2. SUMMARY
• The City of Alamo Heights entered into a contract to collect delinquent taxes with
Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson, LLP Attorneys at Law (LGB&S) on May 8,
2006
• Contract was renewed for a period ending May 31, 2010
• Ordinance 1872 authorized an agreement from July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2015
•Ordinance 2027 authorized an agreement from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2020
• The firm has provided excellent collection services for fourteen years
• Collection fees for delinquent taxes are limited by the Texas Property Tax Code to
20%
3. BACKGROUND
•LGB&S works closely with the Bexar County District
Clerk, Sheriff’s Department and Judiciary and is
proactive in its effort to collect taxes for Bexar County,
Alamo Heights Independent School District and the
City
•Past collection rates over the past fourteen years has
been in the 96% to 99% range
5. FISCAL IMPACT
• The resolution will provide the City with a continuing
and steady revenue source with minimal impact to
the workload for City staff
• Cost is minimal and the collection fees have not
increased and are paid by the delinquent tax
payers
