2.  Amy Kenton is a longtime educational
administrator who currently serves as CEO of
the Howard Gardner Multiple Intelligence (MI)

Pennsylvania, community, Amy Kenton and
her staff take much of their core educational
philosophy from the work of Scranton native
Howard Gardner, who taught cognition and

3.  Gardner’s groundbreaking work with the
university’s Project Zero program prompted
school reform initiatives. At the same time,
his MI theory of intelligences mapped nine
distinct categories of intelligence. These
intelligence types extend from the verbal-
linguistic and mathematical-logical, to the
interpersonal and intrapersonal.

4.  Integrating Gardner’s multiple intelligence
theory, the Scranton institution was
established in 2005 as the private Howard
Gardner School for Discovery. In 2012, a
decision was made to transform the school
into a non-tuition public charter school as a
way of expanding its community reach.
