2. The Life of Oscar Wilde Oscar Wilde was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1854. After he finished his education in Ireland, he studied at Oxford University in England. He made many friends, but also made enemies. He used to wear unusual clothes and have unusual opinions about religion and life. He liked to be the center of attention. He married in 1884. He and his wife, Constance, had two sons. He wrote his most famous Children’s story, “The Happy Prince”, for his sons. He became famous in London as a poet, a writer and a dramatist. His conversations were very clever and funny. He went to many parties, he was considered very popular. He was the most famous writer in London when his play The Importance of Being Earnest was performed in 1895. It was his best play. He was homosexual and he spent two years on prison (1895 – 97). as a punishment. Many of his friends didn’t defend him. After he was released, he lived in France. The last years of his life were very sad. He died in 1900, only with forty-six years old.

4. The Canterville Ghost This story talks about a rich and important american family, that had bought an old and haunted house in England, called Canterville Chase. At the beginning the ownerswarned them that it was very dangerous but the family didn’t listen. As they came into the house, they found a stain of blood on the floor, Washington washed it but the next day, it was still there. The first night they spent there the ghost made his first appearence . Which didn’t bother the family. The Ghost was very angry, so he tried many times to scare the family, but he couldn’t… One day, Virginia tored herjacket and went home to seeif someone could arrange it. As she was walkingshe found a dooropened. The Ghost was there, and he was very sad, tired and hungry. Hetoldher that he didn’tsleep for 300 years and asked Virginia ifshe could helphimbytakinghim to the garden of death. The ghost rested in peace and gaveher his jewellery.
