4. What is Poverty
In the whole world, there is about 3 million people that is living their day with less than $3.50
for their everyday
The poorest 40% of the world population contributes to 5% of the world economic
income and the richest 20% of the world population contributes to three quarters of the
economic income or also calculated as 75% of the world income
Also, not only does the adult suffer, the children also have to suffer from the poverty as
their parents might not be able to provide them food and shelter, which the parents often
tends to abandon them
reports has shows that one percent of the money needed to buy weapons is equivalent
to the amount used by all the countries government to put the children into school. The
reason why the government has step up to put children into school is that they realise
how important it is to have more students that know and is able to read words according
to Unesco (United Nationals Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation)is reported
that one out of five adults does not know how to read and write words and one third of
the adults that is illiterate are women. This shows that last time many women were not
allowed to study. It could be because that many people thinks that women just need to
get married and give birth to children. And that it is the boys that is supposed to study
and learn words.
5. Poverty and its effects
Because of poverty, people have suffered a lot of problems such as starvation
and disease. Reports have shown that about 18 millions people die per year
or 50,000 people per year due to poverty-related causes. Most of the people
that die due to poverty-related causes are women and children. This could be
because of the fact that women and children tend to be the weaker humans.
So they might not be able to withstand the poverty related causes .
Homelessness is also one of causes of poverty and that a third of the worlds
population live in poverty due to homelessness.
6. What can be done to prevent it
Poverty can be reduced by doing events such as International Day which aims
for the eradication of poverty and also can be reduced through government
schemes and also through volunteering to Voluntary Welfare Organisations
such as Centre for Global Development, Child Poverty Action Groups and End
Poverty Now.
