okay?
S: Yes ma’am!
Slide 5: Classroom rules

our 5 classroom rules: The first one is to
listen when the teacher is talking.: Second,
follow the directions carefully: Third, raise
your hand if you want to say something.:
Fourth, respect yourself and other people: And
the last one is, be safe always.
Slide 6: We are now in our 4th
quarter week
5 with the topic Types conflict and their non-
violent ways.
Discover how a conflict can be resolved in
non-violent ways. Is that clear?
S: Yes, Ma’am
Slide 8: So, the most essential learning
competencies is (Everybody please read)
Discover the conflicts presented in literary
selections and the need to resolve those
conflicts in non-violent
Ways.
Slide 7: Now let’s us proceed to our
objectives. So, at the end of the lesson you
are expected to Discover the different
conflicts in the text; Identify the type of
conflict in the given statement, and discover
how a conflict can be resolved in non-violent
ways
Alright, I want you to gets your thumbs up
stick and activity sheet in your green basket
under your chair. Please listen carefully,
okay? Every time I ask questions and you got
the correct answer, I will give you star. You’re
going to put it to the space provided in your
thumbs up stick and later on I will the prize to
most stars who have collected okay? Is that
clear? Any questions?
Slide 9: As we begin, I want you to say,
English is fun. Say it with me, “English is fun”
Good Job! Okay Class, Today I have a
challenge for you Are you ready for our
exciting lesson for today?
S: Yes, Ma’am
So, am I:
Slide 10: Let’s us have a recap first about our
previous lesson. Anyone from the group who
wants to share? Yes
S: About Make simple inferences about
thoughts and feelings expressed in the text
listened to
Precisely! Take your seat
Okay, very good! It seems that you interacted
well with your previous lesson and I hope
you’ll do the same today
Slide 11: ACTIVITY TIME!
Slide 12: Learning task 1; Direction: Take a
look at the pictures below and identify the
problem detected in each picture.
For number 1. Now class, look at this picture,
(Confused about which direction to take)
What does the character try to show? Or what
can you say about him?
S: He is confused about which direction to
take.
Yes! Precisely! You have 1 star The boy is
quite confused
about which direction he is going to take. He
needs to choose between those ways so he
has to make a decision.
Slide 13: Next, how about this one? (Parents
arguing)
S: The boy is struggling with how he will
stop his parents from arguing.
Yes! Very good You have 1 star the child is
confused and struggling with how he will
stop his parents from arguing or fighting.
Slide 14: And, how about this one? What
have you notice about the picture?
S: The area is flooded
Absolutely! You have 1 star The area is
flooded and the
civilians badly need help. Good thing, the
rescuers are there to help them.
Slide 15: Okay, so after seeing those 3
pictures, let’s
have some guessing game. You need to guess
these words and/or phrases that are
particularly associated with the pictures I
have shown a while back.
1. One word. Starts with the letter P,
ends with the letter M and consists of
7 letters.
Who wants to answer? Just raise your hand if
you want to answer.
PROBLEM
Very good! You have 1 star
2. One word. Starts with the letter S,
ends with the letter E, and consists of
8 letters.
STRUGGLE
Very good! You have 1 star
3. A two-word phrase. Starts with O and
F, ends with G and S. First word
consists of 8 letters, and the second
word consists of 6.
OPPOSING FORCES
Very good! You have 1 star
4. One word. Starts with T and ends with
N with 7 letters.
TENSION
Very good! You have 1 star
Slide 16: Now, using these 3 words and 1
phrase, can you sum them up to come up with
only one word?
Yes! Very good! It’s CONFLICT and that
will be our lesson for today
Slide 17: So, what do we mean by
CONFLICT?
Yes. Conflict is one of the elements of a
story, is a STRUGGLE between two
OPPOSING FORCES.
When we say struggle, it is a forceful effort
to reach an objective. And when we say
opposing forces, it means, contradicting or
fighting.
Slide 18: Conflict is an important element in
the study
of stories, novels, plays, movies, etc. And it
has two categories namely INTERNAL and
EXTERNAL CONFLICT.
Later on, I will discuss the two categories of
Conflict but now you’re going to answer the
activity first. Is that clear?
Slide 19: So, let’s proceed to the learning
task 2. I already discuss what is conflict,
right?
Now Class you’re going to find the main
conflict or the problem first in the given text
and you’re going to think or to find a possible
solution to Manuelita struggles. Write your
answer in the graphic organizer. Is that clear?
Class I already discuss about the types of
graphic organizer last last meeting, right?
Again, class what type of graphic organizer is
this?
S: Web graphic organizer
Very good!
Any question? Just raise your hand if you
have question. Okay? I will give you 10
minutes to do the activity and later on we will
answer it. Timer starts now.
Slide 20: Okay lets us now answer so what is
the conflict or the in the text? Anyone
S: Manuelita was often teased in school for
being heavy.
Very good!
Okay let’s proceed to the solution kindly give
me a possible solution for Manuelita
problem?
S: I will tell the teacher about the bullying so
that the students will stop to bully her.
Excellent!
Another solution?
S: I will tell Manuelita to ignore them and
start loving herself more
Very good!
Next for the last solution
S: I will tell to her to eat healthy foods and to
do exercises to gain her confidence.
Very good!
Slide 21: So now let’s proceed to the
categories of Conflict let’s begin to Internal
conflict.
Internal conflict is when a character struggle
with their own opposing desires or beliefs. It
happens within them, and it drives their
development as a character.
External conflict sets a character against
something or someone beyond their control.
External forces stands in the way of a
character’s motivations and create a tension
as the character tries to reach their goals.
What are the two categories of conflict again?
Yes. Very good
(Mag susulat sa blackboard)
Take note class that when we say internal, the
conflict is happening inside the body and if
external, the conflict is outside the body.
For example, in this picture that I have shown
awhile back (parent arguing) since the
character is in conflict with the other
character, this fall on EXTERNAL
CONFLICT
And in here, (picture of the undecided boy)
since the character is in conflict with himself,
this fall on INTERNAL CONFLICT
Do you understand class? Do you have any
question?
Slide 22: I will play a video as an example of
Internal and external conflict.
So, the scene here in the movie lion king this
is an example of external conflict because
character fighting about something.
Next in the movie Mulan this is an example
of Internal conflict because as the lyrics said
“Now I see, that if I were truly to be myself
I would break my family's heart Who is that
girl I see Staring straight back at me”
meaning she is battling with her own self
decision.
Slide 23: lets proceed to the learning task 3
Identify the conflict show in each illustration.
If it is an external conflict, write “E” on the
space provided if it is an Internal conflict
write “I”
Again class, when we say internal, the
conflict is happening inside the body and if
external, the conflict is outside the body.
I will give you 1 minute to do that okay?
Times up! Let’s us now answer
For number 1 what is the answer?
S: I
Very good
How about number2?
S: E
Excellent!
For number 3?
S: E
Absolutely!
For number 4?
Very good! Its I
For the last number?
S: E
Precisely! Its E
Slide 24: Okay now let’s proceed to the six
types of conflict
1. Character vs. self, in which a
character faces an internal struggle.
Ex. Your friend offered an ice cream
and an apple yet you have to choose
only one among the two. Considering
that an apple is healthier because you
can gain vitamin and mineral from it,
yet, since the weather is hot, so you
also want to be refreshed by eating ice
cream. So, the conflict between
yourself is there. Your own thought is
opposing within you.
2. Character vs. character, in which two
(or more) characters are in conflict.
This is a common type of conflict and
may be depicted as a straight-forward
fist-fight or if the character’s wants
and needs are in odd with another’s.
In here, the character is opposing with
another character.
3. Character vs. nature, in which the
conflict is rooted in a natural
phenomenon. This can mean the
weather, wilderness, or natural
disasters.
4. Character vs. supernatural, in which a
character faces supernatural forces.
This can be against gods, ghosts, or
monster.
5. Character vs. society, in which
conflict comes from an unjust social
climate.
6. Character vs. technology, in which
the conflict is rooted in science. It is
when a character is facing a machines
or robots and must prevail against the
character.
So, that are the 6 types of Literary Conflicts.
Who can enumerate it all?
Slide 30: Now let’s proceed to the learning
task 4: Discover the problem in the story,
then identify the type of conflict
Let’s answer. What is the answer in number
1? Very good its character vs self
Next? Very good its character vs nature
Last one? very good its character vs character
Slide 31: Now let’s proceed to the Learning
Task 5: I want you to Watch the video
carefully and answer the guide questions. Is
that clear?
Copy first the guide question and later on
you’re going to answer it.
Slide 32: Play the video
Guide questions:
1. What is the message of the video?
2. What do you think is the message is
important to you as a student?
3. How will you solve the problem if you
were the same situation?
Now let’s answer:
1. Stop bullying
2. Don’t become a bully
3. Apologize if you hurt someone or tell
the teacher about the bullying
Very good!
Slide 33: Okay now let’s proceed to
resolving conflict. I will play a video and I
want you to watch and listen carefully.
So, class what’s song or video all about?
S: how to deal with the conflict or how to
resolve the conflict
Very good!
Slide 34: Now you will examine how to solve
conflicts in non-violent ways. Whether it’s
with your parents or siblings, you can do the
following to stop a conflict from getting
worse.
1. First, you need to calm down. Deep breaths
can be a good start.
2. Second, listen to each other when
discussing about the issue or problem.
3. Third, you need to take responsibility for
your actions. Consider what you would have
done differently if you could go back in time.
4. Fourth, think of the solutions that are
acceptable for both/everyone.
5. Fifth, choose the solution together which
you think will be the most effective.
6. Lastly, accept when you realized you are
wrong, forgive if you received an apology, or
thank the person for solving the problem with
you.
Now, you have recognized that conflict is an
inevitable part of life.
As a reader, you will be able to deepen your
connection with the
meaning of a story or character and discover
possible solutions to
deal with conflicts.
Slide 35: Now let’s proceed to the Learning
Task 6: Think of the quotation “There’s
always rainbow after the rain” and create an
illustration on your paper to show how
colorful life is despite the problem we
encountered. Your output will be graded
according to the rubrics provided.
I will give you 15 minutes to do the activity.
Slide 36: For your assessment I want you to
answer this. Directions: Look at some
examples of conflicts in Column A and match
them with the appropriate type of conflict in
Column B. Write the letter of the best answer.
I will give you 3 minutes to answer it okay?
Slide 37: For your REFLECTION:
Directions: Review the lessons above, then
write your reflection in your notebook by
finishing up the unfinished statements below
IN JESUS NAME AMEN! THANK YOU,
LORD,

External forces stands in the way of a character’s motivations and create a tension as the character tries to reach their goals. What are the two categories of conflict again? Yes. Very good (Mag susulat sa blackboard) Take note class that when we say internal, the conflict is happening inside the body and if external, the conflict is outside the body. • 6. since the character is in conflict with himself, this fall on INTERNAL CONFLICT Do you understand class? Do you have any question? Slide 22: I will play a video as an example of Internal and external conflict. So, the scene here in the movie lion king this is an example of external conflict because character fighting about something. Next in the movie Mulan this is an example of Internal conflict because as the lyrics said “Now I see, that if I were truly to be myself I would break my family's heart Who is that girl I see Staring straight back at me” meaning she is battling with her own self decision. Slide 23: lets proceed to the learning task 3 Identify the conflict show in each illustration. Your friend offered an ice cream and an apple yet you have to choose only one among the two. Considering that an apple is healthier because you can gain vitamin and mineral from it, yet, since the weather is hot, so you also want to be refreshed by eating ice cream. So, the conflict between yourself is there. Your own thought is opposing within you. 2. Character vs. character, in which two (or more) characters are in conflict. This is a common type of conflict and may be depicted as a straight-forward fist-fight or if the character’s wants and needs are in odd with another’s. In here, the character is opposing with another character.
  • 7. 3. Character vs. nature, in which the conflict is rooted in a natural phenomenon. This can mean the weather, wilderness, or natural disasters. 4. Character vs. supernatural, in which a character faces supernatural forces. This can be against gods, ghosts, or monster. 5. Character vs. society, in which conflict comes from an unjust social climate. 6. Character vs. technology, in which the conflict is rooted in science. It is when a character is facing a machines or robots and must prevail against the character. So, that are the 6 types of Literary Conflicts. Who can enumerate it all?
