3. PROXEMICS
1-Proxemics is a type of non verbal communication.
2-It is the study of how we communicate with the space around
us.
3-It involves how we arrange personal space and what we arrange
in it.
4. DEFINITION
"The interrelated observations and theories of man’s
use of space as a specialized elaboration of culture”.
Edward T. Hall, The cultural anthropologist who
coined the term in 1963, emphasized the impact of
proxemic behavior (the use of space) on interpersonal
communication.
5. TYPES OF PROXEMICS
There are 4 categories in Proxemics namely
1. Intimate
2. Personal
3. Social
4. Public
