* Conformers are a Status Quo Managers delight…

* The worst of the worst methods in management are

the ones copied from manufacturing and brought
into knowledge work where the source of
production is inside the head rather than external in
the former case
* Or practices copied from the Military where there is
an imminent threat of death for the incumbent and
his team…. In business nothing of that sort exists…
if things turn upside down in the worst case… all go
home.. You find another job… the founder starts
another business… the VC/PE underwrite their loss
or make a distress sale

One of the Fallacies is the Leadership Followership model
We have seen long back that that works only when irrationality prevails and you have
some scope to influence someone else
When rationality prevails the best thing you can do is lay down the facts and
arguments and let everyone make up their own mind
The leader follower concept has a serious problem if the goal is to change the world.
Followership is basically compliance... its success hangs on the improbable probability
of the capability of the leader to change the world, assuming the leader knows all…
And uses his blind faithful followership to execute on his whims and fancies. an
unquestionable leadership also faces the improbability of making rational decisions in
light of the fact that his decisions will not be questioned anyway.
The leader follower model also faces multiple single points of failure and the so called
followership faces an immense opportunity of disgruntlement and helplessness. The
leader follower model also maximizes incompetence in the followership.
All of the adjectives on the earlier slide don't work in the leader follower model at all.
The rest of the folks are just conforming! and conformance doesn’t change the world
much....

* There is no way you can capitalize on people with these

adjectives to work with you in changing the world…
* If you want to take the Top Down Management and Command
and Control Route
* The only way is a Bottom Up Empowered Organizations
* And the only way to Lead them is to use Critical Thinking
rather than Power or Authority or some concept of
Leadership-Followership or Democracy…
* Just Pure Rational Reasoning to make collaborative
decisions…
* Tolerance is a virtue… Collaboration is the method and
Changing the World is the Game

You find another job… the founder starts another business… the VC/PE underwrite their loss or make a distress sale *
  • 9. * * * * * * * * One of the Fallacies is the Leadership Followership model We have seen long back that that works only when irrationality prevails and you have some scope to influence someone else When rationality prevails the best thing you can do is lay down the facts and arguments and let everyone make up their own mind The leader follower concept has a serious problem if the goal is to change the world. Followership is basically compliance... its success hangs on the improbable probability of the capability of the leader to change the world, assuming the leader knows all… And uses his blind faithful followership to execute on his whims and fancies. an unquestionable leadership also faces the improbability of making rational decisions in light of the fact that his decisions will not be questioned anyway. The leader follower model also faces multiple single points of failure and the so called followership faces an immense opportunity of disgruntlement and helplessness. The leader follower model also maximizes incompetence in the followership. All of the adjectives on the earlier slide don't work in the leader follower model at all. The rest of the folks are just conforming! and conformance doesn’t change the world much.... *
  • 10. * There is no way you can capitalize on people with these adjectives to work with you in changing the world… * If you want to take the Top Down Management and Command and Control Route * The only way is a Bottom Up Empowered Organizations * And the only way to Lead them is to use Critical Thinking rather than Power or Authority or some concept of Leadership-Followership or Democracy… * Just Pure Rational Reasoning to make collaborative decisions… * Tolerance is a virtue… Collaboration is the method and Changing the World is the Game * Welcome to Chutzpah!!! *
