2. The Riot Club
For this website layout I took inspiration
from The Riot Club website for many
reasons. Firstly The Riot Club is a British Film
which is one of the genres of our own film
trailer, so it felt necessary to include some
of the codes and conventions associated
with the British Genre. Secondly this website
layout is very visually pleasing as it’s simple
and easy to understand. Not only that but
the colours used complement each other,
the fuchsia colour emphasises what parts
of the page are important. In this instance
it is the name of the film and when it is
being released in cinemas. Overall this
layout is one of our favourites and we feel it
would work well with our film trailer.
3. Dear John
This film website is for the Film Dear John, which has
melodrama aspects to it, which is part of the genre we
have chosen for our film. This website layout is slightly
different to others as the film doesn’t have its own
website; it actually has a page within the Sony Pictures
Entertainment website. This could be problematic for us
as our ancillary tasks (website) needs to have two
working hyperlinks; this specific layout only has hyperlinks
to social media. To combat this I have added another
navigation Bar just for our film, this would lead to other
pages that have more information on our film and film
trailer. There are some things about this layout that we
liked, for example, the way in
which the background image
is the same as the film poster
but has been distorted slightly
so that it fades into the
background and doesn’t
draw attention away from the
rest of the website.
4. Nowhere Boy
This layout is based on the British
film Nowhere Boy website. It is
very simple with a photo (which
changes every few seconds)
taking up over ¾ of the page, a
navigation bar just below it and
social media and other links at the
bottom of the page. Everything
on the website is centred this
makes it look neater and more
appealing, this is something we
could consider when making our
website. Something else that we
find interesting about this website
is that everything is minimal,
hardly any writing or images and
very simple colours (black and
white). Overall there are parts of
this website that we would
definitely consider using.
