1. MY AUTOBIOGRAPHY
My name is María de los Ángeles Betancur Murillo, but almost all the people call me
Anngie – a nickname that my brother chose for me -, I was born on October 24,
1992, in a small town called Laja, in the eight region of Chile.
When my birth took place in Laja hospital, my
family was very excited, because I would be
the youngest child, as my parents Marta and
Washington were a bit old to have more
children. They were in their forties. My
siblings Javier, Marbely, and Maira were also
too old to play with me. That is why I used to
play with two imaginary friends: “Felipa” and
“Cuculucho”. At that time I lived in San
Rosendo, Chile, where I lived my first year of
life.
Then, my family and I moved to Temuco, and
I do not remember much about that, but my
mom said that I used to steal cherries from a
tree in our neighbor’s garden when I was two. That was really strange, because I do
not know how I could climb a
tree at that age.
After that, we moved from
Temuco to Chiloe Island. This
was a very important change
in my family’s life. My parents
decided to stay there unti l
today – they still live there. All
my memories are about that
2. beautiful place, and I feel that Chiloe is my true home.
When I was five I began to study in a primary school called “Educadora Eulogia
Bórquez Pérez” in Quellon, Chiloe. I participated in plenty of school shows and
presentations related to dancing and singing performances. I was the best student
and I received many awards and diplomas.
An important event happened when I was seven years old: my first nephew was
born. Now, we have a very good relationship, we act like siblings, and we love each
other. He is now fifteen years old and he is not only very amorous, but also he is
very studious and he enjoys playing basketball and soccer.
After that important episode of my life, when I was twelve years old I received the
arriving of a new baby: Matilde, one of my nieces. She is a nine-year-old pretty lady,
who likes dancing and practices it as much as she can.
I was growing up, and that meant a lot of changes in my life and experiences. When
I started to study in high school I was very happy because I was sure that I would
find many friends and I liked to meet new people – I was more sociable than today -
, but I turned my studious way of behaving into a lazy one, although I always got
good marks anyways. My best friend “Tammi” was always planning ideas with
naughtiness, because we did not like to study and we thought we were rebel girls,
as usual in an adolescent. Once, we escaped from our class and we went to the
city’s square to smoke some cigarettes, but unfortunately her father was walking
across that place and we had to run, but he did not find us and we laughed for hours.
That year a new niece was born: Magdalena. She is a four-year-old little lady and
she likes acting like a princess. She also enjoys dancing and she is very talkative,
sometimes she gets angry easily, but I really love her.
After my high school time, I started to work as a teacher assistant in my old school.
That was a very good time, and I remember it with lots of love. I have wished during
all my life to be a teacher (since I was eight), and after that event, I truly decided to
study what I am studying now: English Pedagogy. It was a bit difficult at the
3. beginning, but I like this experience. I have met many people, a few of them are my
friends, and I met someone who is a very important person to me, he is my boyfriend,
Bryan Abos-Padilla. He is studying the same degree as me and I feel that I am in
love with him.
A month ago a new little boy was born, he is named Jonás and he is a lovely baby.
And last week I knew that I will have a new nephew or niece. Can you believe it? My
family is growing up faster than any other!
