position will support setting the strategic direction and prototype relevant initiatives
for the City of Melbourne's (CoM) Smart City approach.The role will focus on
formalising and implementing CoM's Smart City agenda, taking a 'learn by doing'
approach.You will be tasked with co-designing this approach with internal and
external stakeholders, and overseeing relevant pilot and prototyping initiatives
across Council and relevant third party partners. Some of the specific content matter
will include Melbourne's 'startup' agenda, an Innovation / Knowledge Precinct, and
projects in the waste management, transportation and sustainability
domains. Additionally, you will also have close involvement with CoM's Knowledge
strategy, and require an appreciation of the technology/ digital and infrastructure
requirements to deliver on the Smart City and Knowledge goals for Melbourne. This
role will work alongside the team leaders of the Smart City Office from CityLab,
Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Research and Open Data. It will play a strong
collaboration role working with business partners across CoM, from Transport,
Engineering Services, Placemaking and Engagement, Corporate and Strategic
Marketing (CASM) and the Queen Victoria Market (QVM) teams, amongst others. It will
also play a key role in collaborating with external partners, universities and selected
layers of State and Federal government. We are looking for a high level strategic
thinker who has proven experience in strategy design and implementation; delivering
major strategic change programs; senior stakeholder engagement experience; high
level project management skills coupled with technology / digital and smart
infrastructure expertise
