Immaculate Heart of Mary parish in Grand Junction decides that they need to build a new church to accommodate its growing congregation. They send mailers out to all of the members of their parish soliciting commitments from them in the form of donations to help finance the new construction of the church. Marvin and Melba Malevolent send in their pledge card committing $5,000 to the construction project. A month later they attend mass and are disturbed by the contents of the homily the priest gives during the church service. The following Monday they contact the parish and tell them they are not going to contribute the $5,000 they previously promised. What result? Explain your legal reasoning..
