2. The Causes Of Poverty
Poverty is a growing issue that affects most people in the world. Some blame the poor for their
situation and believe there is a way for them to get out of it. However, some are born into poor
families or areas and cannot control or change their predicament. The main causes of poverty are a
lack of education, natural disasters that impact country, and overpopulation. Many living in society
struggle with the issue of poverty. According to The Journal of Psychology, the poverty rate in the
United States in 2010 was 15.1%, which translates to about 46.2 million people (Tagler). Overseas
in the United Kingdom, many are also struggling and are living below the poverty line. The United
Kingdom has an issue with food poverty, as many people...show more content...
Education is a key factor in ensuring economic stability for all. An increase in education would
allow more people to find steady jobs and would help to decrease the poverty rate globally.Another
cause for poverty is natural disasters. The country of Haiti has experienced many natural disasters
that have impacted the overall economic standing of the country. These natural disasters strip the
people living in the country of their homes, food, clothing, and sometimes, family members. This
causes a large majority of the people to be homeless and without food, clothing, or shelter. Many
support groups from around the world aid in supporting these people affected by the natural
disaster, but the demand is extremely high and difficult to keep up with. This causes countries to
greatly decline in their overall economic standing and leaves many citizens well below the poverty
line. Another component that causes poverty among many nations is the issue of overpopulation.
Overpopulation is when a large amount of people are living in an area that can not support them
all. The area is too heavily populated, which can therefore cause many to beliving within the means
of poverty. Overpopulation can be caused by a decrease in the mortality rate, or an increase in
immigration. This causes too many people to live in an area with notenough resources to provide for
their needs. Overpopulation can result in extreme levels

3. Cause Of Poverty Essay
Millions of people in the U.S are slipping below the middle class and into the grip of poverty. More
than 45 million people are living in destitution in the U.S. That means more than 14% of the
population is making less than $2,400.00 a month. The Many people believe that there several
factors that cause poverty. However, there are really only three main causes of poverty; a poor
economy, a long history of drug use, and lack of education. The America that most people know is
deteriorating, along with the backbone of the economy. No one really knows who to blame for this
collapse in the economy. The Republicans blame the Democrats and vice versa. However this does
not really matter because as politicians stand idly by the trade deficit in...show more content...
If these children are able to read and write well and have developed math skills they will be
employed. A common argument for the lack of education in poor inner cities is that poor children
are more difficult to educate due to their lack of resources. However, The Rochester City District
spends almost twice the national average per student, but is the lowest performing school district in
America (Hickman). Therefore, proving that more money is not the solution. The solution is to
provide teachers that are specific to teaching a certain demographic. According to Sean Slade in 40
out of 50 states low income students comprise 40% of public schools. With that being said there
needs to be a revolution in the public education system. If children are going to break the cycle of
poverty they must be educated and pursue higher education. Improving the public school system will
take more money. To reduce the size of the population under the poverty threshold the education
system has to be more rigorous and efficient, which will requiring better teachers and more funds
from the state or federal government. Children coming from poor households must be educated on
the importance of education. Only a few adolescentes that come from poverty truly are able to defy
the circumstances they were raised. Education is extremely important for adolescents. Children must
be involved in extracurricular sports and clubs to teach them life skills

4. The Causes Of Poverty
Poverty is not having enough money to meet basic needs including food, clothing and shelter. There
is no one cause of poverty, it has many facets. Many social scientists and political analyst believe
that it is in part due to the large population as the larger the population the harder it is to eradicate
poverty as several people compete for basic needs and opportunities. Some argue that it can also be
attributed to lack of economic freedom or economic liberalization as they argue that extending
property rights protection to the poor is one of the most important poverty reduction strategies a
nation can implement. Another aspect of poverty, is the lack of strong governance and corruption.
Inefficient government discourages foreign investors from opening a business. For instance, in
Brazil it takes 86 days to get a business permit compared to 2 days in Canada. Moreover, corrupt
officials often pockets the aid and the money intended to help the poor through education and
hospitalization or by providing infrastructures needed to grow the economy.
We may try to ignore poverty if we are well–off, however we still pay the price of poverty. For
instance, it increases the cost on the health system, the justice system and other systems that provide
support to those living in poverty ultimately impacting the economy and taxpayers indirectly.
Additionally, poverty breeds other social injustices such as shorter life expectancy, infant mortality,
teenage birth, low literacy rate,

5. Causes Of Extreme Poverty
Extreme poverty is something that has been happening in this world for decades, if not for
centuries. It is the scarcity of materials such as money, food and water, and other necessities that
people need to live; in other words, it is the condition of being poor. It is heart retching to know that
there are so many poor people in this world. Extreme poverty has been happening mainly in African,
Asian, China, and Indian countries. Over a billion people live on under a dollar a day. People in
extreme poverty have to drink dirty water to survive because of the lack of money to have fresh
water. Approximately 11 million children die due to the lack of food and fresh water. It is
supposed to be the job of the wealthier to do what they can do to help. I have seen the less
wealthy people helping the poor than I have seen the poor helping the poor. I have also seen that
people tend to only help specific types of people and ignore the other types, which leads me to my
main points. I believe that there are several subjects that we have read in our literature and discussed
on the discussion board are lead causes of extreme poverty. The causes are things that the authors of
the literature from this semester would not approve, including discrimination, violence, and low
education (Roser and Ortiz–Ospina).
I have watched several videos on YouTube and Facebook about people doing social experiments.
The purpose of these social experiment videos for the video creators to act as if they are

Does poverty still exist in America, one of the richest countries in the world? Unbelievably, poverty
exists in overabundance. Not only in the inner cities but also in rural areas and areas considered
middle class. How are social institutions contributing to poverty and what can we do to alleviate
poverty in America? Has poverty contributed to crime? On the other hand, has crime contributed to
poverty? Do poverty stricken people have the same rights and basic needs as people who are not
living in poverty? Can crime in poverty stricken areas be eliminated if there is no poverty, can
poverty even be eliminated?
How does one of the richest countries in the world have...show more content...
The American ideal of worth as quoted by Lauer, et al, 2008: "....For the poor, the right to dignity as
human beings is violated by the contradiction between the American ideal of the worth of every
individual and the pattern of interaction between the poor and the nonpoor.....They tend to be
subjected to contempt and rejection and blamed for their plight..." (Lauer, R.H., et al. 2008. Pg 168)
If the impoverished are treated with contempt as stated above, it would make sense they turn to
crime. The very people that should be helping and being supportive are the very ones who are
helping to perpetuate their plight. Police who see the poor automatically will categorize the
people in poor areas as criminals. If a poor person, who was not dressed well, maybe clean, but
shabby would be treated with suspicion if they were to go into a store in a less poor area. This type
of treatment does not help the emotional aspect of the impoverished. Thus, when they turn to crime,
they have a feeling of acceptance, especially from gangs. (Lauer, R.H., et al. 2008)
If government agencies actually worked together to help end poverty instead of helping corporations
and private sectors to gain a profit, think how much less poverty this country would have. If
affordable education were offered to the youths and adults in poverty–stricken areas, maybe these
people would have a chance to achieve the American dream of happiness and have their dignity. If
programs that were

7. Causes Of Poverty In Ethiopia
.1 Statement of the problem
Poverty has been existing in the world for a very long time, and at different extents, it remains to
be a worldwide social evil still now in the 21st century. More than two thirds of the 1.4 billion people
who live in extreme poverty reside in rural areas of the developing countries (FAO, 2012).
In Ethiopia, according to 2015/16 survey, also mentioned that out of the total population 21.4 million
of them are poor. Out of this rural poverty accounts for a significant proportion. Poverty in rural
areas is characterize by largely due to the depletion of livelihood assets. This makes them isolated
from basic social service, extension services, markets etc. In addition, the poor in rural area is also
vulnerable to natural disasters such as drought or flooding. These factors contributing for gradual
exclusion of the poor from society.
This days developing countries regularly conduct household surveys on income, consumption, health,
demographics, labour force, household enterprise etc ... for different purposes. The information with
respect to poverty and wellbeing has improved dramatically and used for different poverty
eradication programme(Ravallion 2016).
The problem is not to measuring the magnitude of poverty at nationally or regionally. But analysis of
poverty which conducted at country(regional) level could not give full picture through all
localities(areas) due to the nature and complexity of poverty and also the diverse
