The goal of the project is to construct an undersea railway tunnel between Finland and Estonia that serves both passenger and freight traffic and significantly reduces travel time between the countries. The travel time target between Helsinki Airport and Ülemiste airport in Estonia is approximately 20 minutes.

12. 4. Helsinki-Vantaa renovations & new routes
▪ In 2016 first part of expansion plan was opened with
3000 square metres and 12 departure gates for non-
schengen flights
▪ Expansion of 3500 square metres and 7 departure
gates were opened to terminal 1 in 2019
▪ 2020-2022 will open a new entrance and terminal 2
will expand to the old parking and public transport area
▪ Finavia is preparing to serve 30 million passengers per
year by 2030
▪ Finnair adds Busan, Korea as a new destination in
summer of 2020.
