3. What is Energy Rationalization?
• The rationalization is defined as a process or a reorganization concept
that is implemented to boost efficiency and productivity.
• An essential need for rationalization is because the process helps in
conserving resources.
• A set of procedures to reduce the amount of energy used to a
minimum quantity without compromising the well-being, or to
influence the level of performance.
• A reduced energy consumption will help in reducing the carbon
emission and sustainability of the environment.
4. Electricity rationalization?
• It is possible to obtain savings of electric energy in households, as
well as corporate or industrial set up.
• Rational use of appliances in the best operating modes can reduce
the final consumption of electricity, representing a positive impact on
improving the environment quality.
5. Electricity rationalization in Bahrain
• The population of Bahrain is 1,494,090 people according to the 2017
census, and the total energy consumption is approximately 16,559
GWh.
• Fifty percent of this amount is consumed in the residential sector.
• Furthermore, the energy mix of Bahrain is heavily dependent on fossil
fuels
6. Current and future scenario of Electricity
Consumption in Bahrain
• Despite the global trend for
consumption per capita to
decrease, with per capita
electricity consumption of 19,592
kWh in 2014, Bahrain remains in
the top five countries with the
highest per capita electricity
consumption in the world

9. Conclusion
• Bahrain is among top five countries in energy consumption in the
world.
• Bahrain is using fossil fuel to generate electricity that cause severe
environmental effects.
• Government started various schemes and taken initiatives to make
electricity production and distribution efficient.
• The government is making effort to reduce household consumption.
• The future looks contributing positively in environmental
sustainability and electricity rationalization.
