My Favorite Neighborhood
The Mid–Wilshire area is the most diverse neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles, with the highest dissimilarity index of 0.755. This is clearly
seen since the population is made up of 33.6% White, 22.7% African American, 19.8% Asian, and 19.9% Latino. Although my neighborhood is
located right next to Koreatown, it is quite secluded from the city and the park is in the middle of a residential area. I decided to choose this area
and more specifically this park because it's where I grew up and spent most of my childhood. This neighborhood is my favorite in all of Los Angeles
and I can see myself living here once I finish school.
It's 11:00am on November 12, 2017, 70 degrees and sunny, a typical beautiful day in Los Angeles. I decided to begin my journey from the corner of
8th street and Windsor boulevard, the block I grew up on. I walked south on Windsor so I can pass by the park and eventually make a lap around the
park. While on Windsor, I passed by my apartment building, and I could smell the authentic Korean BBQ cuisine coming from there. There are a fair
number of Koreans living on my street, and according to Massey, "[They're] found in a [comparatively] small number of metropolitan areas." To be
more specific, the Korean community is very close, a great example is that there are over hundreds of Korean BBQ restaurants in Koreatown, multiple
on the same block and they're all making great business.
As I pass my parent's home, I have a short encounter with my neighbor, an elder Korean lady who was walking her dog, she had a small
Pomeranian, the cutest thing on the block. I just asked her how she was doing and kept on walking. As I get closer to the park, I noticed the various
trees scattered around the block, mainly palm trees, the famous tree of Los Angeles. I enjoy walking around in my neighborhood because there's tons
of shade and it is always quiet. The only time it's loud is when there are movie and TV sets, and there are quite a few of those throughout the year.
I finally arrive to the park, the first thing I notice are a group of 6 Latino kids playing soccer on a small portion of the grass, there isn't much space
since they've added huge rocks in random spots to prevent kids from playing

Descriptive Essay About My Neighborhood
My neighborhood has been many places in the short 15 years of my life. Many consider their neighborhood to include where they went to school, but
no matter where my house happened to be, I went to school in Alameda. My three person family consisting of myself, my mother and my aunt, are
closer to poor than rich, so while we could never afford to live on the little island, some of my other family members could so I used their address and
attended their schools. I went to school, made friends, and found a community in Alameda, but my neighborhood is in Oakland and as such, my
community is there too. The two have little in common as the: people, atmosphere, and average income couldn't be more different. Consequently it
is for the same reasons that I am treated differently in the two places that I call home. Every neighborhood and street in Oakland could be identical,
as seen looking through outside eyes. The streets are unfriendly, enveloped in poverty, filled with people of color, and loud to an average person
driving by. Looking from the inside, however, is different because when I'm not across the Fruitvale Bridge in school, I'm here, experiencing the
livelihood and culture of my town, my default neighborhood. I'm biracial, though for most on the island it's easier to maintain that I just Black, and I
have lived with my white mother and aunt in Oakland since I was born. If I walk down Idlewood, a street parallel to Oakland's infamous MacArthur
Boulevard, I am average;

My Neighborhood-Personal Narrative Essay
My Neighborhood–Personal Narrative I would wake up Saturday morning to birds chirping. I would get up, get dressed and go outside. The
children in my neighborhood would come to my backyard, and we would play 'til our parents called us in. I remember the trees being huge, and the
days so long. I didn't really know many of my neighbors. I had a handful of friends who lived in the same building, and that was it. The neighborhood
itself was pretty bad. Sometimes I would wake in the middle of the night to the sound of gunshots. After living around Central Park and Armitage for a
while I kind of expected the gunshots. In fact, my mother and I survived a drive by shooting. I am glad my mother restricted my interaction with the

Most kids just imitate the stupid antics they saw older kids perform. I have always been just me. I used to think I had a horrible life. I was poor,
and didn't have many physical belongings. It didn't help that my mother was nineteen. At that age she was ignorant of the things children need
when growing up. Now that I look back, I understand it wasn't her fault; she is a product of her neighborhood. And, like so many others, she did
not know about the affection children so deserve. Anyways, I wasn't too aware of my poverty. Nothing around me could possibly tell me I was
poor. In fact I can only recall one time I went hungry. The boys and girls around me definitely did not dress any different than I, and at such an
early age one doesn't really notice such things. I only saw the inside of two of my neighbors' houses. The fist was a polish home. The father
worked all the time, the mother cooked all the time, and the daughter played all the time. The girl was named Kathy. She was a pervert. In fact, she
taught me all about sex. My female cousin, Yaritza, and I would go to her house and play. I think my cousin was also a pervert, although I did not
pay much attention to her to notice. I remember on several occasions, Kathy would sit in such a way to give other people a nice view up her skirt. Her
mother would not allow her to wear pants. I, being the devilish little boy that I was, always took advantage of the opportunity and looked. It

Where you grow up decides what you are going to be for the rest of your life. To describe the neighborhood that I grew up in, a lot had to do with
the environment that was around us. I grew up with my brother who taught me a lot about how to behave around people and at school. Anyways
very early on in our childhood we became best friends with the neighbors down the street "the Johnson's". My good friend was Louie who is a year
younger than me and my brother George hung out with Riley who was a year older than him. I was better friends with Louie than George was
with Riley, our parents were also good friends, but I spent almost all my summer days, and most weekdays after school at their house. Me and
Louie played everything and did just about everything that kids did. We both had big imaginations and we both liked to adventure. We lived in a
very kid friendly neighborhood due to the park behind my house which was only separated by a forest. We built all sorts of forts and came up with
so many games around my pond which in total is the size about two football fields. My Dad and I make a rink every year out on my pond and both
of our family's play hockey so that is always fun and competitive. We slowly, as kids do, got more mature and our games became less of a made up
joke but more as a project around the neighborhood. Growing up in the type of neighborhood that I did really made it easy for me to be successful, I
never had anything in my neighborhood that could

My Neighborhood
At first glance most people wouldn 't describe my neighborhood as, " beautiful and appealing." In fact, most people probably wouldn 't even
describe my neighborhood as, "livable." Broken glass, bags of chips, cans of soda and wrinkle pieces of old newspaper litter the ground; making it
seem that the people who live here consider the ground their own personal dumpster. Several houses are boarded up; abandoned for such a long
time I don 't even know if people actually lived there in the first place. Graffiti is scrawled across the sides of these houses giving a somewhat
vibrant appearance to these otherwise gloomy homes. No one's yard gives the suggestion that it 's being maintain. The grass grows in sporadic
patches like spots on a Dalmatian. At night, nothing illuminates the deserted sidewalks as a result of the broken street lamps. This causes outsiders
of our neighborhood to be warily of taking shortcuts through it. These people who look at my neighborhood and see all those things are just simply
refusing to see the beauty within. They don 't know about the single father who works two jobs to send his three children to a Catholic school. They
don 't know about the little girl who goes around with her little, red wagon picking up pieces of trash. They don 't know about the former navy soldier
who makes it a point to say, "Hello" to anyone who crosses his path. They don 't know about the teenager boy who helps the elderly in the neighbor by
taking out their trash

Descriptive Essay About My Neighbour
My Neighborhood We always run around chasing each other playing pirates on her swingset like that is the ship and their is a giant squid on the
grass trying to eat us. We have lunch together during the summer and then run around chasing each other some more. Olivia pitsch is my neighbor
and we love playing with each other all day everyday. Olivia has short dark brown hair and loves being fancy and dressing up. She also likes playing
with me all the time. Olivia and me are really best friends we play A LOT of games when were together. Are favorite is explorers. Splish! Splash!
goes the water as we stomped by. We lived in a tree and made mud pies and caught fish, frogs, and even crayfish to keep as pets! When explorers
ended and we got to wet to continue it was to tiring also so we let go of all of our pets right where we got them from and started playing something
else. Once in awhile I can get my friend katelyn to come over and play with us. We would play tag and I would always be it. Eventually, the sun set
and we would always have to say goodnight to katelyn when she had to get home and eat supper. But olivia and my day was not over yet we start
making plans for what we're gonna do later that night. We said " That's good now let's go eat and get energy for tonight meet here at 8:30 no later."
We left our spot at the playset and went back to our homes and ate, ready for tonight. When 8:30 struck I would go outside to olivia's playset and wait
for her to show up.

My Neighborhood
There are various influences in everyone's lives while growing up. I believe the greatest of these influences is the neighborhood you grew up in. I
grew up in a quite large, welcoming neighborhood. While living in this neighborhood, I was outgoing and remarkably talkative. Making friends
became second nature to me. Playing outdoors from sunrise to sundown playing sports or exploring the outdoors with my friends became a daily
routine for me. I was outgoing, talkative, and active. I believe this is the result of the neighborhood I grew up in. Growing up in a massive
neighborhood magnificent. My neighborhood was flooded with kids around my age to hang out with. Occupying the edge of this neighborhood was
a large park where the neighborhood's kids and I would spend most of our time eliminating their boredom. When this park would not satisfy our
needs, there were vast amounts of open fields available for our amusement. In this field, the neighborhood kids and I had various uses such as playing
soccer, football, or even racing. This neighborhood ensured I would never be bored. In this neighborhood, I developed into an outgoing, very talkative
kid. In this neighborhood, I felt as if I became a pure extrovert. I believe that growing up in this neighborhood became an immense influence on my
personality. Experts say neighborhoods influence various characteristics of developing children and teens. According to Jeanne Brooks–Gunn professor
of child development at Teachers College et

Neighborhood Advantages And Disadvantages
Neighborhood features to check out if you are starting a family.
Buying a house in a beautiful neighbourhood can be a great thing, with well–manicured lawns and upscale people as your neighbours. But if you are
starting a family, you might need to consider some other factors before settling for a particular area. Children come with many challenges, and the
environment makes a significant impact on the type of adults they will become in later years. You will want to consider factors such as schools, the
crime rate and other essentials needed to make a family whole. Here are some of the essentials you need to cover to make life comfortable for you and
your children.

And this is dangerous for children who love to play outside the house. When choosing a home, pick one on a cul–de–sac or horse–shoe shaped street. A
street that becomes a highway when kids are out playing is not a family friendly street.
Sidewalks
Sidewalks
Sidewalks are an important feature in a neighbourhood if you are raising kids. The sidewalk can be used to stroll your baby around and can be used
to teach the kids how to ride bicycles or rollerskates safely. While you can carry oot these activites on the main road, it can be dangerous.
Parks or playgrounds
Parks and playgrounds serve as the melting pot of the neighbourhood, and many families socialise and get to know each other from meeting at the park
or playground. Before choosing an area, make sure it has a park or playground where kids can have fun and develop friendships. As kids become
friends, so do their parents.
An ideal neighbourhood for raising kids should be safe, have good schools, and support a thriving community that your kids can relate to. With this
features in a neighbourhood, your family is undoubtedly going to have a good time growing up

My Neighborhood
When I tell other students from New York City that I live in Bensonhurst, they often tell me they have never heard of it. Often, I have never heard of
the neighborhood they live in, even though we all live in the same city. I think we all live in and interact in our respective bubbles, and besides the
periods we spend at work or school, we tend to keep ourselves exclusive to people outside of them. There is nothing wrong with being selective with
who you interact with, but those self–isolating behaviors encourage ignorance, especially during periods of rapid change in the neighborhood.
My neighborhood is actually very aesthetically pleasing. The name of my neighborhood, Bensonhurst, is actually shortened from
"Bensonhurst–by–the–Sea," which is what a developer named the resort neighborhood in order to sell more beachfront property. The aforementioned
sea is the Atlantic Ocean, though the sandy "bay" almost every avenue in the neighborhood has in its street name (e.g. Bay Parkway) has been paved
over to make roads and sidewalks (Frishberg). Still, there are remnants of its coastal–retreat past; there are benches, trees, walkways, and parks right
near the ocean. There are also playgrounds by every elementary school, and a city park or green space if there are no elementary schools right nearby.
Backyards, privately–owned plots of nature, also play an important role in my community. Most families in my neighborhood have backyards, front
yards, or both, and place value in

Descriptive Essay On My Neighborhood
My neighborhood is unlike any other neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley. I truly feel like I am at home and connected with the people in my
community. Being in a different neighborhood when visiting my friend's home or a family member's, causes a disconnect within myself. I do not feel
the same friendly atmosphere, outside my home I see houses on the same street, but no community. I comprehensibly feel displaced because it is it not
an area I value. The surroundings of a different neighborhood is not significant to me. Despite my unfamiliarity, my observations I notice the difference
between my community and my friends or family member's. In other neighborhoods, neighbors lack to know the basics of one another, something

Courage has been beneficial because, I am not shy or afraid to meet new people and socialize. I gained confidence within myself because I do not feel
awkward in social situations. Furthermore, my neighborhood has shaped me into a charismatic person; it is helpful when encountering social
relationships outside of my surroundings.
Aside from the personal lessons, I have been influenced to be festive. During most celebrated holiday such as: Fourth of July, Halloween, and Christmas
, my neighborhood embraces their excitement with beautiful decorations. According to the article Social Cohesiveness, Territoriality, and Holiday
Decorations by Barbara Brown and Carol Werner, observations on holiday decorations were done on a whole block during Halloween and Christmas;
the analyses indicated that attitudes and behaviors combined to reflect degrees of neighborhood attachment, and neighborhood ties were stronger. In a
sense, it makes me believe my neighbors unite to beautify our neighborhood streets while sharing common traditions, such as a Christmas tree or the
birth of Jesus arrangement. Holidays are my favorite time of the year, because I love to see the streets of my home filled with jolly spirit. Around
Christmas, I drive block by block to admire the lovely decorations. The sound of celebration and the smell of festive meals fill the atmosphere.
Supermarkets are crowed than ever, parking lots, and traffic is so congested, but I feel satisfied seeing my neighborhood

Introduction
I conducted my field experience at Interactive Neighborhood for Kids (INK) museum and observed peer interactions with various forms of play and
how this influences the socioemotional development of the child as well as the management of the class. Different teachers had varying approaches to
managing their classes at their time at INK. Both preventative and responsive measures were taken by teachers to reduce the incidence of inappropriate
behavior. Overall the experience provided insight on potential areas for necessary attention when working towards the holistic development of the
student.
Field Experience Site I conducted my field experience at the INK Museum. The museum is a non–profit organization, that is essentially set up to be an
imagination playground. It has several exhibits that resemble actual parts of a neighborhood. In particular, it resembles the Gainesville area with
exhibits like the J&J super market and the post office.
I observed several field trip groups from schools from various counties between the ages of four and six. The demographics of the students varied
since they came from different counties. Parents along with teachers were present to watch the children, and it was apparent the children observed
were in the third stage of their psychosocial development, initiative versus guilt. At this stage, children ages three to six are taking an exploratory
initiative or are hesitant to explore due to parental discipline (Slavin,2012). I

Where I live is one of the greatest neighborhoods in the city to live in; however it does have its draw backs. Importantly it has nearly everything a

The Mexican tile roofs jump out at your eyes, until the gorgeous iron gates of other estates snatch your attention. I can at times be overwhelmed with
the feast before my eyes. My favorite structure by far is the towering ruins of the old sugar plantation. The words ruins, sugar, and plantation alone are
enough to conjure up the most fascinating stories within ones imagination. I can see the bones of an age past; still standing before me to mourn,
and dream about. I live in a grouping of villas where a restaurant and pool facilities are being constructed. I smell fresh sawn mahogany as the
carpenters make bars, counters, and doors. I hear stone masons chipping at tiles, and the scraping sounds as they pull out the mortar to lay them.
Sometimes in the morning I pull on running sneakers and jog down to Kmart to grab some household items. Then I might bop over to AT&T to pay
my cell phone escaping the crowds and long lines that form later in the day. The bank tellers are also so much nicer in the morning before rude
customers have agitated and frustrated them. On Sundays my family and I take in concerts and shows for free. We sit on the lawn that adorns thehill
behind our house which overlooks the Center for Performing Arts. Whether it's paying bills, shopping for pleasure, or enjoying a cultural affair the
convenience of it all is another reason I love my neighborhood. Never the less our royal neighborhood does have some less desirable elements. Most

Introduction Play is one of the best parts of being young. Children have the wonderful ability to get lost in their own world for hours. Play is a very
important part of childhood for a variety of reasons. It allows for many growing opportunities and sparks creativeness. Since the passing of the No
Child Left Behind Act in 2001 there had been a decline in the amount of free play in young grades. Fortunately, with more research, the link between
play and learning is helping return it the schools (Nicholson, Bauer, & Woolley, 2016). The main goals on Interactive Neighborhood for Kids is to
foster this idea of learning through play. They open many prospects for teachers, parents and the community to make the connection between the two.

exhibit helps foster learning in the areas of role play, social sills, math, science, language arts and history. This chart is a useful tool of how each
exhibit could help be a transference of skills for teachers. While the children are busy exploring and creating a world of imagination, they are actually
learning skills that will be of much use later in life and developing higher cognitive functions. They are enhancing abilities, moving through social
stages and learning new transferrable skills (Bodrova & Leong, 2015). The teacher could find a way to connect the fun they had while at play with a
concept they are learning in the classroom. The play would be a memorable concept that they learned first–hand, even if they do not realize it during the

My neighborhood that I live in is LA, specifically South LA. The neighborhood is quite dangerous every once in awhile you hear gunshots at night,
police sirens, and the ambulance sirens there are always something in the neighborhood. The people of my neighborhood mainly consists of African

In between the busy streets of 35th avenue and 43rd lies my silent and kind neighborhood. Where everyone is nice to each other and not lousy or
mean. About two months ago, my mother bought our first home. My house looks like a duplex because there are two entrances, one on the left and
right and it also has two drive ways. Turning into my neighborhood you right away see that it is a dead end street, and has very few houses one each
side of the road. There is not really anything that grabs one's attention where I live, except a 2017 mustang that is parked next door, or how many stray
cats there live here.. Other than that a true attention catcher is our neighbors well kept yard. They have bushes along the driveway shaped into a
beautiful square. And colorful flowers in their neat front yard. Their grass is also much greener than anyone else's. You can tell they care about their
yard a lot because they have a landscaper come every week. There are also two schools that are across the street, a charter high school that is to the
left of an elementary school. What I do like about my neighborhood is that the streets are very wide, wider than usual which gives everyone an
advantage. It was so convenient that we lived right across the street from an elementary school. I thought to myself "I have younger siblings that could
go there!" But they really couldn't – the school is only from 1st–5th grade and my sisters were just in 6th and 7th grade. In the mornings are usually

How Does Your Community Shape My Neighborhood
My neighborhood has greatly shaped my family and I in many ways. Going to church, sports, and school as well as aiding the community has
shaped the person I am today. At church and school, I have cooperated with others in order to provide excellent community service for those less
fortunate in the area, while of my own accord, I volunteer in the surrounding area such as Union City. For example, in Union City, I gave out turkeys
for Thanksgiving to many who did not have the means to purchase one, while at school, I aided in the operation of the local food bank, and read to
the elderly at the local nursing home. During the holiday season, I work with the Union City ROTC in managing donations to "Toys for Tots." There

How My Neighborhood Shape My Family Essay
How Did My Neighborhood Shape My Family? My family consists of multiple backgrounds and nationalities. I come from a multi–racial household;
my mother, Tonia Dawson, is Jamaican and my father, Joshua Brown, is Dominican/ Puerto–Rican. After, my parents' split I spent the majority of my
childhood strictly growing up with my maternal relatives. On my maternal side, there is an abundance of family members: my great–grandmother has
10 children, my great– aunt also has 10 children and most of her kids have 3 children each. Most of my family that resides in the United States is
heavily concentrated in the Bronx, New York. I decided to focus on how assimilation in society, aspect of family, poverty, education, and gender has
shaped my family.
It is within the last twenty to thirty years that most of my family emigrated to the United States of America from the famous island known as
Jamaica. Many immigrants came to the United States of America for a "better quality of living", but in reality it isn't as easy as it sounds. One does
not simply show up in a foreign country and have everything they desire. A lot of my family members worked early mornings and late nights just to
have the proper funds to provide for themselves. In a lot of Caribbean families, where there are multiple children, the parents immigrate to a new place
and leave their children behind in their original country. This enables the parents to establish a home in their new country and acquire a good amount of

My Favorite Neighborhood

  • 1. My Favorite Neighborhood The Mid–Wilshire area is the most diverse neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles, with the highest dissimilarity index of 0.755. This is clearly seen since the population is made up of 33.6% White, 22.7% African American, 19.8% Asian, and 19.9% Latino. Although my neighborhood is located right next to Koreatown, it is quite secluded from the city and the park is in the middle of a residential area. I decided to choose this area and more specifically this park because it's where I grew up and spent most of my childhood. This neighborhood is my favorite in all of Los Angeles and I can see myself living here once I finish school. It's 11:00am on November 12, 2017, 70 degrees and sunny, a typical beautiful day in Los Angeles. I decided to begin my journey from the corner of 8th street and Windsor boulevard, the block I grew up on. I walked south on Windsor so I can pass by the park and eventually make a lap around the park. While on Windsor, I passed by my apartment building, and I could smell the authentic Korean BBQ cuisine coming from there. There are a fair number of Koreans living on my street, and according to Massey, "[They're] found in a [comparatively] small number of metropolitan areas." To be more specific, the Korean community is very close, a great example is that there are over hundreds of Korean BBQ restaurants in Koreatown, multiple on the same block and they're all making great business. As I pass my parent's home, I have a short encounter with my neighbor, an elder Korean lady who was walking her dog, she had a small Pomeranian, the cutest thing on the block. I just asked her how she was doing and kept on walking. As I get closer to the park, I noticed the various trees scattered around the block, mainly palm trees, the famous tree of Los Angeles. I enjoy walking around in my neighborhood because there's tons of shade and it is always quiet. The only time it's loud is when there are movie and TV sets, and there are quite a few of those throughout the year. I finally arrive to the park, the first thing I notice are a group of 6 Latino kids playing soccer on a small portion of the grass, there isn't much space since they've added huge rocks in random spots to prevent kids from playing Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Descriptive Essay About My Neighborhood My neighborhood has been many places in the short 15 years of my life. Many consider their neighborhood to include where they went to school, but no matter where my house happened to be, I went to school in Alameda. My three person family consisting of myself, my mother and my aunt, are closer to poor than rich, so while we could never afford to live on the little island, some of my other family members could so I used their address and attended their schools. I went to school, made friends, and found a community in Alameda, but my neighborhood is in Oakland and as such, my community is there too. The two have little in common as the: people, atmosphere, and average income couldn't be more different. Consequently it is for the same reasons that I am treated differently in the two places that I call home. Every neighborhood and street in Oakland could be identical, as seen looking through outside eyes. The streets are unfriendly, enveloped in poverty, filled with people of color, and loud to an average person driving by. Looking from the inside, however, is different because when I'm not across the Fruitvale Bridge in school, I'm here, experiencing the livelihood and culture of my town, my default neighborhood. I'm biracial, though for most on the island it's easier to maintain that I just Black, and I have lived with my white mother and aunt in Oakland since I was born. If I walk down Idlewood, a street parallel to Oakland's infamous MacArthur Boulevard, I am average; Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Neighborhood-Personal Narrative Essay My Neighborhood–Personal Narrative I would wake up Saturday morning to birds chirping. I would get up, get dressed and go outside. The children in my neighborhood would come to my backyard, and we would play 'til our parents called us in. I remember the trees being huge, and the days so long. I didn't really know many of my neighbors. I had a handful of friends who lived in the same building, and that was it. The neighborhood itself was pretty bad. Sometimes I would wake in the middle of the night to the sound of gunshots. After living around Central Park and Armitage for a while I kind of expected the gunshots. In fact, my mother and I survived a drive by shooting. I am glad my mother restricted my interaction with the outside...show more content... Most kids just imitate the stupid antics they saw older kids perform. I have always been just me. I used to think I had a horrible life. I was poor, and didn't have many physical belongings. It didn't help that my mother was nineteen. At that age she was ignorant of the things children need when growing up. Now that I look back, I understand it wasn't her fault; she is a product of her neighborhood. And, like so many others, she did not know about the affection children so deserve. Anyways, I wasn't too aware of my poverty. Nothing around me could possibly tell me I was poor. In fact I can only recall one time I went hungry. The boys and girls around me definitely did not dress any different than I, and at such an early age one doesn't really notice such things. I only saw the inside of two of my neighbors' houses. The fist was a polish home. The father worked all the time, the mother cooked all the time, and the daughter played all the time. The girl was named Kathy. She was a pervert. In fact, she taught me all about sex. My female cousin, Yaritza, and I would go to her house and play. I think my cousin was also a pervert, although I did not pay much attention to her to notice. I remember on several occasions, Kathy would sit in such a way to give other people a nice view up her skirt. Her mother would not allow her to wear pants. I, being the devilish little boy that I was, always took advantage of the opportunity and looked. It Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. My Neighborhood Essay Where you grow up decides what you are going to be for the rest of your life. To describe the neighborhood that I grew up in, a lot had to do with the environment that was around us. I grew up with my brother who taught me a lot about how to behave around people and at school. Anyways very early on in our childhood we became best friends with the neighbors down the street "the Johnson's". My good friend was Louie who is a year younger than me and my brother George hung out with Riley who was a year older than him. I was better friends with Louie than George was with Riley, our parents were also good friends, but I spent almost all my summer days, and most weekdays after school at their house. Me and Louie played everything and did just about everything that kids did. We both had big imaginations and we both liked to adventure. We lived in a very kid friendly neighborhood due to the park behind my house which was only separated by a forest. We built all sorts of forts and came up with so many games around my pond which in total is the size about two football fields. My Dad and I make a rink every year out on my pond and both of our family's play hockey so that is always fun and competitive. We slowly, as kids do, got more mature and our games became less of a made up joke but more as a project around the neighborhood. Growing up in the type of neighborhood that I did really made it easy for me to be successful, I never had anything in my neighborhood that could Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Neighborhood At first glance most people wouldn 't describe my neighborhood as, " beautiful and appealing." In fact, most people probably wouldn 't even describe my neighborhood as, "livable." Broken glass, bags of chips, cans of soda and wrinkle pieces of old newspaper litter the ground; making it seem that the people who live here consider the ground their own personal dumpster. Several houses are boarded up; abandoned for such a long time I don 't even know if people actually lived there in the first place. Graffiti is scrawled across the sides of these houses giving a somewhat vibrant appearance to these otherwise gloomy homes. No one's yard gives the suggestion that it 's being maintain. The grass grows in sporadic patches like spots on a Dalmatian. At night, nothing illuminates the deserted sidewalks as a result of the broken street lamps. This causes outsiders of our neighborhood to be warily of taking shortcuts through it. These people who look at my neighborhood and see all those things are just simply refusing to see the beauty within. They don 't know about the single father who works two jobs to send his three children to a Catholic school. They don 't know about the little girl who goes around with her little, red wagon picking up pieces of trash. They don 't know about the former navy soldier who makes it a point to say, "Hello" to anyone who crosses his path. They don 't know about the teenager boy who helps the elderly in the neighbor by taking out their trash Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Descriptive Essay About My Neighbour My Neighborhood We always run around chasing each other playing pirates on her swingset like that is the ship and their is a giant squid on the grass trying to eat us. We have lunch together during the summer and then run around chasing each other some more. Olivia pitsch is my neighbor and we love playing with each other all day everyday. Olivia has short dark brown hair and loves being fancy and dressing up. She also likes playing with me all the time. Olivia and me are really best friends we play A LOT of games when were together. Are favorite is explorers. Splish! Splash! goes the water as we stomped by. We lived in a tree and made mud pies and caught fish, frogs, and even crayfish to keep as pets! When explorers ended and we got to wet to continue it was to tiring also so we let go of all of our pets right where we got them from and started playing something else. Once in awhile I can get my friend katelyn to come over and play with us. We would play tag and I would always be it. Eventually, the sun set and we would always have to say goodnight to katelyn when she had to get home and eat supper. But olivia and my day was not over yet we start making plans for what we're gonna do later that night. We said " That's good now let's go eat and get energy for tonight meet here at 8:30 no later." We left our spot at the playset and went back to our homes and ate, ready for tonight. When 8:30 struck I would go outside to olivia's playset and wait for her to show up. • 7. My Neighborhood There are various influences in everyone's lives while growing up. I believe the greatest of these influences is the neighborhood you grew up in. I grew up in a quite large, welcoming neighborhood. While living in this neighborhood, I was outgoing and remarkably talkative. Making friends became second nature to me. Playing outdoors from sunrise to sundown playing sports or exploring the outdoors with my friends became a daily routine for me. I was outgoing, talkative, and active. I believe this is the result of the neighborhood I grew up in. Growing up in a massive neighborhood magnificent. My neighborhood was flooded with kids around my age to hang out with. Occupying the edge of this neighborhood was a large park where the neighborhood's kids and I would spend most of our time eliminating their boredom. When this park would not satisfy our needs, there were vast amounts of open fields available for our amusement. In this field, the neighborhood kids and I had various uses such as playing soccer, football, or even racing. This neighborhood ensured I would never be bored. In this neighborhood, I developed into an outgoing, very talkative kid. In this neighborhood, I felt as if I became a pure extrovert. I believe that growing up in this neighborhood became an immense influence on my personality. Experts say neighborhoods influence various characteristics of developing children and teens. • 8. Neighborhood Advantages And Disadvantages Neighborhood features to check out if you are starting a family. Buying a house in a beautiful neighbourhood can be a great thing, with well–manicured lawns and upscale people as your neighbours. But if you are starting a family, you might need to consider some other factors before settling for a particular area. Children come with many challenges, and the environment makes a significant impact on the type of adults they will become in later years. You will want to consider factors such as schools, the crime rate and other essentials needed to make a family whole. Here are some of the essentials you need to cover to make life comfortable for you and your children. When choosing a home, pick one on a cul–de–sac or horse–shoe shaped street. A street that becomes a highway when kids are out playing is not a family friendly street. Sidewalks Sidewalks Sidewalks are an important feature in a neighbourhood if you are raising kids. The sidewalk can be used to stroll your baby around and can be used to teach the kids how to ride bicycles or rollerskates safely. While you can carry oot these activites on the main road, it can be dangerous. Parks or playgrounds Parks and playgrounds serve as the melting pot of the neighbourhood, and many families socialise and get to know each other from meeting at the park or playground. Before choosing an area, make sure it has a park or playground where kids can have fun and develop friendships. As kids become friends, so do their parents. An ideal neighbourhood for raising kids should be safe, have good schools, and support a thriving community that your kids can relate to. With this features in a neighbourhood, your family is undoubtedly going to have a good time growing up Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. My Neighborhood When I tell other students from New York City that I live in Bensonhurst, they often tell me they have never heard of it. Often, I have never heard of the neighborhood they live in, even though we all live in the same city. I think we all live in and interact in our respective bubbles, and besides the periods we spend at work or school, we tend to keep ourselves exclusive to people outside of them. There is nothing wrong with being selective with who you interact with, but those self–isolating behaviors encourage ignorance, especially during periods of rapid change in the neighborhood. My neighborhood is actually very aesthetically pleasing. The name of my neighborhood, Bensonhurst, is actually shortened from "Bensonhurst–by–the–Sea," which is what a developer named the resort neighborhood in order to sell more beachfront property. The aforementioned sea is the Atlantic Ocean, though the sandy "bay" almost every avenue in the neighborhood has in its street name (e.g. Bay Parkway) has been paved over to make roads and sidewalks (Frishberg). Still, there are remnants of its coastal–retreat past; there are benches, trees, walkways, and parks right near the ocean. There are also playgrounds by every elementary school, and a city park or green space if there are no elementary schools right nearby. Backyards, privately–owned plots of nature, also play an important role in my community. Most families in my neighborhood have backyards, front yards, or both, and place value in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Descriptive Essay On My Neighborhood My neighborhood is unlike any other neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley. I truly feel like I am at home and connected with the people in my community. Being in a different neighborhood when visiting my friend's home or a family member's, causes a disconnect within myself. I do not feel the same friendly atmosphere, outside my home I see houses on the same street, but no community. I comprehensibly feel displaced because it is it not an area I value. The surroundings of a different neighborhood is not significant to me. Despite my unfamiliarity, my observations I notice the difference between my community and my friends or family member's. In other neighborhoods, neighbors lack to know the basics of one another, something simple such...show more content... Courage has been beneficial because, I am not shy or afraid to meet new people and socialize. I gained confidence within myself because I do not feel awkward in social situations. Furthermore, my neighborhood has shaped me into a charismatic person; it is helpful when encountering social relationships outside of my surroundings. Aside from the personal lessons, I have been influenced to be festive. During most celebrated holiday such as: Fourth of July, Halloween, and Christmas , my neighborhood embraces their excitement with beautiful decorations. According to the article Social Cohesiveness, Territoriality, and Holiday Decorations by Barbara Brown and Carol Werner, observations on holiday decorations were done on a whole block during Halloween and Christmas; the analyses indicated that attitudes and behaviors combined to reflect degrees of neighborhood attachment, and neighborhood ties were stronger. In a sense, it makes me believe my neighbors unite to beautify our neighborhood streets while sharing common traditions, such as a Christmas tree or the birth of Jesus arrangement. Holidays are my favorite time of the year, because I love to see the streets of my home filled with jolly spirit. Around Christmas, I drive block by block to admire the lovely decorations. The sound of celebration and the smell of festive meals fill the atmosphere. Supermarkets are crowed than ever, parking lots, and traffic is so congested, but I feel satisfied seeing my neighborhood Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Introduction I conducted my field experience at Interactive Neighborhood for Kids (INK) museum and observed peer interactions with various forms of play and how this influences the socioemotional development of the child as well as the management of the class. Different teachers had varying approaches to managing their classes at their time at INK. Both preventative and responsive measures were taken by teachers to reduce the incidence of inappropriate behavior. Overall the experience provided insight on potential areas for necessary attention when working towards the holistic development of the student. Field Experience Site I conducted my field experience at the INK Museum. The museum is a non–profit organization, that is essentially set up to be an imagination playground. It has several exhibits that resemble actual parts of a neighborhood. In particular, it resembles the Gainesville area with exhibits like the J&J super market and the post office. I observed several field trip groups from schools from various counties between the ages of four and six. The demographics of the students varied since they came from different counties. Parents along with teachers were present to watch the children, and it was apparent the children observed were in the third stage of their psychosocial development, initiative versus guilt. At this stage, children ages three to six are taking an exploratory initiative or are hesitant to explore due to parental discipline (Slavin,2012). I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. My Neighborhood Essay Where I live is one of the greatest neighborhoods in the city to live in; however it does have its draw backs. Importantly it has nearly everything a resident might want, beautiful picturesque scenery, proximity to shopping, and many of the cultural centers. Nevertheless the roads can be some of the most congested in town, and the streets are not safe to walk late at night. Fortunately, I wake every morning to the most beautiful sun lit house. I sit on my porch sipping coffee, while I drink in an atmosphere that steals my breath away. Rolling hills lay before me that undulate until they crash into golden purple mountains. My favorite structure by far is the towering ruins of the old sugar plantation. The words ruins, sugar, and plantation alone are enough to conjure up the most fascinating stories within ones imagination. I can see the bones of an age past; still standing before me to mourn, and dream about. I live in a grouping of villas where a restaurant and pool facilities are being constructed. I smell fresh sawn mahogany as the carpenters make bars, counters, and doors. I hear stone masons chipping at tiles, and the scraping sounds as they pull out the mortar to lay them. Sometimes in the morning I pull on running sneakers and jog down to Kmart to grab some household items. Then I might bop over to AT&T to pay my cell phone escaping the crowds and long lines that form later in the day. The bank tellers are also so much nicer in the morning before rude customers have agitated and frustrated them. On Sundays my family and I take in concerts and shows for free. We sit on the lawn that adorns thehill behind our house which overlooks the Center for Performing Arts. Whether it's paying bills, shopping for pleasure, or enjoying a cultural affair the convenience of it all is another reason I love my neighborhood. • 14. Interactive Neighborhood Introduction Play is one of the best parts of being young. Children have the wonderful ability to get lost in their own world for hours. Play is a very important part of childhood for a variety of reasons. It allows for many growing opportunities and sparks creativeness. Since the passing of the No Child Left Behind Act in 2001 there had been a decline in the amount of free play in young grades. Fortunately, with more research, the link between play and learning is helping return it the schools (Nicholson, Bauer, & Woolley, 2016). During this time, I would get to walk around and observe the children play while I helped the staff. Each exhibit has a poster that explains how the exhibit helps foster learning in the areas of role play, social sills, math, science, language arts and history. This chart is a useful tool of how each exhibit could help be a transference of skills for teachers. While the children are busy exploring and creating a world of imagination, they are actually learning skills that will be of much use later in life and developing higher cognitive functions. They are enhancing abilities, moving through social stages and learning new transferrable skills (Bodrova & Leong, 2015). The teacher could find a way to connect the fun they had while at play with a concept they are learning in the classroom. The play would be a memorable concept that they learned first–hand, even if they do not realize it during the process (Slavin, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Descriptive Essay About My Neighborhood My neighborhood that I live in is LA, specifically South LA. The neighborhood is quite dangerous every once in awhile you hear gunshots at night, police sirens, and the ambulance sirens there are always something in the neighborhood. The people of my neighborhood mainly consists of African Americans, Mexicans who maybe documented or undocumented, and whites who are low income. The houses around my place are mainly apartments and houses that look torn down, but it's not all bad the neighborhood has convenience stores, laundromat place, church, elementary school, and one small restaurant. One thing that I do love about my neighborhood is definitely the palm trees lined up with the houses it reminds beverly hill famous palm trees in the streets except when you see my neighborhood it looks all scary like a dead ghost town. Another thing about the people is they're mainly older people around older 30s to 40s except with heavy attitude. They're always stealing things, having fights, and have parties every weekend with such loud noise that why I get uncomfortable when my dorm gets quiet because I never experience quiet moment for a period in time. My neighbor has quite the history especially with the cops and firefighters I remember there was this one time where a little boy died by a car accident and he was someone I knew at school because I used to hang out with him. The people who knew him pay respects for the parents, but nothing more than that because to them he just Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Descriptive Essay About My Neighborhood In between the busy streets of 35th avenue and 43rd lies my silent and kind neighborhood. Where everyone is nice to each other and not lousy or mean. About two months ago, my mother bought our first home. My house looks like a duplex because there are two entrances, one on the left and right and it also has two drive ways. Turning into my neighborhood you right away see that it is a dead end street, and has very few houses one each side of the road. There is not really anything that grabs one's attention where I live, except a 2017 mustang that is parked next door, or how many stray cats there live here.. Other than that a true attention catcher is our neighbors well kept yard. They have bushes along the driveway shaped into a beautiful square. And colorful flowers in their neat front yard. Their grass is also much greener than anyone else's. You can tell they care about their yard a lot because they have a landscaper come every week. There are also two schools that are across the street, a charter high school that is to the left of an elementary school. What I do like about my neighborhood is that the streets are very wide, wider than usual which gives everyone an advantage. It was so convenient that we lived right across the street from an elementary school. I thought to myself "I have younger siblings that could go there!" But they really couldn't – the school is only from 1st–5th grade and my sisters were just in 6th and 7th grade. In the mornings are usually when I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Section 8 Neighborhood Living in a Section 8 neighborhood my whole life, I've learned a lot about struggles that most kids at my school haven't even come to see. In my neighborhood, everybody has something working against them and statistically speaking, most of the kids here will never go to college, will never have a stable career, and will end up in prison, if not dead. I know myself growing up without a father and my mom working day and night to support the family, I often didn't get the support I needed growing up and a lot of the kids here are in the same position. We've have had to take care of ourselves and fill the position our parents can't. Assuming this is my last meal before death and that hopefully when I die, I die of old age, I would want something Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. How Does Your Community Shape My Neighborhood My neighborhood has greatly shaped my family and I in many ways. Going to church, sports, and school as well as aiding the community has shaped the person I am today. At church and school, I have cooperated with others in order to provide excellent community service for those less fortunate in the area, while of my own accord, I volunteer in the surrounding area such as Union City. For example, in Union City, I gave out turkeys for Thanksgiving to many who did not have the means to purchase one, while at school, I aided in the operation of the local food bank, and read to the elderly at the local nursing home. During the holiday season, I work with the Union City ROTC in managing donations to "Toys for Tots." There is a certain warmth to aiding others, and once you start, it is a warmth that guides you through the vast amount of coldness out in the world. I fully intend to...show more content... We are very close and share everything, right down to the sneakers on our feet. We have a common goal as afamily– to help each other and make sure that we help others along the path of our familial journey. My mother is a single parent and goes to work before we go to school. As a result, I have established a routine with my brothers and neighbors to watch out for each other. We have a great neighborhood and are all friends. Working toward a common goal is what I strive for, and my family certainly does not stray far from this great motive. My mother's motto is flexibility, respect, and love– "the mix that makes it work," as she refers to it. She has taught me to be part of the bigger picture– to share and compromise in my home with my younger twin brothers, while doing the same for others in our neighborhood every day. My brothers play many sports, just as I do, and I have adjusted to the time it takes to do so. We have a routine and learn from each other, and as such, I have been shaped by both my family and neighborhood Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. How My Neighborhood Shape My Family Essay How Did My Neighborhood Shape My Family? My family consists of multiple backgrounds and nationalities. I come from a multi–racial household; my mother, Tonia Dawson, is Jamaican and my father, Joshua Brown, is Dominican/ Puerto–Rican. After, my parents' split I spent the majority of my childhood strictly growing up with my maternal relatives. On my maternal side, there is an abundance of family members: my great–grandmother has 10 children, my great– aunt also has 10 children and most of her kids have 3 children each. Most of my family that resides in the United States is heavily concentrated in the Bronx, New York. I decided to focus on how assimilation in society, aspect of family, poverty, education, and gender has shaped my family. It is within the last twenty to thirty years that most of my family emigrated to the United States of America from the famous island known as Jamaica. Many immigrants came to the United States of America for a "better quality of living", but in reality it isn't as easy as it sounds. One does not simply show up in a foreign country and have everything they desire. A lot of my family members worked early mornings and late nights just to have the proper funds to provide for themselves. In a lot of Caribbean families, where there are multiple children, the parents immigrate to a new place and leave their children behind in their original country. This enables the parents to establish a home in their new country and acquire a good amount of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
