IFEZ took its first solid step toward
becoming a business hub of Northeast Asia in 2003
In 2003, Incheon was designated Korea’s first Free Economic Zone (FEZ) to respond to intense economic
competition in Northeast Asia and to develop new momentum for growth.
With the aim of establishing the Business Hub of Northeast Asia, IFEZ has been designed to incorporate business,
product distribution, high-tech industry, healthcare, education, leisure activities, and shopping into one.
