2.  Generally, there is consensus on the types of
impacts that need to be considered for a
proposed intervention i.e.
 (social, cultural, demographic, economic, social-
psychological, and often political impacts):
 SIA experts;
 Should focus on the more significant impacts,
 Should use appropriate measures and information,

6.  Imagine an infrastructure project intervention in a
certain community of your own choice and;
Exercise 1
 Tasks to do:
1. Discuss the results of the project which would
take SIA into consideration.
2. Classify these results into certain dimensions
3. Identify what more things should be considered in
a failed project to make it successful.

7.  Jinja highway is the artery that links two very crucial
parts of the country – the capital (Kampala) with the
Industrial city (Jinja).The traffic congestion that occurs
regularly to enter into the highway due to
overwhelming pressure of vehicles has been a major
concern for Government of Uganda (GoU).
 GoU therefore plans to construct an EXPRESSWAY
(The Southern By-pass from Kampala to Jinja) to reduce the loss
of time by providing adequate space for the vehicles
to move on the highway.
