This document describes three main types of rocks: igneous rocks which form from cooling lava in the mantle such as basalt and granite; sedimentary rocks which are formed from layers of deposited rock fragments and fossils such as limestone; and metamorphic rocks which change over thousands of years due to heat and pressure conditions, including slate.

2. 1. Igneus rocks
They come from lava in the
mantle. The lava cools down and
becomes solid.

3. Basalt and granite
Granite is made of three
minerals: quartz, feldespate
and mica.

4. 2. Sedimentary rocks
Fragments (little pieces of) rocks deposite and
make layers. Sometimes, we can find fossils in
these rocks.

5. Limestone (piedra caliza).

6. 3. Metamorphic
Rocks change because of heat and pressure.
They need thousand of years to change.
