The facility's management should have ensured that proper maintenance was being conducted on all their equipment, especially the pipelines. If there
was a company requirement for inspections, not conducting them represents an unethical decision by management (Jennings, 2012). If the problem
had been brought up by employees and management failed to make the right decision, it is still not ethical. These were glaring problems
management refused to address. The further problem of BP's overall management not enforcing company policy means that there is a culture of
unethical decision making where economics gains far outweigh the adherence to safety regulations (BP's Troubled Past, 2010). With BP renting the
rig from Transocean for $500,000 per day, the company was sharing liability with Transocean as well. Transocean would be held liable according to
the provisions of the contract that the two companies signed. Because the law of vicarious liability is very vague, BP cannot distance itself from
liability and responsibility through the use of a contractor (Conn, 2009). The provisions of the contract should have stated exactly what BP would be
responsible for, and what Transocean would be responsible for. That said, Conn (2009) pointed out several factors that come into play when sharing

impacted. It is recognized as the "worst oil spill" in the history of the United States, killing eleven people. The spill occurred due to a leak in a pipe
that spilled oil into the Gulf of Mexico. The BP Oil well was not capped until 87 days later, by which 3.19 million barrels of oil had already spilled
into the the Gulf of Mexico. The BP Oil spill did not only impact humans but sea animals too, including shrimp, lobsters, dolphins, turtles, and more.
To clean up the spill, more chemicals were dumped into the ocean to reduce the size of the oil droplets causing the chemicals to also enter the food
chain of these sea creatures as well. Over one thousand miles of the Gulf of Mexico shoreline was affected by the British Petroleum oil spill. But while
the BP oil spill caused many damages to the Gulf of Mexico, it also brought some benefits, including jobs for immigrants and the national economic
financial crisis started to withdraw.
Panama City and Destin being two cities, well known for their beautiful beaches was severely impacted by this oil spill. Small and big businesses
lost plenty of business as this spill occurred during the two cities booming season of summer. If the spill had happened in the winter, it wouldn't have

Located in Southern Iraq, 20 miles from the Kuwaiti border, is the Rumaila oil field (Fig. 1). It is one the biggest oil fields in the world and the

Company, this super–giant oil field's first estimated volume was thought to be 30 billion barrels in oil reserves (Bb) (Vassiliou 2009); it is now
estimated to be 17 Bb (Hydrocarbons Technology n.d.). Since 1961, it has been under control of the Iraqi Government and has been heavily
developed (Shwadran 1977). The field makes up around 40% of Iraq's oil production with around 200 land wells operating. On November 3rd, 2009,
British Petroleum (BP) along with the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) bid on the field and signed a joint contract acquiring a share of
acreage and production with Iraq's state–owned South Oil Company (SOL), the company that had run the oil field since its inception with the state. In
the contract BP received 38% of production share, its partner CNPC gaining 37%, and 25% for the Iraqi government's State Oil Marketing
Organization (SOMO) (BP 2014). BP and CNPC aimed to increase production from 1.1 million barrels a day to 2.85 by 2016. By October 2012, the

Company, Ltd; in response to the Persian government voting to change its name to Iran in 1935, the company was renamed the Anglo–Iranian Oil

British Petroleum is among the largest producers of oil and gas in the world. Headquartered in London, England it is one of only seven "supermajors"
in the production of petroleum, in fact its performance in 2012 made it the sixth largest producer in its field and by market capitalization. It is also

On April 20, 2010, British Petroleum's (BP) offshore drilling rig, the Deepwater Horizon, exploded and caused the largest accidental marine oil spill
in history, discharging five million barrels of oil into the ocean over a period of three months. During this accident, eleven men working on the oil rig
perished and seventeen others were injured severely. This crisis caused major destruction to marine wildlife caused economic harm on fishing and

April 20, 2010 has gone down in the history books as the day that the most horrific oil spill in history happened. British Petroleum's leased offshore
drilling rig exploded on this day. The Deepwater Horizon caused the largest accidental marine oil spill ever (Crandall, Parnell and Spillan, 2013).
The ruptured oil well leaked nearly 5 million barrels of oil into the sea over a three month period of time. The devastation killed eleven men. 17 others
were severely injured. The devastation reached marine wildlife and some 5 years later, that group is still feeling the after affects.

to bank a saving of $150,000 and just repair the blowdown drum, because "capital expenditure was very tight" (Schorn). According to many
