much of the film and book are exactly the same with
only small differences, which set them apart. In 1992, it won an Academy Award for Best Writing Adapted Screenplay, which really shows how
much effort Jonathan Demme, the director put into this film to keep the same plot. The small differences throughout, really sway the reader or
viewer to make a decision on which one really captured the storyline better. In the film, the backstory of Jack Crawford is not really shown. In the
book, however, the reader can really tell how much effort and sacrifice he made for the job he has. Because of all of Crawford's effort, it really built
Clarice's character. Clarice in the story is seen as a second chance for Crawford because of his mistakes he made with Will Graham. Both stories really
mirror each other and fit into each other. In the film, however, it is hard to fit so much tiny detail into a two–hour film, so the movie wasn't able to
show the small details about Clarice. The book nevertheless, was able to shape Clarice as an individual. But, during the film Jodi Foster, the actor who
played Clarice Starling in the film, was really able to embrace her character and brought as much detail as she could. Another small detail about Dr.
Lecter is in the book, he is described as having red eyes and six fingers on one hand, but in the film, he has blue eyes and both hands only have 5
fingers. In a crucial scene, in the novel, it sways the guard's attention from his other hand, in which he holds a makeshift key to his handcuffs. This
allows him to escape from his cage. This was done in the book, to make him seem creeper, but Anthony Hopkins, the actor who played Dr. Lecter,

Slaying Python Vs Red Dragon Essay
The tale of The Slaying Python and the tale of Y Ddraig Goch (The Red Dragon) have similarities and differences galore, making them great for
comparison. The most obvious of the similarities between the stories is the defeat of an foe. In The Slaying of Python–which was covered in the myth
of Apollo and Diana–the god Apollo fought and killed the great serpent Python. In The Red Dragon the red dragon in the story fought and killed the
opposing white dragon. As the main focus of each story this comparison is very noticeable. Yet, this similarity also reveals adifference, albeit a small
one, that can be found in many compared stories. This difference is in the species of the characters. Apollo in The Slaying of Python is a god and so
very different from the red dragon of the other story, Python though is more similar to the white dragon of The Red Dragon tale but still notably
different, as snakes and dragons tend to be. These narratives, more so, depict some connection to prophecy. Apollo slew Python at... Show more content

Comparison Of Herman Melville's Typee, The Silence Of The...
There are taboos in this world, too hideous and ghastly for the general public, far beyond our normal day to day lives. However, some authors want to
thrust these taboos onto the population and make people live some of the fear, gore, and wretchedness that follow these subjects. Herman Melville and
Thomas Harris share many similarities in their writing styles, between their popularity and their deep and meaningful narratives that they have within
their novels, specifically, Typee,The Silence of the Lambs. Herman Melville's Typee and Thomas Harris' The Silence of the Lambs share many themes,
such as the many facets of Identity, Cannibalism, and Captivity. Identity (Sexuality): From Herman Melville's subtle addition of bisexuality in his
main character, Tommo and Thomas Harris' casual addition of Raspail's homosexuality. Identity (Femininity): Clarice Starling, the main character of
The Silence of the Lambs fight for recognition and acceptance from her male colleagues and the women on the island being open and carefree but still
restricted in Typee, not to mention the shy wonder of Fayaway. Identity (Power): The similarities of power with the chief of the Typee Mehevi and
Hannibal Lecter. Cannibalism: The wonder if the Typee really are Cannibals throughout the book and Hannibal Lecter's outright feast of the people
around him. Captivity: The Typee's captivity of Tommo and Toby, Buffalo Bill's girls, and Hannibal Lecter's stay at the hospital. This essay will

Ad Review: The Red Dragon
The ad I chose to review was for a LennoxВ® system. The ad utilizes imagery from the times of Middle Ages to convey the power and grandeur of
the LennoxВ®system. The imagery also suggests that the is so quiet and powerful that the dragon can peacefully slumber on a rigid plateau of rocks
and supports the ads claim that, "LennoxВ® makes the quietest system you can find. So even though it is the most powerful force in your home, it
won't sound like it is. . ." and that this is "What Perfect Feels LikeTM." The level of comfort LennoxВ® claims their product can provide is portrayed

A Summary On The Book ' Leonidas ' Essay
Chapter One
Leonidas needed a way to die.
He ran straight at the cave wall, head first, and bashed himself senseless. At least, he vaguely remembered doing that when he woke up with his scaly
dragon face flat on the floor. It was stupid, but it was worth a try. His wyvern form was even tougher than his normal bullet–proof skin and inherent
dragon healing powers. He'd tried slashing his wrists, but his fae runes just scurried to heal them. He could keep re–cutting, but when he passed out
from the blood loss, the wounds would heal, and he'd wake up still very much alive. Repeated attempts just kept him out longer while his blood
regenerated.
It was fucking hard to kill a dragon.
He dragged his sorry wyvern ass up to front of the cave–ti was a pocket of mountain he'd carved out over a decade ago, once he got close to the end of
his days. At least he'd made it to his tomb before he lost his mind entirely, which meant Rosalyn was safe from his wyvern's savage need to take her by
force, seal her with his dragonfire, and then rape her until he impregnated her with his child. A shudder ran through him with that horrifying thought.
He'd flown away from the keep as fast as he could, then he'd thrown up the protection runes around his tomb that would forever lock his beast inside.
His wyvern, with its beastly mindlessness, would be trapped, unable to open the magic cage he'd summoned.
The only problem? Half a day had passed, and he was still in his right mind.
Leonidas sat at the lip

My Family Monologue
I took a deep sigh as mom said I had to help clean out her closet. I started by the neon colored shirts and worked my way to the buttoned blouses. Mom
decided it was time we take a break. So my mom and I went downstairs and each had a bowl of pretzels and a glass of orange juice, boy was I hungry!
We went back upstairs and immediately got back to work. Mom couldn 't get inside the closet to the hard–to–reach places, but sadly I could. I plopped
myself inside my mom 's dark and dusty closet. Mom said she was running downstairs to get some garbage bags for old clothes. After she left, I
looked inside the closet and saw a little shining light. I reached for the light and found this old dusty journal like book. I took the book with me and saw

The dragon saw me and unhinged its jaw. Out came a fiery mist of heat, it was red with strands of blue. When I screamed for help the dragon froze.
The dragon bowed down to my ankles and said "My name is Garonie and I promise to not harm you. What is your name human creature?"
"Rihanna Lucc..." I murmured quietly.
"Well it is a pleasure to meet–––" exclaimed Garonie.
Before he could finish I asked "Where am I?"
He refused to tell me what the amazing land was called. Garonie said I would have to figure that one out by myself. I was confused and startled, I
decided it was time for me to hustle on back to the human world. But I was lost, had no shelter, and not a single clue about anything.
"Rise and shine sunshine," roared Garonie.
Garonie had waken me up in dragon hours which basically for me means waking up at 3 in the morning. Garonie said that he was going to introduce
me to his other dragon friends. I rejected and explained how I need to find my way back to the human world. But when Garonie told me the names of
all the dragons, I heard the one that was written in the journal before. "syfbu" and "kgbus" were two of the names that were in the journal, and

A Short Story : A Story?
The short, slim, man was standing next to a tombstone with many others. He looked at the coffin with anger. He stopped making his facial
expression and combed his dark black hair. His eyes glowed and teared as he moved his chapped lips. "He was a great father, master, even leader."

"Here lies H.B. Mada, ruthless teaching of many skills such as archery, stealth, strength, and heart." read Hanzi. A darkgreen feather with accents of
black every so often, laid on top of the stone. Mada's childhood name Sparrow, symbolizing hope and goodwill. He walked away after later to be
found in the dojo. It was small, but filled with pride robes, armor, and weapons everywhere. It was narrow but empty, short pillars rose towards the
roof barely touching. The light brown wood made up the walls and roof. In the middle of the dojo a big metallic bell, used for ringing before fights,
its silver exterior shone bright, lighting the entire dojo. In the corner barely glowing a candle with the scent of an apple, Mada's favorite scent. Thud!
Thud! Thud! "Come in Hanzi." Mada mumbled as he was meditating in front of a painting of two dragons. Hanzi questioned, "How could you tell I
was coming?" "Father," responded Mada Mada, "he taught us well, very well." He grunted, "Why are you here?" "Our battle tonight..." she spoke. "I

Comparison Of Biological Theories In The Silence Of The Lamb
1. Introduction The silence of the lambs is based on a young F.B.I. student have to visit a prison and meet with a manipulative killer to receive his
help on catching another serial killer who skins his victims. Biological Theory believes that some of us are born criminals and others are motivated by
their environment. It indicates that born criminals can also be identified by their bodies. In this essay, I want to focus on the character Buffalo Bill and
Dr. Hannibal and how he relates to the biological theory.
2. The Silence of the Lambs – Buffalo Bill Character Jodie Foster as Clarice Starling is a student in the FBI who worked hard to advance in her career
is being asked to question Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a psychiatrist who has in a maximum security isolation for 8 years for killing his victims and eating
them. Considering the fact he's a very smart psychiatrist, the student must be careful to not fall for his mind tricks and be able to manipulate him to
help her solve another case of the new serial killer by the name of Buffalo Bill. Buffalo Bill has killed about 5 females by skinning them and drowning
them in few lakes around the western US.
The movie starts with young Clarice training on what seems to be an early morning, right after she finishes her exercises, she receives a phone call
from Jack Crawford who happened to be a special agent with the FBI and also the head of behavioral science unit. Clarice meets with Jack which he

The Silence Of The Lambs
Winning over twenty awards including an oscar, academy awards in all top five categories: Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Picture, Best Director, and
Adapted Screenplay, Jonathan Demme's The Silence of the Lambs brings mystery, excitement, and horror in an epic twist to find a serial killer killing
heavy set women for their skin. Through amazing screenplay and talent, one can enjoy this psychological thriller on the edge of their seats. In the film,
young FBI agent in training Clarice Starling, played by actress Jodie Foster, is sent out to discover the identity of a serial killer known as "Buffalo Bill".
After graduating, she aspires to work in the behavioral science unit for Jack Crawford (Scott Glenn). Crawford asks her to interrogate imprisoned
serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter, commonly referred to as "Hannibal the Cannibal" for eating his victims. Crawford believes that it may take one
psychopath to know another one. It is Dr. Lecter 's insight, manipulation, and mystery that leads Starling on the right path while discovering the
identity of the killer along with her own identity as well. Crawford believed that Starling would be able to to achieve an emotional response from Dr.
Lecter being that she was a female. She was reminded not to let Dr. Lecter in to her head but he would only give information at a cost. He wanted
Starling to express herself emotionally and reveal her past through psychoanalysis. By doing this she reveals key motives and backstory within the

Characterization Of Hannibal Lecter
Dr. Hannibal Lecter. It is a name that strikes terror in the hearts of all readers and movie watchers alike. Said to be the most widely feared and awed
fictional psychopaths of all times, he is a highly qualified psychiatrist who eats people for the sake of amusement. But even with his cannibalistic
nature, the author Thomas Harris does not portray Dr. Lecter as the antagonist of his book, 'The Silence of the Lambs'; he is more of a middleman, who
though imprisoned hasn't lost his impeccably polite ways, his mannerisms sometimes making you question whether he is actually 'crazy' at all. He
makes eating another man's liver sound as though he were just eating another delicacy from his favorite restaurant. He is a man capable of creating

Thomas Harris's latest introduction to the book featuring in the 25th year edition gives us a glance into the creation of the character of Hannibal Lecter,
inspired from a man that he met in a mental institution years earlier. He also further explains how his childhood memories influenced the building of
Clarice Starling's personality.
A book that maintains suspense throughout with two frightening, evil and inhuman villains and a flawed, human and yet extremely idealistic female
protagonist with the perspective of no one in particular makes it an extremely great read, even for those who have watched the movie and can't get
Anthony Hopkins' superb portrayal of the mad doctor out of their head. It definitely improved my perception of the human mind and broadened my

The Existence Of A Lie-Destructive Dragon
In this world, in the presence of a lie–consuming dragon, lies take the form of monsters. The size of said monsters depend on the severity of the lie
being told, and how badly the liar doesn't want to be found out. But this doesn't apply to all dragons, however. Dragons come into existence to fulfill
the need or a strong wish of a human. A human who has seen all of their loved ones die and firmly wishes for solace will bring about an immortal
dragon. A human who has been trapped all their life will bring about a dragon with powers of intangibility. It's not a hard concept to grasp, really.

began during his childhood, when he experienced a tragic event that shaped the rest of his life. I chose Dr. Lecter as my case study because I know that
he's well know psychopath with many characteristics that would be interesting to study.

People with Antisocial Personality Disorder often lack empathy and are inclined to be cynical, and condescending of the rights of others. Dr. Lecter,
displayed superficial charm and lacked empathy for his victims. Antisocial personality disorder is diagnosed when a person's pattern of antisocial
behavior has happened since 15 years old in which they fail to conform to social norms, practice deception, aggressiveness, lack of impulse control

Clarice Starling
When discussing feminist characters, it's easy to get caught up on the more overtly feminine personalities, such as Elle Woods from "Legally Blond"
or perhaps Dorothy Gale from "The Wizard of Oz". However, the 1991 film "The Silence of the Lambs", an "...intense, gritty crime odyssey,"(Grow,
2016) supplies a strong, feminist character who isn't afraid to get down to business. Throughout the film, Clarice Starling, played by Jodie Foster,
silently breaks gender roles in order to compete with the male authority that she faces all around her. From avoiding suggesting gazes and unwanted
sexual advances, to holding one's ground in a male workplace, Starling takes on a role that is the constant recipient of the male scrutiny, impulse, and
hostility. Clarice is placed into a distinctly feminist role by the use of powerful cinematography, the actions of her male counterparts and Clarice's own
actions while in the face of ethical adversity. The story concerns the young Clarice Starling, a promising FBI cadet at a training academy located in
Quantico, Virginia. Jack Crawford of the Bureau's Behavioral Science Unit assigns Starling to befriend the notoriousHannibal Lecter, a former
psychiatrist and imprisoned cannibalistic killer. Starling is forced to cooperate with Dr. Lecter, as his insight proves useful in identifying "Buffalo

Dragon's identity
Having two identities is like mastering the dragon ways. In Maxine Hong Kingston's 1976 The Woman Warrior, she retells about her autobiography in a
fictional way and greatly magnifies the art of storytelling. Maxine introduces with the story about her unknown aunt and then transitioning to her
favorite story about a woman warrior, Fa Mu Lan. Then she explores about her mother's past, sister, and interaction with herself. She truly connects
every part of the story and creates an identity for herself. The dragon passage illuminates Maxime's identity and brings her stories into a whole where
one must understand one part to find person's identity.
The passage of dragon illuminates her identity because it explains the only way to recapture Maxine's identity throughout the narrative. On page
twenty–eight, Maxine narrates the Fa Mu Lan's story in the first person to relate to herself:

Relationship Between Hannibal And Lecter

  • 1. Relationship Between Hannibal And Lecter In Hannibal, there is a different kind of partnership as previously examined. This partnership between the second and the protagonist is dark and manipulative. NBC's Hannibal is a psychological thriller–horror television series developed by executive producer and show runner Bryan Fuller. The focus on the friendship between FBI special investigator Will Graham, played by actor Hugh Dancy, and Dr.Hannibal Lecter, played by actor Mads Mikkelsen. Graham presents a chance for a romantic connection, as well as a chance for Lecter to find someone who understands him. Lecter's fascination with Graham may originate from him discovering a younger mirror image of himself, and the opportunity to toy with this younger version and get inside his head. Fuller states, "Hannibal sees something in Will Graham that he also sees in himself. They're both unique and they're crazy" (Fuller). Over the show, Graham slowly starts losing grip on his reality but FBI Special Agent, Jack Crawford, sees Graham's empathy disorder as something he can use to help others so he keeps Graham on the team. However, Lecter does not want Graham to self–destruct because that would mean losing his only chance at having another person who could understand him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lecter may not be able to feel any sincere emotion of shame, guilt, or remorse, but he is still a human. For Lecter, while he seems determined to become Graham's most cunning enemy, this opportunity for an understanding is the closest thing to love he can find. There is something in him that desires to be understood, or in part at least acknowledged. This acknowledgment has less to do with the notion of love but more with connection. Lecter does not seek approval from Graham, but seeks someone who can understand his thought process and "design" the way Graham is capable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. The Shawshank Redemption In The Movie : Silence Of The Lambs Think back, what are some of the most memorable movies that you have ever watched? The Shawshank Redemption may immediately come to mind, or perhaps Forrest Gump might barge through that door first. Regardless of your answer to the question previously posed, there were reasons why those two examples captivated people the way that they did and still do. Timeless movies all happen to share one thing in common, they have the capability to leave a profound message on its viewers. By eloquently excavating the core of the human being, the directors main goal of hijacking your attention, is successfully achieved. In the 1991 psychological thriller, Silence of the Lambs, director Johnathan Demme does not fail to fall short of reaching these means. By triggering our primal instincts in fear, fornication, and the fight or flight response, this nearly three–decade old movie still leaves viewers trembling and hearts quivering. Silence of the Lambs begins with the spotlight on a female FBI trainee named Clarice Starling. While in Quantico, Virginia, completing her training to work for the bureau, she gets contacted by her superior, Agent Jack Crawford. Upon talking to Crawford, he assigns Starling the daunting task of questioning the infamous, cannibalistic murderer Dr. Hannibal Lecter. The purpose of her interrogation is to gain firsthand insight into the mind of a killer; in the hopes that the info she gathers will help unravel the case of an active serial killer named Buffalo Bill. Starling follows his orders and arrives at Dr. Hannibal Lecter's cell at a mental ward. The intellectually advanced Dr. Lecter ends up not taking kindly to her analyzing, and eventually asks her to leave. However, upon walking away from his cell, an inmate decides to throw his unborn children onto Starling's hair. Lecter notices this and out of compassion, he decides to give her another chance to question him. This time around things go a lot smoother, and Lecter, even offers her a promising lead. Dr. Hannibal Lecter's information leads to a storage shed where Clarice Starling discovers a severed head with a Sphinx moth lodged in its throat. After her discovery, she is informed by Lecter that this was in fact one of Buffalo Bill's victims. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Great Red Dragon And The Woman Clothed With The Sun 1.Artwork title: The Great Red Dragon and the Woman Clothed with the Sun. 2.William Blake is the creator of The Red Dragon and the Woman Clothed with the Sun. 3.Interesting fact about this painting, it was influenced by the Bible and demonstrates the battle between good and evil. Involving heaven and hell verse the human race and religion. 4.The use of space in this painting allows me to see the movement of the dragon. To the swirling of his tail and the dramatic zigzag on the border, gives me the impression that the dragon is flying and hovering over the woman. The intensity of light around the woman's dress creates a very earthy feel. The dragon's powerful appearance is very demonic. Not only is his head surrounded by two huge horns; ... • 4. Hannibal Lecter Essay The character I choose to do my clinical diagnosis is Dr. Hannibal Lecter, from the movie The Silences of the Lambs, which is played by Anthony Hopkins. Dr. Hannibal is a psychopath serial killer who uses charm, manipulation, intimidation, and violence to control his victims and others to satisfy his own selfish needs. Because he lacks a conscience and feelings for others, he cold–bloodily takes what he wants and does what he pleases, violating social norms and expectations without the slightest sin of remorse, guilt, or regret. Also Dr. Lecter suffered from Post–Traumatic Stress Disorder, which explains some of his other actions as psychopath serial killer. One of the biggest traits of psychopath serial killer is their inability to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They usually hate their parents. Almost every serial killer is abused as a child, whether it is sexually, emotionally, physically, or psychologically. This abuse may come from a stranger or a family member, but many serial killers try to lie about this history of abuse. Most serial killers have records of early psychiatric problems and often spent time in institutions as children (i.e.: mental hospitals or psychological rehabilitation centers). They have an intense interest in voyeurism, fetishism, and sadomasochistic porn at a very early age, and they also have a very high rate of suicide attempts. Future serial killers share three other traits in their childhoods. More than sixty precent of serial killers wet their beds past the age of twelve. They also have a fascination with fire, which may be an early manifestation of their fondness for mass destruction. In addition, almost every serial killer starts his abuse and sadistic torture on animal victims (Fisher and Fisher, 2003). In the movie Lecter listens to classical music, knows art, and has vivid memory of beautiful places that he's traveled to, the places he has seen the picture for example, of Claires Sterling and of France. I found him to be very intelligent because of the way he committed his murders and the way he could read you like a book and know nothing about you. His senses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wings Of Fire: The Dragonet Prophecy Deep book pitch Wings of Fire The Dragonet Prophecy The seven dragon tribes have been at war for generations, locked in an endless battle over an ancient, lost treasure. A secret movement called the Talons of Peace is determined to bring an end to the fighting, with the help of a prophecy –a foretelling that calls for great sacrifice. Five dragonets are collected to fulfill the prophecy, raised in a hidden cave and enlisted, against their will, to end the terrible war. • 6. Red Dragons: A Short Story It was easy to say that the dragon enjoyed every little bit of terror he caused in her, even as he backed down and ceased hostilities, he had won after all, and that predatory relish had not faded. After he got back he planned to finish off that poor beast unless his people had already incinerated the remains. The others had undoubtedly heard the gunshots and were likely more confused as to why no screams followed as to anything. His line of thoughts however found themselves brought back to the moment by her rather sudden shout. He did not react outwardly to her shout, being in mid–step when she made it, but he did pause and turn just enough to register the expression of regret on her face. He turned more. She wasn't armed again, but with this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The scholars of old attributed this to a magical persuasive or even a mind control ability. Of course, modern day humanity might see things quite differently. Perhaps there was no inherent magical nature to the dragon, but really, if a dragon approaches and tells someone to do something, they are unlikely to be foolish enough to refuse. Tal himself did not remember the old days, nor did he care, in this society, even if he had such a power, it would not be needed, he did have a perverse charisma in this world almost tailored for him, a strength that drew others to him despite the risks. Looming over her, the Dragon smirked, lip lifting enough to show off a single of his impressive fangs. "I have certainly proven my gang's strength and their loyalty is without question" He said, his voice lowering to a rumble. "You do certainly have what it takes, I will give you that; bold, brash, and you are a good shot" He briefly flexed his right wing – her shot had dented a couple scales and certainly would have caused a bruise on him were he capable of bruising there. • 7. Dragons In J. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit What does the word "dragon" mean to us? Generally, if one is asked this question, the response would be "unintelligent dangerous weapons of destruction". However, this is not the case in J.R.R Tolkien's "The Hobbit", nor is it true for the early mythology of dragons. Instead, this modern definition is replaced with one of, "greedy, intelligent beings with human characteristics". Hence, a question arises as to why the image of dragons has been drastically downgraded throughout literature? To answer this question, I will first begin by isolating passages from Tolkien's "The Hobbit" in an attempt to describe certain features of Smaug the magnificent. Afterwards, I will partake in exemplifying the written style of dragons in the history of literature... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Traditional dragons were portrayed when the certain writers have been able to preserve the wonder of the creatures. Whereas, modern dragons are illustrated when select stories have implemented new components that have served as counter–productive as depicted by the Harry Potter series which relegates the true plot potential of these beasts. Additionally, these modern dragons tend to be obstacles for the main hero to overcome, which is a stark contrast from the traditional dragons. Therefore, for what reason have writers decided to downgrade the beasts? Unerman (2002) puts forth the belief that "fictional evil is more convincing and more frightening when people, not dragons, are the true enemy" (pg. 100). In addition, another argument could be made in that dragons such as Smaug will overshadow the main human villain, therefore, by downgrading the beasts to simple plot obstacles, it allows for the dragons not to overshadow the main villain, and I cannot accept either argument. Suggesting that "humanity" allows for more engaging villains is absurd, considering that the simple task of personifying a dragon in Smaug made for one of the greatest, psychologically complicated, and utmost captivating villain in all of literature. Nonetheless, one may argue that Tolkien's Smaug serves as the same purpose as a dragon in the Harry Potter series; a plot obstacle that cause destruction. Granted that this notion may appear plausible, it proves false in terms of characteristics of the dragons individually. In other words, the dragon in Harry Potter happens to be illustrated as regular animal that features no unique qualities, whereas Smaug is categorized as a complex and unique character, in terms of his motives, intelligence, and the threat he poses to those who dare challenge ... Illustrating Psychological Disorders: Dr. Hannibal Lecter Listing of Characters (3), Illustrating Psychological Disorders The first character pertaining to the movie listed above worth mentioning is Dr. Hannibal Lecter. Dr. Lecters character was remarkably brilliant yet disturbing all in the same. It can be noted that when introduced in the movie, he remained behind glass, untouchable. This could be because of his infamous crimes as a cannibal. As defined, cannibal is a people–eater. Subsequently, his notable crimes are for yes, eating people (or body parts). His brilliance was subsided with reckless behavior with the remedy of childhood lurking in the back of his mind. His behavior undoubtedly projects in a negative fashion, although his interesting persona allowed in helping his Clarice close a case. Who knew he would be known to help another human being. According to legend, there are many kinds: European, Asian, sea serpent, fire drake, great earth dragon, water dragon, golden dragon. The list goes on. Those were the ones that will be discussed now. The prehistoricdragon was the root of the whole family(documentary). First appearing in the late Jurassic, it was an unknown threat to most other dinosaurs who dared to cross its path. With a low, persuading voice and personality, he holds an entire hour and a half of the second movie, with Bilbo and the dwarves. There is a common folk tale called " The Dragon and The Gypsy." It suggests that fire drakes could shape shift, too. It tells of a poor gypsy who tries to trick the dragon. The dragon takes him to his lair to converse and eat with him. • 10. Personal Narrative : Dragon Quest Dragon Quest Returning home late and tired, Nathan plops himself on his couch while thinking out loud, "Phew, it has been a long day and I'm so glad I can finally relax and play some video games. Oh yeah! Now which one should I play?" Nathan looked over and saw his favorite game, Dragon Conquest 3 laying on the table. He reached over and popped the game into the console and as he did so, heard a loud boom. It sounded like the boom of a cannon. Then, out of nowhere, there is a flash of lightning which illuminated the room that was followed by a deafening crash of thunder. Startled and thinking out loud, "Wow, that is one loud storm, I hope the power doesn't go out." Suddenly, he hears the howling of the wind and the rustling of the leaves on the trees outside. As the lightening flashed and the thunder roared, a bolt of lightning strikes his house and Nathan becomes temporarily blind. After a half–hour, his sight returns, but he does not recognize where he is. "Uhh, where am I?" It seems as if out of nowhere a deep voice replies, "You are in Yorkshire, the English province." Scared and voice trembling, Nathan replies, "Oh, ok. Who are you?" "I am Sir Gordon of the Knightly Realm. Who might you be?" "I am, I am," stuttered Nathan as he tries to remember his name. "Nathan," he yelled with a look of confusion on his face. "What region are you from, Nathan?" "I am from London. Where are you from Sir Gordon?" Nathan said in a low weak voice, while still trying to understand what is happening to him. He takes a moment to look around and sees a small village surrounded by woods and large plowed fields. There are cattle and sheep grazing in the fields and clusters of small houses lined up in rows. To his left there is a large castle on the top of a hill overlooking the village surrounded trees. The air is thick and clammy, and the ground is wet, soggy, and cold. He looks up and closes his eyes, hoping that when he opens them, he will be back home, but, no luck, he could still hear Sir Gordon talking to him. "I am from Yorkshire. Sent by the Queen herself," said Sir Gordon looking straight pass Nathan with a perplexed look on his face. Nathan turned around to see what he was looking at. If things could not get ... • 15. The Horror Of Red Dragon Horror for years has put people on the edge of their seats, begging the audience for more, even while scared out of their minds. Horror is an intense emotion that shows disgust and fear. This feeling is something some people might seek out for entertainment purposes–movies for example. The most interesting horror movie genres are serial killer, demon/ghost, and alien films. The first example of a horror movie genre are serial killer films. Serial killer flicks are meant to seek one's inner fear so one might begin to question "what if?" Serial killers exist all throughout history and can be found in almost any place one might look. These movies strike fear into the viewer using real life scenarios but from the safety of a person's own couch. Red Dragon is one of my personal favorite horror films. Will Graham has to use Hannibal Lector, an incarcerated formal cannibal murderer, to catch a serial killer called the Tooth Fairy. Hannibal has always been a series of books and movies that interest me. Halloween, the remake by Rob Zombie, also strikes panic into the viewer. It describes Michael Myers's mental problems that developed at a young age, and now that pent up rage and anxiety took off and he became a blood lusting murder. I first saw Halloween at my mom's house at about 1A.M. I was not supposed to be up at such a late hour, so sneaking into the living room and watching a serial killer cinematic would not be please to my tired and grumpy mother. • 16. Silence Of The Lambs Compare And Contrast Essay "The last thing you want is Hannibal Lecter inside your head." It is a daunting task to effectively transfer textual tonality from page to screen. Balancing proper visual interpretations of the text with original insights is not an easy procedure, and not every filmmaker is equipped with the artistic skills necessary to complete such an undertaking. Alejandro Jodorowsky's wildly unsuccessful attempt at adapting Frank Herbert's Dune, for example, ended in bankruptcy for the studio and premature cancellation of the project due to the extensive runtime the film was to have in accordance with the length of the book. Many filmic adaptations fail in their inability to recapture and translate what originally gave a text literary merit. Each creative, Demme and Harris, utilize the conventions of their respective platform not for the creation of an identical character, but an identical feeling. In both texts, Lecter executes his visions of control, and both artists prove themselves capable of demonstrating these ideas to an audience. Roger Ebert describes the character of Lecter as having a "speaking voice with the precision of a man so arrogant he can barely be bothered to address the sloppy intelligence of the ordinary person." He is intelligent and knows it, craving control for apparently no other reason than because it is there. There are, however, major discrepancies between Harris's one–eyed, eleven–fingered Dr. Lecter Demme's subdued criminal mastermind. The intimately paternal relationship between Lecter and Starling that guides the narrative remains constant between iterations even as Lecter changes. Between literature and film, he acts different, looks different, but is essential same character, evoking the same response from the audience of both book and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Dominance and Self-Control of a Psychopathic Cannibal Dominance and Self–control of a Psychopathic Cannibal In a world of war, a TV series may hold the perfect example of why humans demonstrate the need to fight, win, and constantly change power. In a comparison of Nietzsche's theory of Will and NBC's new series Hannibal, we begin to discover that the prominence of self–importance and dominance are at fault for our destructive nature. According to Nietzsche, humans are ingrained with the sense of domination as a result of being a conscious being. This desire to dominate resonates from our 'will to power'; our underlying struggle and 'violence that is beyond good and evil, true and false, because it is this very dynamic that makes notions of the latter possible in the first place [the latter being domination] (Petersen).' Through this domination dynamic, the world exists in a form of constant battle and war: the master and the slave, the king and his subjects, the boss and the employee, etc. Rebellions, murder, sabotage, and other forms of vandalism all move toward one aspect that is Nietzsche's 'Will to Power'. This will is human's driving ambition, our reason to strive for bigger and better things. (Shaw) Nietzsche interpreted the will to power as a fight with one's surroundings that resulted in self–perfection (or the pursuit of it), and mastery of space that merely resulted in domination. He wrote: "My idea is that every specific body strives to become master over all space and to extend its force (its will to power) and to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are very few scenes without music, but the music is not always dominant enough for the viewer to note it. In many instances, it complements the story so well that one completely forgets that the music is there. This happens because we do not sense simple tones or sounds, the tones and sounds become a part of a bigger perception. The music in Hannibal is mostly used to build suspense. Movies and series has a tendency to use similar sounds to illustrate similar feelings. That way, the viewer associates certain music with certain feelings. By using music in the background, it builds suspense and the viewers find themselves engrossed by it, even though one does not pay attention to it. While sound effects play a large role, music might play an even larger role. The series is known for using a wide range of classical music, including pieces from famous composers such as Chopin and Bach. In some scenes, this music is used to further understand the character Hannibal Lecter. Classical music helps build up a perception of a courteous gentleman. In other scenes, it acts surprisingly, challenging the viewer's previous experience. One example of this is the fighting scene between Hannibal and Jack in the episode Contorno. During fights, one normally hears the characters' groans of pain and the sound of people hitting each other. During this scene, beautiful classical music was played. Its function may differ culture to culture but its identity has become a universal symbol; we all have the dragon in common. Dragons are everywhere and appear to be the most documented creature in all of ancient history, second to that of the human being (Isaacs 19). These magnificent creatures like any other monster have an origin. Scholars, however, debate the origin of the dragon pointing to several aspects; diffusion and conception from other biological organisms. Is there a definite origin of the dragon? This debate has sparked another simply because it appears that the dragon's identity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The origin of dragons is a well debated topic and there seems to be numerous origins however, because the dragon appears in many cultures and because the dragon belief shares so many similarities, Smith argues the dragon must have a common origin (Blust 519). This then raises the question as to how this could be possible especially when there exists a diverse plethora of cultures throughout the world and many geographical locations. This has baffled many including psychologist C. G. Jung, which suggests that dragons are "archetypes," or symbols acquired in the past and genetically transmitted for ages as an innate property of the human mind (519). This is an interesting approach, however, there still remains others that must also be discussed; the diffusion of the idea of the dragon and the inspiration by biological organisms. Diffusion is the common explanation to explain the extent to which cultures come to the general consensus on the identity of the dragon. Smith explains that the dragon was a creation of the Egyptian priesthood and from Egypt spread to the Near East, Europe, India, China and Mesoamerica (521). This process of diffusion did not occur at a rapid pace but rather a slow one that took many centuries through contact made during trade. There is evidence to support this claim made by Smith, as the first basic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Similarities And Differences Between The Movie And The... In The Silence of the Lambs, both the book and film have the same storyline of Clarice Starling, a young U.S. FBI trainee, seeks the advice of the imprisoned Dr. Hannibal Lecter to apprehend another serial killer, known as "Buffalo Bill". When she uses Dr. Lecter's help to capture "Buffalo Bill," he somehow escapes out of the prison he is in. But in the end, they are able to capture "Buffalo Bill," but Dr. Lecter was never found. He did, however, call Clarice and told her not to search for him, and he would not search to kill her. Much of the film and book are exactly the same with only small differences, which set them apart. In 1992, it won an Academy Award for Best Writing Adapted Screenplay, which really shows how much effort Jonathan Demme, the director put into this film to keep the same plot. The small differences throughout, really sway the reader or viewer to make a decision on which one really captured the storyline better. In the film, the backstory of Jack Crawford is not really shown. In the book, however, the reader can really tell how much effort and sacrifice he made for the job he has. Because of all of Crawford's effort, it really built Clarice's character. Clarice in the story is seen as a second chance for Crawford because of his mistakes he made with Will Graham. Both stories really mirror each other and fit into each other. In the film, however, it is hard to fit so much tiny detail into a two–hour film, so the movie wasn't able to show the small details about Clarice. The book nevertheless, was able to shape Clarice as an individual. But, during the film Jodi Foster, the actor who played Clarice Starling in the film, was really able to embrace her character and brought as much detail as she could. Another small detail about Dr. Lecter is in the book, he is described as having red eyes and six fingers on one hand, but in the film, he has blue eyes and both hands only have 5 fingers. In a crucial scene, in the novel, it sways the guard's attention from his other hand, in which he holds a makeshift key to his handcuffs. This allows him to escape from his cage. The most obvious of the similarities between the stories is the defeat of an foe. In The Slaying of Python–which was covered in the myth of Apollo and Diana–the god Apollo fought and killed the great serpent Python. In The Red Dragon the red dragon in the story fought and killed the opposing white dragon. As the main focus of each story this comparison is very noticeable. However, some authors want to thrust these taboos onto the population and make people live some of the fear, gore, and wretchedness that follow these subjects. Herman Melville and Thomas Harris share many similarities in their writing styles, between their popularity and their deep and meaningful narratives that they have within their novels, specifically, Typee,The Silence of the Lambs. Herman Melville's Typee and Thomas Harris' The Silence of the Lambs share many themes, such as the many facets of Identity, Cannibalism, and Captivity. Identity (Sexuality): From Herman Melville's subtle addition of bisexuality in his main character, Tommo and Thomas Harris' casual addition of Raspail's homosexuality. Identity (Femininity): Clarice Starling, the main character of The Silence of the Lambs fight for recognition and acceptance from her male colleagues and the women on the island being open and carefree but still restricted in Typee, not to mention the shy wonder of Fayaway. Identity (Power): The similarities of power with the chief of the Typee Mehevi and Hannibal Lecter. Cannibalism: The wonder if the Typee really are Cannibals throughout the book and Hannibal Lecter's outright feast of the people around him. His wyvern form was even tougher than his normal bullet–proof skin and inherent dragon healing powers. He'd tried slashing his wrists, but his fae runes just scurried to heal them. He could keep re–cutting, but when he passed out from the blood loss, the wounds would heal, and he'd wake up still very much alive. Repeated attempts just kept him out longer while his blood regenerated. It was fucking hard to kill a dragon. A shudder ran through him with that horrifying thought. He'd flown away from the keep as fast as he could, then he'd thrown up the protection runes around his tomb that would forever lock his beast inside. Clarice Starling When discussing feminist characters, it's easy to get caught up on the more overtly feminine personalities, such as Elle Woods from "Legally Blond" or perhaps Dorothy Gale from "The Wizard of Oz". However, the 1991 film "The Silence of the Lambs", an "...intense, gritty crime odyssey,"(Grow, 2016) supplies a strong, feminist character who isn't afraid to get down to business. Throughout the film, Clarice Starling, played by Jodie Foster, silently breaks gender roles in order to compete with the male authority that she faces all around her. From avoiding suggesting gazes and unwanted sexual advances, to holding one's ground in a male workplace, Starling takes on a role that is the constant recipient of the male scrutiny, impulse, and hostility. Clarice is placed into a distinctly feminist role by the use of powerful cinematography, the actions of her male counterparts and Clarice's own actions while in the face of ethical adversity. The story concerns the young Clarice Starling, a promising FBI cadet at a training academy located in Quantico, Virginia. Jack Crawford of the Bureau's Behavioral Science Unit assigns Starling to befriend the notoriousHannibal Lecter, a former psychiatrist and imprisoned cannibalistic killer. But I could explore the mountains, which are the top of its head. 'These mountains are also like the tops of other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
