The Customer: Isfahan Airport, Iran
Isfahan Airport is an international airport serving the city of Isfahan in Iran. The airport has currently
one terminal which handles both domestic and international flights. With the recent emergence of Isfahan
as both an economic hub and a touristic destination, the airport has seen the number of flights and
passengers increase exponentially. In fact, the airport recorded more than 2,250,000 millions in 2015,
with more than 600,000 of those coming from international flights. Currently, the airport is being used by
more than 40 international flight carriers as well as some of the worlds’ leading cargo carriers.
The Need: A Wireless Network to Support Guests’ Needs as well as Daily
Operations
In line with the emergence of Isfahan Airport as a regional hub, there was a need to revamp the
airport in order to be able to welcome the increasing number of tourists. Similarly, there was a need to
improve the services and amenities for the carriers who use the airport.. At the top of these requirements
was wireless as management needed to provide employees and international carriers with the backhaul
for their operations as well as passengers with the option to access internet throughout the airport.
To do that, the proposed network solution needed to fulfill these requirements:

2.  All access points and controllers needed to be monitored and managed through a
centralized system
 The management software needed to provide simple yet effective reporting tools to ensure
that the network is stable at all times
 There was a need for the new equipment to seamlessly integrate with the already existing
telecom infrastructure.
 The new access points would need to be quickly installed as to not disturb the flow of
operations at the airport.
The Solution: Neutron EWS310AP 11n Indoor Manager Access Point:
With the help of Asiatech, Isfahan Airport implemented a comprehensive solution that offers
differentiated wireless internet services to international and domestic passengers, staff, and visiting
guests.
After a thorough study, site survey and coordination with the Airport IT staff, the decision taken was
to purchase 70 units of Neutron EWS 11n Indoor Managed Access points and 5 EGS7228 to act as
controllers. With ezMaster, the deployment of the access points was very efficient as the configuration of
the IT network needed minimal external assistance. All access points were mounted on the ceiiling in

3. order to ensure maximum coverage.
Results: a Stable Wireless Network with Elegant Equipment:
All the switches and access points that were
deployed were centrally managed through
ezMaster Network Management Software allowing
for a central point of administration and a platform
to monitor the whole network for up to 10,000
concurrent users. In addition, it also provided the IT
team with graphical and precise reports including
topology views, heat maps, wireless coverage
display and Rogue AP Detection.
In terms of the access points, the EWS310 is an 11n Managed access Point 2x2 Dual Band
designed for long range transmission which made it the ideal choice for such a large surface. In addition,
it comes with up to 29dBm transmit power ensuring a strong and long range throughout the airport
premises as well as essential features in such a dense environment including band steering and fast
roaming. Last but not least, its ceiling mount design allows it to blend with the interior decoration resulting
in minimum disruption to the overall décor.
