Media Minute Film Analysis
I was in a group with Ben Thomson and Ben Maness, we decided to create a
minute film that filled the genre of mystery and thriller. We decided to
demonstrate our knowledge of camera angles by selecting a variety that
would help support the plot and genre of the film, these included extreme
close ups in an interview along with high angle and low angle shots to show
the facial features of the characters. We wanted to show the how both
characters interacted during the interview and this was best shown with
extreme long shots of both the interviewer and interviewee and the
chemistry between both characters. We used certain techniques such as
zoom and pan to help show when the audience should focus on a certain
character.
During editing we shortened, re arranged, and moved around a lot of the
clips, so the whole piece made sense as a whole. I found it relatively tricky
during the first few minutes of editing, as I had never used a video-editing
program before, however after 5-6 minutes I found it relatively easy to
shorten and stick clips together to create the overall piece that we have now.
We placed lighting tweaks and added certain things to add an overall
sharpness to the piece and add more focus to the camera and detail to the
angles in which the camera was focused.
