protective equipment
(PPE)?
Personal proctective eqiument (PPE) is any device or
material created to protect the wearer or users from
injury or contamination.
The hazards addressed by protective equipment can
range from infectious diseases to arc flash, from
bloodborne pathogens to contact with hot surfaces,
fluids or heavy metals.
It’s important to note that PPE doesn’t just protect
workers — it protects people in the surrounding area as
well.
PPE is a critical part of any worker’s toolkit because it
helps them do their job safely and effectively without
worrying about getting hurt or making mistakes due to
being distracted by their own safety concerns.

an apparatus worn by employees to keep them from
physical impact, fire, or chemicals and shows the latest way
of defense. Although the removal of hazard is the first
precedence, it has been guessed that human fault is a
contributing feature in 84% to 94% of industrial damage
cases and one of the most widespread defects is the
neglect to wear suitable PPE.
According to OSHA, the proper use of PPE can prevent
37.6% of occupational injuries and diseases. 12%–14% of
occupational injuries resulting in total disability are caused
by employees not wearing appropriate PPE.

6. Where and when we
should use PPE?
There are two types of PPE: Class I and Class II. Class I
PPE includes items such as hard hats and safety shoes.
Class II PPE includes items such as gloves and eye
protection.
PPE must always be used when working with
chemicals or other substances which could cause
harm if they come into contact with human skin, eyes
or lungs. This type of equipment is usually required for
cleaning processes within factories where equipment
is cleaned after use with chemicals like steam or
solvents.
In some cases, workers may also need to wear
protective clothing (such as overalls) when
handling hazardous materials or chemicals in
order to prevent any spillages from causing harm
or damage to their clothes.
Insulating boots and gloves are also essential for
ensuring electrical and high voltage safety, and
can protect the wearer should an electrical shock
from equipment or machinery occur.
