selama kelaparan di Sudan. Gambar ini
menggambarkan seorang anak mengalami
kelaparan diintai oleh burung hering (pemangsa).
Anak ini merangkak menuju kamp pangan PBB
yg lokasinya terletak 1 kilometer jauhnya. Tidak
ada yg tau apa yg terjadi kepada anak ini,
termasuk photographer yang meninggalkan
tempat kejadian segera setelah mengambil foto
tsb. Dia menceritakan kepada teman-temannya
bahwa ia berharap dapat telah campur tangan.
wartawan pada saat itu diperingatkan untuk tidak
menyentuh korban kelaparan karena takut
penyakit. 3 bln kemudian dan hanya beberapa
minggu setelah diberikan hadiah Pulitzer, kevin
bunuh diri
