“Oh GOSH! Reflecting on Hackteria's Collaborative Practices in a Global Do-It...
Conference script
1. Hello everyone, my name is Álvaro Antón Pérez and as my college Ana I am from
Benidorm too and now I am studying a bilingual master degree at University Rey Juan
Carlos of Madrid. I would like to start from the beginning. When I started to study the
teaching degree four years ago I decided that I wanted to teach in a different way, here
in Spain most of the schools are obsessed with textbooks and the only thing that
teachers do is follow the book.
In my teaching degree I decided my ideology that it is getting away from textbooks
because I believe that there are hundreds of possibilities to teach children without using
a book. Since that moment I started to investigate some teaching possibilities and the
one that I liked most is Literacy, in other words teaching a curricular subject though a
picture book. And that is the reason why I can not leave a bookstore without buying a
picture book.
Now, that I am studying this master degree I have learnt a lot about how to teach
children in other ways and thanks to this ICT course I have learnt that nowadays there
are some schools that are using ICT to teach their students. In this ICT course I created
and Open Educational Digital Project called Horton Hears a Who! With this project I
pretend to teach the Animal Kingdom using just a children’s book and the ICT’s. Thanks
to this project I realised that nowadays there are some worldwide projects working for
teachers to collaborate with, from my point of view this projects are awesome for
teachers to change education once for all. In my OEDP I collaborated with the Twimma
Project that consist in creating a book with the app Book creator and share it with the
world this book will be available in iTunes. My final outcome of my OEDP it is the
creation of a book where the students has to reflect all the learning process. I created
this final outcome but as a teacher I thought how can I improve this book that I have
created? So I asked my Scouts kids to record for me the audio of the book in order to
improve my collaborative work and to give to the world something created by kids to
kids.
To conclude, I would like to say that thanks to this ICT course and all their teaching
learning process I have learnt how to be the teacher I always wanted to be and what is
more this course has given me the strength to continue my ideology to become the
teacher that I always wanted when I was a primary kid.
Thanks for watching me and do not miss anything of my further works and follow me in
twitter I am Pepo65 and follow my blog gettingawayfromtextbooks.
Thanks and Good bye.
