Closed circuit television(CCTV) system is the use of
Video cameras to transmit a signal to a specific,
limited set Of monitors.
It differs from broadcast television in that the signal
is no openly transmitted
 1942-German engineer Walter Bruch was responsible for the design and
installation of the CCTV security camera surveillance system.
 1956-First VCR produced by Ampex Corporation.
 1960-First digital camera signals used in cameras over analog by NASA.
 1996-First internet protocol(IP) was released by Axis Communication
Setup of cctv system
HOW DO CCTV CAMERAS WORK ?
 CCTV camera captures images, and
transmit continuous video signal .
 The DVR keeps all these analog signal,
digitalize it, and keep the record in the
HDD
TYPES OF CCTV CAMERAS
 Indoor cameras
 Outdoor cameras
 IR cameras
 Dome cameras
 Bullet cameras
INDOOR CAMERAS
1. Used for indoor security mechanism.
2. Suitable for securities in
 Homes
 Schools
OUTDOOR CAMERAS
1. Used for Out door places
2. Mostly Used for entry and
exit point
3. These camers has hard shell
vandal proof casing
BULLET CAMERAS
o Bullet cameras are small (2 to 2.5 inches long)
o These are limited to a fixed focal length lens.
o Bullet cameras are good for small spaces, the
images may have slightly cut-off corners
because the camera shape and design can
interfere with the actions of the of the
camera lens and filter.
IR cameras and
working
 IR cameras stands for Infra Red cameras
 The lens Of the camera is surrounded by LEDs .
 It work on principle by sensing the amount of light in surrounding.
IR CAMERAS
DOME CAMERAS
 It is a 360degree cameras.
 It works on the principle of
movement sensors.
 This camera is also known as
hidden camera
WIRELESS CCTV SYSTEMS
 The camera contains a wireless
radio (RF) transmitter.
 This transmitter broadcasts the
camera's video, which can be
picked up by a receiver, which will
be connected to a monitor or
recording device.
 Some receivers have built-in
storage, while others must be
connected to a DVR.
THE FUTURE OF CCTV CAMERAS
 The future of CCTV is –IP CCTV.
 We can store and retrieve both analog and digitally recorded video footage.
 IP CCTV has seen a massive boom.
WORKING OF IP CAMERAS
CENTRALIZED IP CAMERAS
IMPORTANCE OF IP CAMERA OVER OTHER
CCTV CAMERAS
