1. Committment letter Well, it´s really difficult for me to decide what kind of leader I want to be in the future, of course I would like to be one, I think everyone enjoys being a leader, because it gives you some kind of power among the people who follow you in order to achieve certain goals, even when your´re not involved in some big project, being the leader always make you feel special. Most of us have experienced this along our student life, when we are assigned to represent our team, or simply, by our own initiative, we take the wheel that will drive the team to the goal we´re searching. But definitively, it´s not power what motivates me to be a leader, yes, I said I feel special when I´m the one in the top, but it´s not my main reason. I think it´s not possible to be a leader if you don´t have people who agree with your ideas and will follow them until they´re done. So, that´s what gives a leader a reason to be and to keep going until the end, to see his team making all the possible effort in order to improve each day, motivated by the words and ideas he expose to all the members, keeping a nice working environment, communicating effectively with them, even making friends between the team members and of course, trying to make them happy with the work they do in order to get a smile every time you see them. And that´s the kind of leader I want to be, someone who makes people feel comfortable with their daily activities, someone who is capable of get their attention instantly, not because people are afraid of him, but because he has something important to say, that surely will make them better persons in the future, someone who people would be proud to say “I want to be like him”, because I think that´s what being a leader is all about, to be the one people would like to be, someone who will be remember forever with the best opinion and someone who will be never compared to any other. The main question here is “how am I going to get to be that leader?” Well, basically I think we can´t say certainly if in a future we will be leaders or not, that depends a lot on the kind of job you get and how comfortable you feel doing it in teams. But a leader can exist inside or outside the organization and we can also be leaders in our family or with ours friends if we wish to and if we take the way that will make them see us as one. But we won´t be able to decide if we are leaders or not, because as I said before, that would depend on people´s preferences and the way we are capable to satisfy them. Most of the times people choose their leaders, not the other way and if that´s the case it will surely be very difficult to adapt to a new work culture. For that reason I want to be a leader who´s position has been decided by the people involved with him, not someone bring to them by force. That way I can assure that they are happy working with me. What´s my strategy? Honestly I can say I´m not planning to be a leader at all, life circumstances will tell me if I´m the chosen to do that job, meanwhile I have nothing to do in order to make that happen, but to be the person I´ve always been. As I wrote on my SWOT analysis, I´m a very trustworthy person, people can be sure that anything that they told me would be keep as a secret even when it´s not that important, but it´s a great value for anyone to know you can trust someone no matter what. I´m really easygoing, I don´t like to get frustrated by problems, it´s better to work out a solution supported by your team, so you can share your fears and get stronger ideas. Getting angry, giving orders or finding guilty people are not my preferred activities so I´d rather avoid them. One of my strongest peers is that I´m a totally responsible person, I would never leave a job in the middle of it´s way just because I don´t find a quickly solution or abandon any task because I got a better offer, when I have a commitment with someone and something I don´t quit until it´s done. Maybe this is extra but it´s something some people like about others and it´s the fact that I´m a friendly person. I really like to meet people and get to know them because they can offer me things others don´t and I also can share with them my ideas and experiences so that we can create a good and greater relation. You never know which people you will meet in the future and those you get to know at least by his nickname would probably be your next boss, so I think being friendly is an important tool for those who aspire to be a leader. As I´ve been saying I don´t know If life will pick me to be a leader, but in the case it does, I would like to be one who people can remember because what I did for them, what they learned from me, and what I change while I was in charge that make them happy while they were comfortable doing their job. I don´t know if that will help the world to be a better place to live, but I´m sure that it will help a lot of persons to achieve their personal goals and to learn that everything is possible, because the day you can´t solve something by yourself, you will have someone who can listen to you and will be proud to help you and see you smiling and getting stronger, motivated by the idea that some day you could be that person, helping others to grow up, and that definitively will make this a better world. As you may see, there are many personal goals that have nothing to do with this letter´s objective, such as having a bulldog and a pug as pets, owning an Audi R8 or skydiving, however these are things that I really want to do in any moment of my life and that I will surely enjoy because I will get them according to my development in my professional life, each peso, dollar or euro I earn will be proudly invested in one of this goals and I know they are very material, but everyone has a dream in life, and many of that dreams have to do something with money, so there´s no better way of achieving these personal goals, that combining them with what you´re planning to do in your professional life. I repeat, I know that goals are off the topic, but I want to see them realized some day and this is how everything comes to the end, I want to be remembered as a person who did everything he wanted, no matter how, when and why, he just did it.
