1. Stereo Types of Americans
Truth or False 18313
Research Cycle 1
Introduction
I am researching ‘stereotypes of the USA’ held
by Low Income Workers in the Imbokimbo company
in Luanda and non-American children.
Hypothesis
I hypothesize that when I query Angolan Low
Income Workers they will have negative
perspectives of Americans I will receive
negative responses. I hypothesize this because
I think they don’t have many experiences with
Americans and they don’t really know what
Americans really are and how their comments
can affect them.
Questionnaire
What are the first three words that come to
your mind when hear the word America.
In this question I wanted to see if their
answer would prove my hypothesis accurate and
correct.
This chart serves to prove what the Low
Income Workers think of the USA

Conclusion
During the research period, I noticed that my answers were
pretty much balanced. When I interviewed non-American children
I noticed that they associated Americans mostly about food and
malls, however every time I interviewed non-American Angolan
adult Workers I always received a mostly negative responses
such as gold-diggers, ignoring’s and ‘A bunch of fat people’.
Overall, I still think I could interview more low income
workers and perhaps elaborate my question so I could get a
better understanding of their perspective.
