Section 1.0 – Introduction
This report will begin to research thoroughly into cycling safety, looking at all aspects of the issues, such as
accident rates, death rates and the individuals involved. The report will show evidence of many accidents
which occur to people cycling around, either commuting to work, enjoying a leisurely ride or simply getting
from A to B. To fully understand the problems at stake, the research to be taken throughout this report will be
very detailed and thorough. The types of research will include:
Questionnaires

The first one is due to blind spots and lack of visibility caused by heavy traffic and high sided vehicles, in
addition to parked cars etc. The second area of concern is, collisions which can apply at or near intersections
or junctions (T–junctions statistically are the most common but also roundabouts, which were not far behind
statistically).
Throughout the research undertaken for this report, it is evident that there are many accidents which happen
(be it a minor injury or a fatality) within urban areas on the roadside, including motorists. Results could show
that motorists do not pay enough attention to their surroundings and only look for other motorists or it could
suggest that cyclists are reckless whilst in movement. For instance, when swerving in and out of traffic, not
allowing motorists to see them or it could be a mixture of the two.
Section 2.0 – Types of accidents
"There are many accidents which involve cyclists, however there are a few which seem to continuously
reoccur, some of these accidents include:
The rider loses control of their bicycle. 16% of fatal or serious cyclist accidents reported to the police are
caused by the cyclist losing control whilst operating their bicycle.
The driver or rider 'Failed to look properly' whilst driving their car or riding their bicycle.
Poor judgment. The rider or driver causes an accident due to a careless manouvre, overall carelessness,

Weavetech Challenges
Week 3 Milestone 1
1. What are the strategic challenges and opportunities facing WeaveTech?
According to Beer and Swiercz (2015), WeaveTech is a recently purchased apparel business who is looking
to transition into a high end performance clothing market sector. The company is now under a new CEO who
would like to downsize the company management by 20% in three months, due to not having the skills need,
and their traditional customer base shrinking and price sensitivity rising. The main focus has been producing
military and security clothing.
The challenges faced by the newly acquired business are a change in CEO who is introducing a new culture
to the company, new technology and strategic plan, and changing employment policies. The previous ...

WeaveTech could find itself with lawsuits from employees due to downsizing. The company must be
strategic to avoid litigation by employees being laid off. WeaveTech should analyze its staffing patterns to
allow for natural attrition. Put a freeze on new hires, and offer good severance or buy out packages for
employees who will be let go.
Downsizing and layoffs could also impact the company negatively, the "D Corps" managers are noted as
having to high morale, and good work ethic other employees may become discouraged by the downsizing,
investors and the public may also see the downsizing as negative, as WeaveTech attempts to tap into new
business ventures of high performance apparel.
7. How can the legal risks associated with your plan be mitigated?
WeaveTech can offer a severance packages, early retirement or buyouts to employees to reduce the labor
surplus. Employees who accept such a deal should sign an agreement that they will not pursue legal action
against the company (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, & Wright, 2017).

Radio Frequency Identity Tags in Supply Chain Management...
Radio Frequency Identity Tags (RFID) can greatly improve a company's performance. RFID can be used as a
tool for optimizing business processes and improve the efficiency of operations. It is used in a wide variety of
areas.
Here, in this report we will explore the possibility of RFID in supply chain management. It may improve the
potential benefits of supply chain management through increase of the four factors: efficiency, accuracy,
visibility, and security. RFID technology has a great potential to change the business models of companies
and the way the companies are doing their business. Hence, it is interesting to analyse this technology and
find out the present situation and future trends of RFID technology.

Kaufhof installed in its shop in Essen Germany 'smart clothing shelves', 'smart try–out cabins', and 'smart
mirrors'. Levi Strauss & Co. has launched an item–level radio frequency identification (RFID) pilot at one of
its retail stores in Mexico.
What is RFID Technology?
RFID technology is a wireless sensor technology which is based on the detection of electromagnetic signals.
According to Mcfarlane and Sheffi (2003), an RFID based Auto–ID system is made up of a unique
identification number, which is assigned to a particular item, an identity tag, which is attached to the item
with a chip capable of storing a unique identification number, networked RFID readers, and data processing
systems that are capable of collecting signals from multiple tags at high speeds and of pre–processing this
data, and one or more networked databases that store the product information.
In a typical RFID system, the tag and the reader communicate information between one another via radio
waves. When a tagged object enters the readability zone of a reader, the reader signals the tag to transmit its
stored data. Once the data on the tag are received by the reader, the information is relayed back to the
computer via a network interface. The computer can then use that information for a variety of purposes. For
instance, the computer could use the data to simply inventory the object in a

order to tap into additional customer markets. As stated before, they have performed alliances with DC
Comics and Marvel Entertainment to create the Under Armour Alter Ego product lines. They provide their
products directly to consumers through multiple channels such as online websites, specialty stores, retail
store agreements, factory outlets, and catalogs.
Perhaps the greatest weakness faced by Under Armour is its lack of obtaining a patent on the technology that
it used to develop its product. Due to this lack of patent, competitors are able to utilize the same materials to
create a similar product much faster than if a patent was secured. Under Armour failed to protect its brand by
not securing a patent before releasing the products ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Under Armour performs well in quality, product performance, brand image, and innovation, they
perform below their rivals in most of the other areas. Under Armour has a net competitive disadvantage in its
competition with Nike and Adidas.
Recommendations:
The issues that Kevin Plank and Under Armour management need to address are global expansion, supply
chain management, and marketing. Global expansion is paramount if Under Armour wishes to succeed in
taking a larger portion of the athletic apparel industry. Under Armour obtains only 12% of its revenue from
the international market, in comparison to over 50% with Nike and Adidas. My analysis shows that Nike and
Adidas have mastered their craft on a global level. In order to obtain a similar status, Under Armour will
have to expand to international markets.
From the case review, it was obvious that Under Armour has an issue with supply chain management. Under
Armour should look at Wal–Mart in regards to improving their supply chain. In 1989, Wal–Mart was named
Retailer of the Decade due in part to its distribution strategy. Wal–Mart uses radio frequency identification
tag technology to automatically restock the shelves as products are sold. Under Armour could greatly benefit

The Role of in-Film Advertising in Promoting the Sales of...
THE ROLE OF IN–FILM ADVERTISING IN PROMOTING THE SALES OF A BRAND
ABSTRACT
Introduction:
Cinema gives a powerful environment in which to advertise. The film being shown virtually identifies the
target audience and makes it very easy to schedule and buy advertising spots to match brand message to
potential consumers. Better still, the audience is completely captive and in a receptive frame of mind as they
wait to be entertained. A well organized media plan based closely around the films being shown can be a
highly effective way of communicating brand messages to a willing audience. In–film advertising is very
much alive and kicking.
Hence we have formulated the following hypothesis:

RESEARCH QUESTIONS
RESEARCH PROBLEM
The past four to five years has seen an tremendous increase, in the use of in–film advertising. Movies such as
delhi 6, dhoom 1, Don, Aisha , Tees Maar khan etc have visibly made the use of in–film advertising. No
matter if the movie belongs to a big banner or a small banner, whether it is a thumbs up or a super flop,
companies have vigorously used this technique, to advertise their brands and thus increase their visibility.
The question arises as to what makes them invest crores of their funds into this field, is it actually helping
them to promote sales? Has it in fact helping to build up a brand image? And also, if ever it is not converting
the prospective customers into customers, what is the reason behind it's failure?
RESEARCH OBJECTIVES
The objectives of conducting the research are as follows
1. To find out whether people known what in film advertising is?
2. To find out whether the viewers are able to recall the brands being showcased in the movie?

Number Of Bike Riders In The United States
It's calculated that there are about 85 million bike riders in the U.S. over half a million of them wind up in
ERs each year. Nearly 70,000 people are hospitalized every year merely because they didn't wear a helmet.
Putting on a helmet when cycling is the best possible way to keep yourself from suffering a major injury. No
matter if you're an experienced cyclist or a beginner, this is the top rule of cycling. They're cheap and
available at retailers nationwide. Sadly, only a small percentage of bike riders adopt this elementary rule and
many pay the price.
Cycle accident head injury stats are astounding. Nearly one out of every 8 results in brain damage. Moreover,

hard to navigate, especially when combined with people walking about. The risk of injury to the cyclist or an
innocent pedestrian is rather high. It's best to stay off the footpath with your bicycle.
The most dangerous time of day to ride a bike is in the darker hours. Children are especially vulnerable
because of their small size. Cyclists and their bicycles can be hard to see unless they have reflective gear on.
For even higher visibility, headlamps, taillights and even directional lights should be installed on any bike
that will be ridden at nighttime.
No matter where you ride your bike, what type of bike you ride, or your age, cycling can be a whole lot of
fun. You can keep yourself safe by complying with some basic safety principles and donning a properly fitted
helmet. Knowing you're safe and being confident in traffic will make your ride much more enjoyable.

American Eagle is challenged with determining what trends are appropriate for its customers and how to

Infection control
Protective clothing including masks, gloves, gowns and goggles should be worn when coming into contact
with an infected person. The US Centres for Disease Control (CDC) recommend that the protective gear
leaves no skin exposed. These measures should be carried out for those who may handle objects
contaminated by an infected person's body fluids. In 2014, the CDC began recommending that medical
personnel receive training on the proper suit–up and removal of personal protective equipment (PPE); in
addition, a designated person, appropriately trained in biosafety, should be watching each step of these
procedures to ensure they are done correctly. The typical training period for the use of such safety equipment
lasted approximately 12 days in Sierra Leone.
The infected person should be in separated from other people. All equipment, medical waste, patient waste
and surfaces that may have come into contact with body fluids need to be disinfected. During the 2014
outbreak, kits were put together to help families treat Ebola disease in their homes, which include protective
clothing as well as chlorine powder and other cleaning supplies. Education of those who provide care in these
techniques, and the establishment of such barrier–separation supplies has been a priority of Doctors without

the dangerous surroundings, they must find a secluded place to make a home (a bomb shelter is a good
option). In this temporary home, one must be able to provide all the necessities needed to survive. Food and
water is one of the most essential items, along with matches/candles, and blankets. One must prepare for the
worst and ready themselves for any length of time. Along with the bare necessities, one must carry a weapon
of some kind. With any kind of disaster, comes"widespread social disorder and chaos" (Roberts, 2007, p. 4).
With all of the abnormal behaviour, it is important to keep a level of sanity. People need human interaction,
and one may go crazy with a lack of socializing. A little bit of music or art will ensure that "[one] will have a
little soul left until [death]" (Clark, 1941, p. 179). In any form of disaster, the world shuts down and goes into
a panic, like a bee trapped under a glass. Art is a significant role in what brings people together and conserves
normality. In the midst of nuclear war, it is a difficult time for all, so keeping oneself safe, while not hurting
others, would be hoped for. It is important for human life to continue to its best ability so everyone

Sociolotical Analysis of Fashion Essay example
According to many such as Reed–Danahay, Pierre Bourdieu, a French sociologist of the 20th century is
recognized as being among the most instrumental sociologists of our epoch. According to Bourdieu, one's
existence is not merely to exist but in reality is to find existence within a social context in order to find
recognition. According to Bourdieu, individuals strengthen and reproduce their social status within a specific
class through the use of cultural and social capital. Social capital is defined as one's association with
important connections or involvement within society whereas cultural capital is outlined as an individual's
level of knowledge, experiences and education. He argues that social capital and cultural capital is equally ...

Cultural capital which is used as ones knowledge about fashion, how well one knows the latest trends and
history of fashion is essential to be considered as a key person within the field of fashion. Outsiders and
insiders are also distinguished through behavior, their gestures and postures which are able to separate them
from the outsiders. The arrangement and setting of the seats at the fashion show itself shows the positions of
class within the field. The way members are seated at fashion shows show their significance of the social
level within the system, thus representing the representatives within the field in the front rows. It has also
been noted by Joanne Entwistle and Agnes Rocamora that in the fashion field the knowledge concerning art
is more important than that of commerce. "Khan argues that catwalk shows' only purpose is for them 'to be
noticed' by the media and the public more generally, they are also for its participants to be noticed by other
participants itself." (Khan , 2000, pp. 114–127) Through this, Bourdieu's concepts have been analyzed within
the field of fashion which demonstrates that being recognized is vital for reproducing relationships and social
status within the field of fashion through symbolic forms of capital instead of economic capital only.

Abstract:
When we talk about brand, many people will think it's just a noun, or a label to attract others, in my mind, it
can be a person too. Nowadays, an increasing number of people establish their own brands by personal
influence. For example, Michael Jordan, the greatest basketball player in history, known as the god of

It also requires a high demand of personal qualities, which is as important to products to a company. Only
with a high quality of product, could my brand catch public's attention. Thus I need to have a better

Accumulating interpersonal resources in the clothing industry: Firstly, I could participate in more famous
designing competitions, which can increase my experience and catch the public's attention. In this way could
help people to know more about me and increase my exposure rate. Through the process of taking part in
fashion activities, I could also know more friends and clients, which would accumulate my interpersonal
resources and improve the influence of my brand.
Competing and collaborating with strong rivals: The booming market economy offers more space for
marketers to apply their capacities. Besides my own abilities, the best way to build a well–known brand is to
learn more experience from predecessors. For example, I could learn their charming characteristics and
excellent qualities. There are also precious treasures, which I need to seek from their personal skills, such as
how to interact with other people and how to deal with their interpersonal relationships. It can also benefit

Training Aesthetic Laborers Workfare has brought about a specific demand for state and non–state programs

Objectified cultural capital – also introduced by Bourdieu – exists in the form of cultural goods, such as
books, instruments, or art. This form of capital relates to aesthetic labor through workers' possession and
display of particular styles of clothing and/or other bodily accouterments, such as eyeglasses, jewelry,
makeup, nail polish, etc. Drawing on Bourdieu, Wacquant (1995, 2004) introduced the concept of bodily
capital to illustrate the body itself as a form of capital. Bodily capital resides in and is bounded by one's
corporeal body, through which individuals cultivate "abilities and tendencies liable to produce value"
(Wacquant 1995, p. 67) in a given social world. Ashley Mears (Mears 2011), further used the concept of
bodily capital in her research on fashion models to point out that, although a person can enhance his or her
bodily capital, many elements that make up bodily capital, such as height, build, and/or skin color, are fixed,

Street Traffic, Safety, and Accidents
Roads are the backbone and essential modes of transportation, providing many different supports for human
civilization. Among the early and inexpensive technologies available for developing comprehensive traffic,
management proposals are Road capacity, traffic sign (i.e. pavement markings, road sign, etc.), Guard rails,
cross marking etc traffic calming, vehicle parking regulations and controls, pedestrian measures, accident
reduction programs, Bus priority measures. As technology evolved, application of Intelligent Traffic System
(ITS) was introduced. (Olaogbebikan J. E et al. 2013). Street lighting also improves safety for drivers, riders,
and pedestrians. They concluded that on average the presence of street lighting reduces the severity of
injuries by a factor of 3.
Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) are advanced applications which, without embodying intelligence as
such, aim to provide innovative services relating to different modes of transport and traffic management and
enable various users to be better informed and make safer, more coordinated, and 'smarter ' use of transport
networks. Roadways are, unfortunately, the scene where preventable urban fatalities take place. Pedestrians

improve their professional standing and career progression.
The labor market has seen some vast changes over the last decade. This has affected the way in which a
graduate not only enters market but how they must conduct themselves professionally in order to progress
their careers. Three key success factors of overcoming stereotypes, visibility management and professional

technology. This generation more so than any other encompasses the ability to use social media to not only
create a following for an organisation but also to source information and conduct day–to–day business
practices. This stereotype accompanied with workplaces adopting practices that rely heavily on technology
and knowledge of technology in order to conduct business gives graduates a significant and unmatched
professional advantage over those whom are not a member of this group. With trends in business practices
continually evolving generation Y are proving to be the most adaptable in moving towards a technological

A stereotype that has arisen out of a broad understanding of technology is that graduates are lazy and over
rely on technology. Employers also perceive graduates to lack many personable skills due to their heavy

the most significant technological advancements to date. While it may seem as though work life has been

If they were to advertise their line in television ads they would be able to reach a wider audience than what
they have been reaching. American Eagle should not only advertise their brand online but also in catalogs to
show off their fresh hip look. The advantages of advertising on the television and in catalogs are that more
customers will become aware of what American Eagle is and begin to shop at the store. Sometimes word of
mouth is not enough to thrive. The disadvantage of this would be the cannibalism of the internet site because
of AE advertising in many different ways. Also AE might not be able to position itself to be able to set itself
apart from the competition.
Alternative Solution #2 American Eagle should continue to appeal to their targeted market of 16 to 32 year

Eagle should hire fun and energetic employees to represent their company. Advantage of appealing to the 16

oxygen and how that might've caused a dangerous situation. Boukreev responded by saying that climbing
without oxygen was safer for him and he did it to avoid the sudden loss of acclimatization but also to give it

The Pros And Cons Of School Uniforms
The topic of school uniforms has been a common controversial issue throughout a variety of school districts
for many years, and plausibly affirm the impacts requiring a dress code makes on high school students. There
are many arguable pro's and con's to mandating a uniform policy, however the positives heavily outweigh the
negative aspects. After implementing dress code rules, the overall crime rate in Long Beach, California has
dropped 91%, children were less prone to suspension, and the rate of suspension dropped by 90%.
Ultimately, school uniforms make school safer for students, by creating a level sense of unity that reduces
socioeconomic disparities, and encourages children to focus on their studies rather than their physical
appearance. High school is a prevalent time where teens begin to develop as independent adults, searching
for their identity in materialistic things that will never satisfy their ego. Eliminating free dress ultimately
allows these teens to focus on their education, and not permit their wardrobe to demand as much of their
attention. Requiring high school students to wear uniform, creates a "level playing field," reducing the
visibility of socioeconomic disparities simply through the clothes being worn to school. High school is a
pivotal age where identity is being formed and simple things such as not having the newest clothes, or most
stylish shoes in time could alter an individuals confidence. With putting a uniform policy in place, those from
a lower socio–economic status are less likely to feel insecure among those from a higher socio–economic
background. Generally, families with a lower income that are unable to afford the most up to date styles
benefit from uniform. Certainly, it is mendacious that through the implementation of school uniform that
students won't distinguish themselves based on income. However, in many instances, the enforcement of
wearing the same no name brand clothing greatly reduces competition between peers that may be in place.
Many students argue that school uniforms stifle their freedom and the creativity of self expression through
clothing. Living in such a dynamic society, the uniqueness of each individual is what makes our world so full

The Environmental Impact Of The Fast Fashion Industry
Fashion is a clear reflection of the social, economic, political and cultural period. More and more people are
becoming concerned with their style and more importantly, how it affects their wallet. This mindset has
paved the way for the fast fashion industry to flourish. Fast fashion is "clothing [being produced] at
increasingly low prices, prices so low that many consumers consider this clothing to be disposable... the
clothing equivalent of fast food." (Claudio) Consumers are so caught up on the fact that they are getting a
bargain, that they totally disregard the uncomfortable reality surrounding the dark side of mass–consumer
fashion. The fast fashion industry has created a culture of mindless consumerism.
One of the many things, people are unaware of, that is attached to fast fashion, is its environmental impact.
People are completely willing to turn a blind eye to the fact that this business is the second most polluting
industry in the world in order to be trendy. The first, and most obvious environmental impact of the fashion
industry is its pollution of water by the use of harmful, toxic chemicals, dyes, and detergents. "The textile
industry uses more than 8,000 [types of] chemicals annually," (Scott). Some of which, are carcinogenic for
both people and animals. In fact, the World Health Organization reports that in China, polluted water causes
75 percent of diseases and over 100,000 deaths annually. This information about the materials used in their

World War One Influenced Women's Contribution To Fashion
By 1910, women's increased visibility had contributed major changes to fashion and dress; the idea that
women could wear loose fitting, artistically inspired clothing was a reality (Cunningham). The Empire–style,
high waisted gown marked the beginning of the new decade and was a symbol of dress reformer's work as
well as women's gains in society. Dressmakers, designers, and stores took inspiration from classical Greek
dress styles that helped free women from the corset with layers of soft, drapable fabric that allowed working
women to wear functional and beautiful clothes, but also gave women in general more mobility that would be
much needed in the coming decade when WWI swept in. World War 1 came in which a roar and ended with a

that their opposition was not unpatriotic but rather expressing moral duty to oppose an unjust war (Haight).
The idyllic image of women maintaining the home while men fight to protect them did not quite ring true to
many women who were forced to drastically change the way they lived (Haight). Today, the idea that women
can possess both femininity and emotional fortitude is obvious, but such ideas were not common during the

Zara´s Information Technology System
Zara's IT was positioned in the support mode quadrant on the IT strategic impact grid. This demonstrates that
Zara's leadership team understood that their corporate strategy focused on the expansion of the number of
stores selling of high fashion, short life span clothing to young fashion conscious, city dwellers. There was a
relatively low need for reliability and strategic IT, it simply existed to support employees activities (Nolan
and McFarlan, 2005). By implementing a new POS system Zara could potentially have come up against the
following key risks:
1. Increasing security threat: Zara were working from a decentralised IT system based on floppy disks,
providing little opportunity to access highly valuable data on a networked database. The majority of security
breeches originate with careless or vindictive employees (Austin and Darby, 2003). For Zara, there is limited
opportunity for an employee to threaten the system, the worst–case scenario is that they might delete the days
sales records. With such a basic system, there is also limited opportunity for hackers to infiltrate the system
as the data is transferred only once a day to headquarters.
Zara has inadvertently taken an operational approach to mitigating risk through having decentralised stand
alone store systems that interact once a day with headquarters therefore requiring little protection and staff
only having limited access and control over their part of the system, not a network of data (Austin and Darby,

How Reference Groups Exert Influence on Consumer Behavior
A reference group is any person or group that serves as a point of comparison (or reference) for an individual
in forming either general or specific values, attitudes, or a specific guide for behavior. They help us
understand the impact of other people on an individual's consumption beliefs, attitudes, and behavior. It helps
marketers choose their methodology to affect desired changes in consumer behavior. From a marketing
perspective, reference groups are groups that serve as frames of reference for individuals in their purchase or

called normative reference groups. Reference groups that serve as benchmarks for specific or narrowly ...

Reference Group Functions and Types of Influence Exerted
It is possible to further classify reference groups into four types, depending on the function they perform and
the kind of influence they exert reference groups operate by establishing certain norms, roles and status
within the group for members to follow. As explained earlier, norms are unwritten codes or, standards of
conduct that are assigned to individuals within the group. In addition, specific roles have been identified in
group purchasing behavior in the attempt to select the best among alternative brands or makes of a product.
These are described as those of the influencer, the gatekeeper (i.e. the individual who has the maximum
control over the flow of information), the decision maker, the purchaser and, the final user. Status positions
have also been designated within a group. High status of members within a group implies greater power and
influence. Products are sometimes purchased to demonstrate status, for example an elegant dress or, an
expensive car. The influence exerted by the group depends on the type of reference group it is. There are four
general types of groups namely, normative, comparative, status and dissociative groups.

The Importance Of School Dress Code

change can affect rainfall, our health, crops, and even our energy supply among other things.
Across the country and over many areas of our economy climate–related impacts are happening. Ozone layer
depletion is one of the most serious problems faced on earth. It is also one of the reasons which are leading to
global warming. Ozone is a colorless gas which is found in the stratosphere and protects us from harmful
ultraviolet radiations of the sun.
The ozone layer soaks up the harmful radiations and prevents the rays from entering the earth's atmosphere.
Ultraviolet radiations are high–energy electromagnetic waves given off by the sun which if enters the earth's
atmosphere can lead to many environmental issues including global warming, and some health issues for all
living organisms.
The greenhouse effect happens when greenhouse gases collect in the earth's atmosphere. These gases

Throughout the research undertaken for this report, it is evident that there are many accidents which happen (be it a minor injury or a fatality) within urban areas on the roadside, including motorists. Results could show that motorists do not pay enough attention to their surroundings and only look for other motorists or it could suggest that cyclists are reckless whilst in movement. For instance, when swerving in and out of traffic, not allowing motorists to see them or it could be a mixture of the two. Section 2.0 – Types of accidents "There are many accidents which involve cyclists, however there are a few which seem to continuously reoccur, some of these accidents include: The rider loses control of their bicycle. 16% of fatal or serious cyclist accidents reported to the police are caused by the cyclist losing control whilst operating their bicycle. Levi Strauss & Co. has launched an item–level radio frequency identification (RFID) pilot at one of its retail stores in Mexico. What is RFID Technology? RFID technology is a wireless sensor technology which is based on the detection of electromagnetic signals. According to Mcfarlane and Sheffi (2003), an RFID based Auto–ID system is made up of a unique identification number, which is assigned to a particular item, an identity tag, which is attached to the item with a chip capable of storing a unique identification number, networked RFID readers, and data processing systems that are capable of collecting signals from multiple tags at high speeds and of pre–processing this data, and one or more networked databases that store the product information. In a typical RFID system, the tag and the reader communicate information between one another via radio waves. When a tagged object enters the readability zone of a reader, the reader signals the tag to transmit its stored data. Once the data on the tag are received by the reader, the information is relayed back to the computer via a network interface. The computer can then use that information for a variety of purposes. As stated before, they have performed alliances with DC Comics and Marvel Entertainment to create the Under Armour Alter Ego product lines. They provide their products directly to consumers through multiple channels such as online websites, specialty stores, retail store agreements, factory outlets, and catalogs. Perhaps the greatest weakness faced by Under Armour is its lack of obtaining a patent on the technology that it used to develop its product. Due to this lack of patent, competitors are able to utilize the same materials to create a similar product much faster than if a patent was secured. Under Armour failed to protect its brand by not securing a patent before releasing the products ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Under Armour performs well in quality, product performance, brand image, and innovation, they perform below their rivals in most of the other areas. Under Armour has a net competitive disadvantage in its competition with Nike and Adidas. Recommendations: The issues that Kevin Plank and Under Armour management need to address are global expansion, supply chain management, and marketing. Global expansion is paramount if Under Armour wishes to succeed in taking a larger portion of the athletic apparel industry. Under Armour obtains only 12% of its revenue from the international market, in comparison to over 50% with Nike and Adidas. My analysis shows that Nike and Adidas have mastered their craft on a global level. In order to obtain a similar status, Under Armour will have to expand to international markets. From the case review, it was obvious that Under Armour has an issue with supply chain management. Under Armour should look at Wal–Mart in regards to improving their supply chain. In 1989, Wal–Mart was named Retailer of the Decade due in part to its distribution strategy. Wal–Mart uses radio frequency identification tag technology to automatically restock the shelves as products are sold. Under Armour could greatly benefit from this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

THE ROLE OF IN–FILM ADVERTISING IN PROMOTING THE SALES OF A BRAND ABSTRACT Introduction: Cinema gives a powerful environment in which to advertise. The film being shown virtually identifies the target audience and makes it very easy to schedule and buy advertising spots to match brand message to potential consumers. If they were to advertise their line in television ads they would be able to reach a wider audience than what they have been reaching. American Eagle should not only advertise their brand online but also in catalogs to show off their fresh hip look. The advantages of advertising on the television and in catalogs are that more customers will become aware of what American Eagle is and begin to shop at the store. Sometimes word of mouth is not enough to thrive. The disadvantage of this would be the cannibalism of the internet site because of AE advertising in many different ways. Also AE might not be able to position itself to be able to set itself apart from the competition. Alternative Solution #2 American Eagle should continue to appeal to their targeted market of 16 to 32 year olds. AE needs to remind their customers that their brand is comfortable, bold and fresh, and is unlike any of the competition. Store atmosphere is also very important when trying to keep loyal customers. American Eagle should hire fun and energetic employees to represent their company. Advantage of appealing to the 16 to 34 year old range is not many retailers in the market appeal to that wide of an age gap because is difficult. He argues that the tragedy that happened on Mount Everest was not how Krakauer described and Krakauer's lack of experience was what got in the way of his ability to evaluate correctly of the situation. To begin with, he declares that his decisions and actions were based upon his experience of climbing mountains so he had a reason for why he did what he did. At this point in the article, Boukreev is building up his credibility by stating that he had more than 20 years of high altitude climbing and had summited Everest 3 times already. Furthermore, Krakauer raised a question in his letter to Boukreev about how Boukreev climbed without oxygen and how that might've caused a dangerous situation. Boukreev responded by saying that climbing without oxygen was safer for him and he did it to avoid the sudden loss of acclimatization but also to give it to someone else who might run low on oxygen. Krakauer also raised another question about Boukreev's clothing choice on summit day. Krakauer said that Boukreev did not wear adequately clothing to protect him from the weather. On the other hand, Boukreev implies that he wore what he did because in the photographs that he took, he would be in the latest and highest quality clothing. • 61. The Pros And Cons Of School Uniforms The topic of school uniforms has been a common controversial issue throughout a variety of school districts for many years, and plausibly affirm the impacts requiring a dress code makes on high school students. There are many arguable pro's and con's to mandating a uniform policy, however the positives heavily outweigh the negative aspects. After implementing dress code rules, the overall crime rate in Long Beach, California has dropped 91%, children were less prone to suspension, and the rate of suspension dropped by 90%. Ultimately, school uniforms make school safer for students, by creating a level sense of unity that reduces socioeconomic disparities, and encourages children to focus on their studies rather than their physical appearance. High school is a prevalent time where teens begin to develop as independent adults, searching for their identity in materialistic things that will never satisfy their ego. Eliminating free dress ultimately allows these teens to focus on their education, and not permit their wardrobe to demand as much of their attention. Requiring high school students to wear uniform, creates a "level playing field," reducing the visibility of socioeconomic disparities simply through the clothes being worn to school. High school is a pivotal age where identity is being formed and simple things such as not having the newest clothes, or most stylish shoes in time could alter an individuals confidence. With putting a uniform policy in place, those from a lower socio–economic status are less likely to feel insecure among those from a higher socio–economic background. Generally, families with a lower income that are unable to afford the most up to date styles benefit from uniform. Certainly, it is mendacious that through the implementation of school uniform that students won't distinguish themselves based on income. However, in many instances, the enforcement of wearing the same no name brand clothing greatly reduces competition between peers that may be in place. Many students argue that school uniforms stifle their freedom and the creativity of self expression through clothing. Living in such a dynamic society, the uniqueness of each individual is what makes our world so full of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 65. The Environmental Impact Of The Fast Fashion Industry Fashion is a clear reflection of the social, economic, political and cultural period. More and more people are becoming concerned with their style and more importantly, how it affects their wallet. This mindset has paved the way for the fast fashion industry to flourish. Fast fashion is "clothing [being produced] at increasingly low prices, prices so low that many consumers consider this clothing to be disposable... the clothing equivalent of fast food." (Claudio) Consumers are so caught up on the fact that they are getting a bargain, that they totally disregard the uncomfortable reality surrounding the dark side of mass–consumer fashion. The fast fashion industry has created a culture of mindless consumerism. One of the many things, people are unaware of, that is attached to fast fashion, is its environmental impact. People are completely willing to turn a blind eye to the fact that this business is the second most polluting industry in the world in order to be trendy. The first, and most obvious environmental impact of the fashion industry is its pollution of water by the use of harmful, toxic chemicals, dyes, and detergents. "The textile industry uses more than 8,000 [types of] chemicals annually," (Scott). Some of which, are carcinogenic for both people and animals. • 69. World War One Influenced Women's Contribution To Fashion By 1910, women's increased visibility had contributed major changes to fashion and dress; the idea that women could wear loose fitting, artistically inspired clothing was a reality (Cunningham). The Empire–style, high waisted gown marked the beginning of the new decade and was a symbol of dress reformer's work as well as women's gains in society. Dressmakers, designers, and stores took inspiration from classical Greek dress styles that helped free women from the corset with layers of soft, drapable fabric that allowed working women to wear functional and beautiful clothes, but also gave women in general more mobility that would be much needed in the coming decade when WWI swept in. World War 1 came in which a roar and ended with a whimper, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Women were encouraged to join the war effort in any way, especially as compassionate nurses, but if they were to oppose the war or prevent their son, brother, or husband from joining, they were considered overprotective and needed to adjust their attitudes (Haight). However, women's pacifistic groups maintained that their opposition was not unpatriotic but rather expressing moral duty to oppose an unjust war (Haight). The idyllic image of women maintaining the home while men fight to protect them did not quite ring true to many women who were forced to drastically change the way they lived (Haight). Today, the idea that women can possess both femininity and emotional fortitude is obvious, but such ideas were not common during the era, and women were often forced to choose how they wished to adapt and present themselves (Haight). The war propaganda also was used systematically to tell women the definition of "womanhood (Haight)." To quote directly from Haight, "However, those developing these propagandistic ideas had to overcome the hurdle of consolidating the conflicting nature of the nurturing woman and war, for the very definition of a "true" woman was at odds with the violence and aggression of war. • 71. Zara´s Information Technology System Zara's IT was positioned in the support mode quadrant on the IT strategic impact grid. This demonstrates that Zara's leadership team understood that their corporate strategy focused on the expansion of the number of stores selling of high fashion, short life span clothing to young fashion conscious, city dwellers. There was a relatively low need for reliability and strategic IT, it simply existed to support employees activities (Nolan and McFarlan, 2005). By implementing a new POS system Zara could potentially have come up against the following key risks: 1. Increasing security threat: Zara were working from a decentralised IT system based on floppy disks, providing little opportunity to access highly valuable data on a networked database. The majority of security breeches originate with careless or vindictive employees (Austin and Darby, 2003). For Zara, there is limited opportunity for an employee to threaten the system, the worst–case scenario is that they might delete the days sales records. With such a basic system, there is also limited opportunity for hackers to infiltrate the system as the data is transferred only once a day to headquarters. Zara has inadvertently taken an operational approach to mitigating risk through having decentralised stand alone store systems that interact once a day with headquarters therefore requiring little protection and staff only having limited access and control over their part of the system, not a network of data (Austin and Darby, ... It helps marketers choose their methodology to affect desired changes in consumer behavior. As explained earlier, norms are unwritten codes or, standards of conduct that are assigned to individuals within the group. In addition, specific roles have been identified in group purchasing behavior in the attempt to select the best among alternative brands or makes of a product. These are described as those of the influencer, the gatekeeper (i.e. the individual who has the maximum control over the flow of information), the decision maker, the purchaser and, the final user. Status positions have also been designated within a group. High status of members within a group implies greater power and influence. Products are sometimes purchased to demonstrate status, for example an elegant dress or, an expensive car. The influence exerted by the group depends on the type of reference group it is. There are four general types of groups namely, normative, comparative, status and dissociative groups. It's everything that we need for our survival and wellbeing relating directly to our natural surrounding. The changing climate effects society and communities in many ways. For example, climate change can affect rainfall, our health, crops, and even our energy supply among other things. Across the country and over many areas of our economy climate–related impacts are happening. Ozone layer depletion is one of the most serious problems faced on earth. It is also one of the reasons which are leading to global warming. Ozone is a colorless gas which is found in the stratosphere and protects us from harmful ultraviolet radiations of the sun. The ozone layer soaks up the harmful radiations and prevents the rays from entering the earth's atmosphere.
