Equivalent HA units of 1918 VLP, A/Swine/Iowa/15/30, A/Weiss/43, A/USA/L3/1947, A/USSR/92/77 and A/New Caledonia/20/99 influenza viruses were absorbed onto ELISA plates. An ELISA was performed using serial 1:5 dilutions of monoclonal antibodies 1F1, 1I20, 2B12 or an H5-specific control human monoclonal antibody. Relative binding (y axis) indicates optical density in ELISA binding assay to absorbed VLP or virus. What does the graph show/mean in relation to the experiment? ( ng m l 1 ).

Figare 11.1. When these F 1 offspring self-pollinated, the next generation ( F 2 ) showed both traits in a 3.1 ratio. The trait shown in the F 1 was always the more commen trait in the F 2 , with 3 out of every 4 offspring expressing it. See Figure 11.2 . Figure 11.2. Essentially, Mendel's explanation for what he saw was: 1. Traits are controlled by what he called "factors" and which we now call genes. 2. An organism has a pair of genes for each trait. We now know that cach gene is located on one of two similar (homologous) chromosomes. 3. An organism mandomly inherits one gene from each of its parents' pair of genes. Thus, its own pair consists of one gene that is puternal and one gene that is maternal. 4. The pairs of genes can be identical, or they can be different. If they are the same, the organism is said to be homoxygous; if different, the organism is said to be heterozygous. Different versions of genes are called alleles. Thus, an organism with two different alleles is heterozygous and one with identical alleles is homozygous. 5. Contrasting alleles can vary in their effect. Since his F 1 generation resembled only one of the parents, while both of the traits present in the parents reappeared in the F 2 generation, he concluded that the factons do not blend or disappear. He defined a rule of dominance to explain this: The allele that determines the appearance of a heterozygote is called the dominant allele. The one that is hidden is the recessive allele. The visible outcome of the genes is the phenotype, while the actual genetic outcome is the genotype. The 3 : 1 ratio in the F 2 generation refers specifically to 3 dominant traits being expressed for every one recessive. Today you will examine several traits that illustrate Mendel's basic explanations for patterns of inheritance. You will also see some ways in which these basic explanations can be used to study human genetics and to understand how to do pedigree analysis. EXERCISE 1. REVIEW OF BASIC GENETICS TERMS PROCEDURE Using your lecture materials and textbook as a reference, review the following genetic situation and answer the questions that follow. When a true-breeding brown mink is crossed with a true-breeding silver-blue mink they produce offspring all with the same phenotype: brown. When these F 1 mink were crossed amongst themselves, they produced 47 brown animals and 15 silver-blue animals ( F 2 generation). 1. What does the gene being discussed code for? 2. What allelles for this gene are being discussed? 3. Which one of these alleles is dominant and how do you know it is dominant? 4. Which one of the alleles is recessive and how do you know it is recessive? 5. What does F 1 stand for? Explain what the F 1 generation is. F = childien 1 = Grotaeneration 6. What is the meaning of the word phenotype? In this particular case, what was the phenotype of the F 1 ? 7. If you were studying genotypes, what would you be looking at? In general, what different genotypes can you find i.

In the final stage of a game show, the host offers Fellx a choice between (A) $9 million for sure, or (B) a gamble that pays $1 million with probability 0.4 and $16 million with probability 0.6 . Use the blue curve (drole points) to graph Fellix's ublity function at wealth levels of $0 , $1 mullion, $4 millon, $9 million, and $16 million. True or False: Felix is risk averse. True False Choice offers Felix a higher expected prize. (Hint: The expected value of a random variable is the weighted average of the possible outcomes, where the probabilities are the weights.) Choice offers Felix a higher expected utility. Fellix should pick choice.

Program code examples (known also as worked examples) play a crucial role in learning how to program. Instructors use examples extensively to demonstrate the semantics of the programming language being taught and to highlight the fundamental coding patterns. Programming textbooks allocate considerable space to present and explain code examples. To make the process of studying code examples more interactive, CS education researchers developed a range of tools to engage students in the study of code examples. These tools include codecasts (codemotion, codecast, elicasts), interactive example explorers (WebEx, PCEX), and tutoring systems (DeepTutor). An important component in all types of worked examples is code explanations associated with specific code lines or code chunks of an example. The explanations connect examples with general programming knowledge explaining the role and function of code fragments or their behavior. In textbooks, these explanations are usually presented as comments in the code or as explanations on the margins. The example explorer tools allow students to examine these explanations interactively. Tutoring systems, which engage students in explaining the code, use these model explanations to check student responses and provide scaffolding. In all these cases, to make a worked example re-usable beyond its presentation in a lecture, the explanations have to be authored by instructors or domain experts i.e., produced and integrated into a specific system. As the experience of the last 10 years demonstrated, these explanations are hard to obtain. Those already collected are usually “locked” in a specific example-focused system and can’t be reused. The purpose of this working group is to support broader re-used of worked examples augmented with explanations. Our current plan is to develop а standard approach to represent explained examples. This approach will enable an example created for any of the existing systems to be explored in a standard format and imported into any other example-focused system. We plan to follow a successful experience of the PEML working group focused on re-using programming exercises.

A procedure when multiple vendors are asked to submit proposals for a supply contract or project. It helps businesses to assess offers and select the best vendor based on factors like cost, quality, and other relevant factors. In Odoo 17, the Call for Tenders feature has undergone significant improvements, making procurement process management more efficient and seamless. Accessing and managing this feature can still be done through the same interface as Blanket Orders, with the addition of creating an exclusive agreement type for Call for Tenders.
