This document describes sound effects created by Amy Brockbank for an audio cut scene. It summarizes 12 different sound effects created using MIDI and VST plugins, including ambient music, alarms, alien voices, bangs, vent crawling, and hitting metal. Thissoundeffectiscalled‘AB_Alarm’ inmyaudiocutscene.Itis createdentirelyusingMIDIitems
withthe VSTi effect‘ODsay’andthe VSTeffect‘Ambience’.Iusedthe ‘ODsay’soundeffectpreset
‘Siren’asit createda veryurgentalarmsound.I addedinthe ‘Ambience’VSTeffecttogive the
impressionthatthe alarmsoundwill be travellingdown ahallway.Thissoundeffectwill be used
duringthe part where Alex andFrankie are notifiedaboutthe aliensthathave intrudedontothe
ship.Inthe audiocut sequence,Ihave loopedthissoundeffectthroughoutmostof the cut
sequence,toaddto the chaos andpanic of the scene.

To create the soundeffectof the aliens,IusedanentirelyMIDIcreatedtrackwhichhad twoVSTi
effectsappliedtoit.The firsteffectIusedwas‘MinimogueVA’.The reasonIusedthis particularVSTi
effectwasbecause of the effectit createdwhenitwas recordedonloweroctavesandnotes,which
soundedlike itcouldbe usedtocreate the soundof a creature fromanotherworld.I thenlayered
the effect‘EXD-80’overthe top of thiseffecttomake the alienvoicessoundmore layered.Icreated
three differentpatternsof voices,eachwithvaryinglevelsof anger.Inmyaudiocut sequence.Iwill
use each of these voiceswhenAlex andFrankie come intocontactwiththe aliens,andare close
enoughtohear them.

In my audiocut sequence,Iused a soundthatI createdcalled‘AB_Bang’.Thissoundwasused when
the aliensgainentrytothe ship.The soundeffectwascreatedusingMIDIeffects,andusedtwo
differentVSTi effects,‘ODsay’and‘ace (ShatteredGlassAudio)’.IusedODsay’sMetal Sustainpreset
to create a metallicsound,andthenlayeredthe secondVSTi effectoverthe toptocreate an echo,
whichaddedto the soundeffectasa whole.Ionlyusedthisparticularsoundeffectonce,andnever
crossfadedorediteditpastthispoint.

sequence whenAlex crawlsthroughaventtoget to the armoury.I usedtwodifferenteffectstoget
the final soundeffect,one VSTi andone VST.Ifirstused‘Or2v’to create a metallicsoundeffect,
thenusedthe VST effect‘DubDelay - TAL’to add a delayto the soundeffectsoitsoundedmuffled
witha slightecho,like crawlingthroughavent.

I createda soundeffectnamed‘AB_HitMetal’.Thisisthe onlysoundeffectthatI have createdthat
doesn’tuse MIDIcreatedtracks, but a soundeffectthatwaseditedtosoundlike somethingelse.I
tookthe ‘Plop’ soundeffectthatIusedfor the doors,thenadded3 VSTeffectstothe soundeffectto
make it intoa more metallicsound.Iusedthe VSTeffects ‘Ambience’,‘DubDelay - TAL’and
‘KTGranulator’.Iused‘ambience’toaddan echoingsound,‘DubDelay –TAL’ to add a metallic
effect,and‘KTGranulator’to make the soundmore gritty.Thissoundeffectwasgoingto be used
whenAlex kicksoff the ventinthe monitorroomtomake hisway to the armoury,however,I
