2. The commune is located in the mountainous area of the
north-west of the county, on the Slănic River. It is crossed by
the county DJ203K which links to Buzău, descending on the
Slănic valley and on the left bank of Buzău to Maracineni; The
same road leads to the mountain towards Mânzălesti and
Gura Teghii communes.
3. In this commune there are the ruins of the former Ot Menedec monastery, built in 1532
and which was even the episcopal residence of Orthodox during the successive
destruction of Buzau.
