• The higher ranking of Soekarno-Hatta Airport in 2013 is a sign of the growing aviation industry in Indonesia.
• Traditionally, the domestic aviation industry grows twice as fast as the overall economy.
• In 2013, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport handled 62.1 million passengers, a 3.7 percent increase from
total passengers in the previous year (60 million).
• The airport is currently operating 1,200 flights per day for 44 foreign airlines and 19 domestic ones.
• As the airport has been operating at overcapacity in recent years, a large-scale renovation has
been underway.
• Terminals I and II are being renovated to enlarge passenger capacity to 18 and 19 million people
respectively (from nine million each now).
• Meanwhile, flight capacity is being expanded from 64 flights per hour in 2013 to 72 flights per
hour this year and to 85 flights per hour in 2015.
 Terminal area :  350,000 sqm
 Capacity :  25 mio. pax/annum
 Soft-operation : Sept 2014 (Modul-1)
• Because of limited land, we will make our new terminal the core of CGK Airport City.
• Terminal III will be able to handle 25 million passengers after renovations have finished in 2015
(from four million currently).
• Terminal will have world class retail and consumer services to improve the passenger
experience.
 KNO opens July 2013.
 Strategically located in North Sumatera
closer to Asian and Middle East markets.
 Expected to become the 2nd international
hub in western part of Indonesia (at least
50 mio pax by 2040).
 680 Ha for commercial development
inside fence (KNO Airport City)
 Over 10.000 Ha available outside the
fence for development (Aerotropolis)
 KNO is the first airport in Indonesia which
has a direct express rail to the city.

Kualanamu – A Natural Hub for Traffic Heading
West
• Medan is the fourth largest
city in Indonesia with a
population of about 2.3
million.
• It is the largest city outside
the island of Java, where
much of Indonesia’s wealth
is concentrated as well as
the cities of Jakarta and
Surabaya.
• Medan’s location makes it a
natural hub for traffic
heading west to South Asia,
the Middle East, Europe and
Africa.
• Medan could potentially
serve as the transit point for
passengers heading to these
regions from the rest of
Indonesia as well as
Malaysia and Singapore.

• Accessibility is key to successful airport and airport city development.
• Major investment made and transport accessibility.
• The presence of a toll road to support Kuala Namu airport is a vital step in helping
make the North Sumatra capital a regional commercial hub.
 Express rail services is provided by
PT Railink, a joint venture between
Angkasa Pura II and Indonesian
Railway.
 37 minutes from city to airport.
 An airport train line will carry passengers
to and from Medan at least 18 times a
day, with a capacity of 172 passengers.
• A new passenger terminal with highway and express rail connectivity to it.
• It has a 3,750 x 60 m runway capable of receiving wide body aircraft
including Airbus A380.
• It has space for 33 aircrafts and has a large parking bay for buses and
private cars.
A new KNO terminal as a placemaking, designed with a glass-transparent lift
topped with ethnic architecture style of North Sumatera, it is also a energy-
saving architecture.
• The architecture is representative the classic Batak style
• KNO – not only is it efficient and welcoming, it is intended to be a
showcase of Batak – North Sumatera culture. The top of the elevator
room emulates a traditional house of Bataknese.
• KNO style is so weirdly eclectic that you couldn't mistake it for any other
airport in the world.
• Some columns and walling is covered by the mural with an ulos pattern,
which is a specialty fabric of Batak in North Sumatera, called Ulos.
• At build out (around 2040 ) forecasted to grow to at least 50m pax and
300,000 tons of cargo.
• KNO is plotted to be a Regional Hub as South Korea's Incheon
International Airport sister airport.

business investment

Kasarda, PhD • The higher ranking of Soekarno-Hatta Airport in 2013 is a sign of the growing aviation industry in Indonesia. • Traditionally, the domestic aviation industry grows twice as fast as the overall economy. • In 2013, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport handled 62.1 million passengers, a 3.7 percent increase from total passengers in the previous year (60 million). • The airport is currently operating 1,200 flights per day for 44 foreign airlines and 19 domestic ones.
  • 9. • As the airport has been operating at overcapacity in recent years, a large-scale renovation has been underway. • Terminals I and II are being renovated to enlarge passenger capacity to 18 and 19 million people respectively (from nine million each now). • Meanwhile, flight capacity is being expanded from 64 flights per hour in 2013 to 72 flights per hour this year and to 85 flights per hour in 2015.
  • 10.  Terminal area :  350,000 sqm  Capacity :  25 mio. pax/annum  Soft-operation : Sept 2014 (Modul-1) • Because of limited land, we will make our new terminal the core of CGK Airport City. • Terminal III will be able to handle 25 million passengers after renovations have finished in 2015 (from four million currently). • Terminal will have world class retail and consumer services to improve the passenger experience.
  • 11.  KNO opens July 2013.  Strategically located in North Sumatera closer to Asian and Middle East markets.  Expected to become the 2nd international hub in western part of Indonesia (at least 50 mio pax by 2040).  680 Ha for commercial development inside fence (KNO Airport City)  Over 10.000 Ha available outside the fence for development (Aerotropolis)  KNO is the first airport in Indonesia which has a direct express rail to the city. Kuala Lumpur Airport Changi Airport Kualanamu Airport Sumatra Island
  • 12. Kualanamu – A Natural Hub for Traffic Heading West • Medan is the fourth largest city in Indonesia with a population of about 2.3 million. • It is the largest city outside the island of Java, where much of Indonesia’s wealth is concentrated as well as the cities of Jakarta and Surabaya. • Medan’s location makes it a natural hub for traffic heading west to South Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Africa. • Medan could potentially serve as the transit point for passengers heading to these regions from the rest of Indonesia as well as Malaysia and Singapore.
  • 13. BELAWA N LUBUK PAKAM Toll Road Artery Road Train Road MEDAN ± 40 Km • Accessibility is key to successful airport and airport city development. • Major investment made and transport accessibility. • The presence of a toll road to support Kuala Namu airport is a vital step in helping make the North Sumatra capital a regional commercial hub.
  • 14.  Express rail services is provided by PT Railink, a joint venture between Angkasa Pura II and Indonesian Railway.  37 minutes from city to airport.  An airport train line will carry passengers to and from Medan at least 18 times a day, with a capacity of 172 passengers.
  • 15. • A new passenger terminal with highway and express rail connectivity to it. • It has a 3,750 x 60 m runway capable of receiving wide body aircraft including Airbus A380. • It has space for 33 aircrafts and has a large parking bay for buses and private cars.
  • 16. A new KNO terminal as a placemaking, designed with a glass-transparent lift topped with ethnic architecture style of North Sumatera, it is also a energy- saving architecture.
  • 17. • The architecture is representative the classic Batak style • KNO – not only is it efficient and welcoming, it is intended to be a showcase of Batak – North Sumatera culture. The top of the elevator room emulates a traditional house of Bataknese.
  • 18. • KNO style is so weirdly eclectic that you couldn't mistake it for any other airport in the world. • Some columns and walling is covered by the mural with an ulos pattern, which is a specialty fabric of Batak in North Sumatera, called Ulos.
  • 19.
  • 20.
  • 21. • At build out (around 2040 ) forecasted to grow to at least 50m pax and 300,000 tons of cargo. • KNO is plotted to be a Regional Hub as South Korea's Incheon International Airport sister airport.
