2. Tim Burtons Sweeney Todd
•
Both ‘Dreamworks’ and ‘Warner Bros. Pictures’ company logos start off the opening scene for Sweeney
Todd, however the images have been darkened to give an insight in to the audience that film will be seen as ‘dark’
and ‘grim’.
•
With that, loud harsh music is played on the organ. This gives off a theatrical theme to the audience as the film is
a musical and is shown on west end theatres.
•
The music stops and the sound effects of a rain storm starts, linking to the images of rooftops of a city.
•
The images are cartoon like, this is because Tim Burton is known for his other cartoon film work. It also plays off
the original Sweeney Todd and is seen as a less serious version of it.
•
Gentle orchestra music starts to play as the image shows a barber chair via the window and a drop of blood falls
on to the window. This gets the audience relating the two as the film is called, ‘Sweeney Todd the Demon Barber
of Fleet Street.’
•
As the music continues, the camera follows a trail of blood leading down from the barber chair to under the floor
causing a mechanism to set off.
•
From this, the music starts to get more dramatic and this is when the title of the film comes up. This symbolizes
that it is going to be a very dramatic film.
•
The titles then drop down off the screen. This is symbolic towards the main characters actions in the film.
3. Edward Scissorhands
•
The 20th centaury fox logo starts this movie off whilst playing some gentle
orchestra music.
•
Its also snowing, implying that the weather will be a big part within the movie.
•
The name of the title then comes up and then parts like scissors supporting the
purpose of the film.
•
The camera then pans around the scene of a castle. This implies that the castle
will also take a big part within the film.
•
Whilst the camera is panning, the name of the actors come up, This lets the
audience know who will be in the film.
•
The ending scene of the opening titles is a long shot of the castle and snow falling
down on it, this finalizes that both things will be a big part in the film.
