incomplete. Psychopaths are significantly more likely to make contact with the criminal justice
system and their crimes also tend to be more violent than those of other criminals (Carré et al.,
2013). Psychopaths are found to be responsible for approximately 50% of serious crimes and make
up about 20% of North American prisons (Hare, 1999). Psychopaths are notorious for being among
society's most dangerous individuals; however, this category not only refers to the ruthless serial
killers, sex–offenders, and stereotypical convicts. In reality, most psychopaths are not criminals. In

half psychologists have been linking the amygdala to psychopathy. It is involved in aversive
conditioning and instrumental learning and is thus involved in all the processes that, when impaired,

Moving forward into the 20th century, Hervey Cleckley made a contribution to the knowledge and
research of the psychopathic brain. He wrote a book called, "The Mask of Sanity" (1976) where he
described psychopathy as a configuration of interpersonal and behavioral features. He found that not

The Mustard Seed that Never Sprouted Life is full of twists and turns, also characters that could
deceive the most intuitive person on earth, but there is no deny that O'Connor's grandmother
character in "A Good Man is Hard to Find" is far from that mold. By reading the story in its entirety
it is evident that the type of person played by this character is far from someone who is genuinely
seeking the salvation of a lost soul. In contrast, the Misfit character seem to be that old wise wolf
that could smell the blood and fear from miles away, waiting for the right time to execute its victim.

In his analysis of the story titled "One of My Babies," he pointed out various aspects in which the
author disqualified the Grandmother character as the model of moral compass for the Misfit's path to
salvation. He recognized how the character was "filled with the prejudices of her class and her time"
(Schilb and Clifford 1192) pointing out the way the grandmother utilized the little boy's race to
entertain her grandchildren with "a story in which a watermelon is devoured" by the kid. (Schilb and
Clifford 1192) Additionally, Brady points out the way O'Connor herself stamped her character "with
wicked irony" (Schilb and Clifford 1192) which makes it more head scratching on why O'Connor
intended this to be the one who planted what she called the "mustard–seed." (Schilb and Clifford
1187) Further, Brady goes on to discredit the author's analysis by mentioning how O'Connor
betrayed her own character by making it "spiky and vindictive." (Schilb and Clifford 1193) As a
reader I could not agree more with what Brady had to say. If the author wanted to plant the idea of a
savior in the minds of the readers, she could have been more careful in molding her character with
the traits of a person that could create an image of love and compassion, rather than a self–centered
old lady with close minded
