  • RA 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act) provides for stronger deterrence and special protection against child abuse, exploitation and discrimination, and its corresponding penalties.
    Article 359and 360 of the Civil Code of the Phil. provides that the “government shall establish Councils for the Protection of Children.”

    1. 1. ORGANIZING AND STRENGTHENING OF LOCAL COUNCILS FOR THE PROTECTION OF CHILDREN (LCPC)
    2. 2. WHAT IS LCPC? • Basically it is an institutional mechanism in the LGU that facilitates and implements children’s programs. • It is a council organized in all levels (Prov, City, Municipality and Barangay) that serves as the umbrella organization for children’s concerns. • It is a council fully harnessed to be an efficient and effective advocate of child rights, and implementor of all children’s programs in the barangay.
