Question 7
1.
2. During our filming and editing process we experienced some
dilemmas;
Camera Angles
Editing
Mise-en-scene
3. In our Preliminary task we had many different shots that
had to be used, these shots were harder than
expected to carry out, an example of this would be
the door scene. This scene was meant to be a match
on action shot but when we put it into prospective it
was harder to do as the doors where different, this
made it harder for the scenes to flow and lead to the
scenes becoming inconsistent to one another.
When we started editing to make the shots
link and work better we had to increase the
speed level, this made it link better but
looked as if we had a two second shot as it
was two fast.
4. Throughout our task, we have learnt how
one problem can lead into several other
issues, such as our camera was angled
differently at the beginning. This made it
look like the audience were on the edge.
This could be resolved if we levelled out our
tripod equally.
We have also learnt that editing
can be difficult, when using a
match on action shot. This is due
to the difficultly of making a
sequence flow by all the different
angles becoming one linked
scene.
5. Watching our Preliminary Task back to ourselves, we
have noticed there are a lot of problems that can be
spotted but the main problem we have noticed was
the speed of the shots. The preliminary task is a total
of 0.46 seconds. The conversation is rushed and
doesn’t give enough time to be able to understand
the full concept of the story.
Another issue found was Scott’s motivation through
the scene. His hands and balance is still, when the
camera views Aimie, however shot of Scott he is
leaning to one side and has his hands over his mouth
when speaking. When Scott speaks it is unclear and
makes it harder for an audience to understand what
he is saying. This was a major problem as if you cant
understand what Scott is saying you become lost
within the story.
6. Our editing techniques were
not the professional style,
however we did realise the
shots which were cut flowed
to fast into the next. This
made it difficult for the
audience to be able to
concentrate on what was
happening.
Another mistake, was the
exactly the same shot was
placed twice. This shot was
of Aimie speaking to Scott
after he walks into the room.
No effects or soundtracks were added
into our task during the actual clip. This
would have made the type of situation
more intense, also the type of lighting.
The light behind Aimie makes Scott
appear more in the light leaving Aimie
with the light behind her in the dark.
7. Although the preliminary task seemed
hard to accomplish in the beginning, if
we were asked to complete the task
now, the outcome would most
definitely be improved compared to our
first attempt.
After completing the full product, the
preliminary task now seems like a brief
warm-up compared to the main
Thriller sequence we created.
8. Thank you, for reading our presentation
We both enjoyed using a different style of
technology to create the answer for our
evaluation.
