2. • Planet Earth is a nature documentary series, it includes
11 episodes, and has been running for 5 years.
• Planet Earth was the first nature documentary to be
filmed in high definition, and was also the most
expensive nature documentary series ever.
• The series started in 2006.
• It has won numerous awards, including 4 emmys!
• Planet earth is narrated by David Attenborough.
• The series includes 11 episodes, each showing a
different habitat on earth, the episodes are 50
minutes each.
3. 1.‘From Pole to Pole
The first episode illustrates a journey
around the glove and reveals the gradual
climatic change and seasonal transitions
throughout the journey. Animals that they
focus on include penguins in Antarctica,
polar bears in the Arctic and leopards in
Russia.
4. 2. Mountains• The second episode focuses on the mountains, with all main
ranges explored. Including famous ranges such as the Andes, the
Alpine summits, the Rockies, the Himilayas. The episode also
includes the earth’s biggest mountain glacier the Baltoro in
Pakistan, which is visible from space!
5. 3. Fresh Water
This episode explores the course taken by
rivers and some of the species that take
advantage of this habitat. It explores
tropical downpours, waterfalls and rivers.

example Mexico’s Cave of Swallows,
the Yucatan Peninsula and Borneo’s
Dear Cave and Gomantong Cave.

• This episode shows the harsh environment of the
desert which covers a third of the land on Earth.

Antarctic. Looking at the different species in

• This episode shows great plains and the
habitats they create focusing on the
savanna, steppe, tundra, prairie and looks at
the different ecosystems.

rainforests, which although only take up 3% of
the world hold over half of the world’s
species. It focuses on the jungle in New
Guinea.

most marine life.The programme looks at
the coral reefs of Indonesia, and Southern

• The final episode in this nature

ocean, looking at the sea floor and showing
some of the most famous and fascinating
creatures such as the largest mammal on
earth the blue whale.
