2. Objectives:
Preventing injuries
Being able to work without discomfort or pain
Reducing unnecessary movements
Saving time and getting the work done more efficiently.
3. 1
Ergonomics ?
Study of work or
Science of designing the job to fit the worker
Why Ergonomics?
To Prevent disorders such as:
• Poor posture
• Eye strain
• Joint pain
• Muscle fatigue, shoulder, neck, back pain
• High level of frustration, time pressure
• Poor circulation
• Numbness, tingling sensation
4. Principle of Ergonomics:
Work in Natural Posture
The best positions in which to work are those that keep the body "in neutral."
Maintain the "S-Curve" of the spine
Your spinal column is shaped more or less like an "S."
5.
6. Does the Curve of the Back of Chair fit into Your Low Back?
7. With your shoulders relaxed, are the armrests slightly below your elbows?.
Do your arms hang comfortably at your sides?
8. Is the chair height adjusted so that your feet rest comfortably flat on the floor or
footrest, with your knees just slightly lower than the hips?
9. Look at the depth of the seat pan. Is there a small gap (2 to 4inches) between the
back of your legs and the front edge of the seat pan?
10. WHEN VIEWING THE MONITOR
Is it in front of you and the top line of print is at or just below eye level or
Are you able to scan the screen from top to bottom using only eye movements, not head movements?
A minimum of one
arm distance ( 30 cm
) is to be between
your eyes and the
monitor.
Periodically rest your
eyes by closing them
for five seconds.
.
11. keys at the same height as your elbows or slightly below your elbows?
Type with the tips of the fingers
16. When Reading the Documents.
Is the document off the flat work surface and at the same distance as the
monitor screen?.
17.
18. Safe lifting Practices
Get Close to the
Load
Bend your Knees
- Not your Back!
Use Large Leg Muscles
to Rise Until Standing
19. Office Exercise:
To be healthy the human body needs to be moved, exercised and stretched.
One Principle : Leave your position after each 30 minutes of excessive work, walk around and stretch.
20. Take Care of Your Health- It is the Real Wealth
Shortlist Speech of CEO Coca Cola
Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling
some five balls in the air. You name them – Work,
Family, Health, Friends and Spirit and you’re
keeping all of these in the air.
You will soon understand that work is a rubber
ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the
other four Balls – Family, Health, Friends and
Spirit – are made of glass. If you drop one of
these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked,
nicked, damaged or even shattered. They will
never be the same. You must understand that and
strive for it.”
Work efficiently during office hours and leave on
time. Give the required time to your family,
friends & have proper rest.
Value has a value only if its value is valued
