Asher, the tenth son of Jacob and Zilpah. An explanation of dual personality. The first Jekyll and Hyde story. For a statement of the Law of Compensation that Emerson would have enjoyed, see Verse 27.
The seventh son of Jacob and Bilhah. The jealous one. He counsels against anger saying that "it giveth peculiar vision." This is a notable thesis on anger.
The Book of Habakkuk is the eighth book of the 12 minor prophets of the Bible. It is attributed to the prophet Habakkuk, and was probably composed in the late 7th century BC. The original text was written in the Hebrew language.
The Greek version of Esther, found in the Septuagint, contains six additions not found in the Hebrew version of Esther that is in most Bibles. These additions to Esther consist of a prologue, prayers by Mordecai and Esther, the texts of the decrees from King Ahasuerus, amplifications to, and elaborations of, the narrative, and a postscript.

The Story of Ahikar, folktale of Babylonian or Persian origin, about a wise and moral man who supposedly served as one of the chief counselors of Sennacherib, king of Assyria (704–681 bc). Like the biblical Job, Ahikar was a prototype of the just man whose righteousness was sorely tested and ultimately rewarded by God.
(A Psalm of David.) The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. Psalm 27:1,3,14

2. KAPITOLA 1
Asher, desátý syn Jákoba a Zilpy.
Vysvětlení dvojí osobnosti. První
příběh Jekylla a Hyda. Pro prohlášení
o zákonu kompenzace, který by
Emerson měl, viz verš 27.
1 Opis závěti Ašerovi, co mluvil svým
synům ve sto dvacátém pátém roce
svého života.
2 Když byl ještě zdravý, řekl jim:
Poslouchejte, synové Ašerovi, svého
otce, a já vám oznámím vše, co je přímé
v Hospodinových očích.
3 Dva způsoby dal Bůh synům lidským,
a dva sklony a dva druhy jednání a dva
způsoby jednání a dva problémy.
4 Proto jsou všechny věci dvojí, jedna
proti druhé.
5 Jsou totiž dvě cesty dobra a zla, a
podle toho je rozlišují dva sklony
našich prsou.
6 Má-li tedy duše zalíbení v dobrém
sklonu, všechny její činy jsou ve
spravedlnosti; a jestliže zhřeší, ihned
činí pokání.
7 Nebo když myslí své na spravedlnost
a zavrhuje špatnost, hned svrhává zlo a
vykořeňuje hřích.
8 Má-li však sklon ke zlému, všecko
jeho jednání je v ničemnosti, zahání
dobré, přilne ke zlému a vládne mu
Beliar; i když působí, co je dobré,
převrací to ke zlému.
Boha a křivě přísahá proti Nejvyššímu,
a přesto se slitovává nad chudými:
Hospodina, který přikázal zákon, ruší a
pobuřuje, a přece občerstvuje chudé.
16 Duši poskvrňuje, tělo rozmazluje;
mnoho zabíjí a málokoho lituje: i toto
má dvojí aspekt, ale celek je zlý.
17 Jiný se dopouští cizoložství a
smilstva, a zdržuje se pokrmů, a když
se postí, dopouští se zlého, a mocí
bohatství svého přemáhá mnohé; a přes
svou přílišnou špatnost plní přikázání. I
zlé sklony svými dobrými skutky;
neboť ti, kteří jsou dvojí, neslouží Bohu,
ale svým žádostem, aby se líbili
Beliarovi a lidem jim podobným.
24 Jeden nenávidí milosrdného a
rozmarnosti.
28 Smrt následuje život, potupa ke
slávě, noc ke dni a tma ke světlu; a
všechny věci jsou pod dnem, jen věci
pod životem, nespravedlivé věci pod
smrtí; pročež i věčný život očekává
smrt.
31 Dbejte tedy i vy, mé děti, na
přikázání Páně, následujte pravdu s
jednotnou tváří.
32 Ti, kdož mají dvojí tvář, jsou vinni
dvojím hříchem; neboť oba dělají zlé
věci a mají potěšení v těch, kdo to dělají,
Páně, mluvte v nich a odpočívejte v
nich.
34 Neboť poslední konce lidí ukazují
svou spravedlnost či nespravedlnost,
když se setkají s anděly Páně a
Satanovými.
35 neboť když duše utrápená odchází,
je mučena zlým duchem, kterému také
sloužila v žádostech a zlých skutcích.
36 Je-li však pokojný s radostí, potká
anděla pokoje a ten jej uvede do života
věčného.
37 Nestaňte se, mé děti, jako Sodoma,
která zhřešila proti andělům Páně a
zahynula navěky.
38 Vím totiž, že zhřešíte a budete
vydáni do rukou svých nepřátel; a vaše
země bude zpustošena a vaše svatá
místa zničena, a budete rozptýleni do
čtyř koutů země.
39 A budete zničeni v rozptýlení
mizejícím jako voda.
40 Dokud Nejvyšší nenavštíví zemi,
sám přijde jako člověk, s lidmi, kteří
jedí a pijí, a nerozbijí hlavu draka ve
vodě.
41 Zachrání Izrael a všechny pohany,
Bůh mluví v osobě člověka.
42 Proto i vy, děti moje, říkejte tyto
věci svým dětem, aby ho neposlouchaly.
43 Neboť jsem poznal, že jistě budete
neposlušní a jistě bezbožně jednati,
moji bratři, a nebudete znát své země,
kmen a jazyk.
45 Ale Hospodin vás shromáždí ve víře
skrze své něžné milosrdenství a kvůli
Abrahamovi, Izákovi a Jákobovi.
46 A když jim to řekl, přikázal jim, řka:
Pohřbte mě v Hebronu.
47 A usnul a zemřel v dobrém stáří.
48 Jeho synové udělali, jak jim přikázal,
a odnesli ho do Hebronu a pohřbili ho s
jeho otci.
