Animal Abuse Essay
Animal Abuse
Animals are sometimes treated as friends but are also treated as enemies. We keep them as pets, but if it suits us, we slaughter them in their own
habitats and in slaughterhouses. If we could kill them in a quick and pain–free way, like a special injection, which is not harmful to us, it would be a lot
nicer to the animals being killed. However, the scenes in slaughterhouses are ones of bullying and torture. The people hurt the animals in the most
horrific ways possible, for example, slitting their throats while they are still alive and dropping them from great heights to break their legs and necks and
other bones. These are just two of the many ways of slaughter that are used today.

Angling might be the only exception to this because without angling, the rivers would be over populated with fish (who have a very small memory
span anyway). It could disrupt the food chain. Hunting wild animals and reptiles is not necessary. The food chain would be just fine if we stopped wild
animal hunting, for example, fox hunting, wild cat hunting, elephant hunting, crocodile hunting and whale hunting.
We should not kill animals for fur. Thousands of years ago, our ancestors wore animal skins and furs to keep warm and dry. Today we have man
made fibres to make such garments. We can also buy man made clothes that look and feel just like real fur, if not more comfortable. There is no need
for us to kill these poor innocent creatures for status symbols. It takes many more than five lynx's to make one small fur coat. It is disgusting. How
would you like it if some bigger stronger creature than yourself killed you for your hair or your bones so they can make clothes out of your hair and
food delicacies out of your bones? It should be made illegal.
We should also stop testing cosmetics on animals like rabbits and rodents. We need to test important medicines and drugs on animals because
otherwise, the effects on us could be very harmful. I say this because new drugs for epilepsy were tested on my uncle, without his consent, and now
he is mentally ill. He cannot walk very well. He cannot read or write very well. He has to live in a home for

Animal Abuse: An Incident Of Animal Cruelty
What would you do if you witnessed an incident of animal abuse? Most of you would probably do nothing. (Point through the audience). Every day in
the united states animals are beaten, neglected or forced to struggle for survival. They are left in unsanitary conditions with no food or water, and they
have little hope as they live out their days without the compassion, love and respect they deserve. Animal cruelty is more then what you may think,
animal cruelty consists of passive cruelty and active cruelty. Passive cruelty consists of omission, meaning abuse happens as a result of neglect or lack
of attention. Passive cruelty can lead to terrible pain, suffering and ultimately death. For example starvation, dehydration, untreated infections,
inadequate shelter, and failure for medical care. Active cruelty is more well known and quite frankly very un–comforting and disturbing. Active cruelty
is often referred to as "non–accidental injury (hand gesture quotations). This is when someone purposely inflicts harm towards an animal in order to

Circuses are exiting places to go when you're a kid and attending a circus is something every kid does at least once. Inside the circus tent it's all cotton
candy, colours and exotic animals in costumes that aren't part of your habitat but it's behind the curtains where the problem lies. Circuses are a
traumatizing experience for animals and it pains them physically and mentally. When the animal doesn't do something right they use whips and punish
them for not completing the trick correctly to train them out of fear. In the filing industry animals are used and sometimes killed so that the movie

Animal Cruelty Speech
Have you ever seen an animal get beaten? Did it make you sad and sick to your stomach? Well everyday around the world their is an animal being

them through so much pain. I believe it's time for a change we should protect and love our animals because it's wrong to harm another creature and

animal is a pet or a farm animal or wildlife the victim can suffer terribly don't despair though anyone can take steps against cruelty. I believe that

Pros And Cons Of Animal Abuse Essay
According to the ASPCA, "an animal is abused every sixty seconds". That's a lot of animals being abused for one country. There are government laws
but none that have controlled animal abuse till this day. If the government had stricter laws or a new law to over control abusers then maybe the
violence towards animals would stop. Should animal abuse be a felony?
Animal abuse should be a felony because it's a form of violence. Animal abuse is done by a person feeling unnoticed and want to control others.
The actions of an abuser is violent by the way they portray to the animal or person. The Humane Society states that "animal abuse comes in a range
of behaviors that are harmful to animals and are considered neglect and killing and intentional abuse is depriving an animal of food, water, shelter,
socialization and even veterinary care and during this the animal is being tortured, manipulated, or killed" (Humane Society). It effects the pet's
social, mental and physical state. An animal can feel just as the same emotions as a human can for example a human feels joyful because she got an
A on her grade card and a pet feels joyful for getting a treat. It damages their meaning of being a pet. They also distribute many emotions like love and
happiness. They also feel pain and suffering when abused or harmed. Abuse can destroy the bond of the pet and the owner has and overtime the pet
would become lost and aggressive towards the owner. Leaving the owner no choice, but euthanization.

Animal Cruelty and Abuse Animal abuse is said to be an under reported abuse stated by The Humane Society, it is also seen as a disturbing abuse.
The rate in which animal abuse is going is only making it terrifying. The statistics of animal abuse are rising more and more with each year that comes.
Although humans see it as something unfathomable, animal abuse occurs every day. Animal abuse is when physical pain, scarring, or death is brought
upon an animal for no reason or showing it neglect. As shown in a group of statistics by The Humane Society shows that most abuse cases occur in
dogs the most, commonly the pit bull. The Humane Society states that in 2001 abuse that occurred with...show more content...
But if humans would just take a little more precaution in the person and get to know the buyer then more than likely you will see their true identity
within that time and you can decide on wether you think it is a good or bad idea to sell your animal to that person.
There is a particular story told by a website called Animal Abuse and it tells a story of a pit bull named Oogy. The pit bull was one night thrown
out as bait for another pit bull as practice before its fight. As Oogy was left there to die cops raided the house and immediately took Oogy to the
animal hospital. As bad as the doctors wanted to save the poor dog it looked as if he was not going to make it through the surgery. The dog had
lost a lot of blood and had his whole ear bitten off and some of his jaw taken off. But somehow he did, he made it through surgery. As a young man
and his son came in with their 15 year old cat they saw the dog and instantly fell in love with the dog. They recalled it as if the dogs sent them a
million kisses in that moment. The family later took the dog in and loved it as their own and took very good care of it – enough care to where it even
learned to trust again, although it would have flashbacks. Once the father was kicking a stone off of their patio and as the dog saw the kicking motion
he rushed back in the house and sat in the corner with fear in his eyes until he was soothed. Another

Animal abuse is a big problem worldwide, many people do not realize all the problems and effects that come with it. In fact many people may not
realize that Animal abuse is even happening they don't know how many animals are starving to death or have deep wounds and dry dirty skin others
are burned to death and even thrown in the trash, and worst of all some people think that they can do anything to an animal and they won't feel pain.
The history of animals is a key to stop animal abuse so people realize what animals have been through and the history of animal abuse in general. The
saddest thing is that if children see people abusing animals when they are small then later they won't realize it's a bad thing. It's history, effects, and

Animal Abuse Of The PSA
introduction This PSA covers all aspects of animal abuse from neglect of care to deliberate acts of cruelty and includes suffering in the process of
factory farming and scientific research.
I have chosen animal abuse for my PSA topic because I love animals and would like to educate myself and others in hopes to finding a way to stop
the cruelty. In researching this topic, I was saddened with the discovery that while there are laws that protect animals and those violating these laws
may be prosecuted, there are so many cases that are never reported or taken seriously enough. The PSA includes the pernicious acts towards animals in
the everyday life of human beings. summary The main purpose of this PSA is to show the neglect of animals in many ways displaying depressing
pictures of agonizing situations inflicted upon many types of animals. The first picture is titled "Neglect," and shows a little puppy that looks as if it
has mange, but appears to be in good hands now. Depressing music plays in the background.

The PSA had one melancholy song that was a good background noise when watching the PSA. There were pictures that would change about every
second to different scenarios and different cruelties that happen to animals which made it seem not quite organized because you did not really get the
chance to feel the sadness of these shameful events that happen every day in the world. On top of the pictures of the abused animals, there are only
about one or two words listed on each picture not really depicting the cruelty or sadness of the situation. The PSA gave you sad music, painful
pictures, and only vague ideas of what was happening, but it wasn't organized well nor did it give you enough information about the animals in the
photos or actual facts about animal cruelty in

Animal Abuse History
Beginning with the first man and community numerous years ago, humankind has subsisted on agricultural bounties, as well as animal sources.
Animals were widely revered as gods and were considered divine figures throughout the countries of the world. Each indigenous community had
several specific species which they worshipped through ceremonies and rituals. The ceremonies varied widely in each community, but the respect
for the animal was a similar factor in all. The tribes can be separated into two groups: one who occasionally killed the animals, and the other who
only killed habitually. The communities who occasionally killed the animals used their killings as sacrifices to their particular god. They would
capture the animal and skin it as an offering. The skin of the animal was considered a memorial to the god and it was placed in a temple to be
preserved. Afterwards, the people would mourn the death of the animal and bury it as if it were a...show more content...
The people worshipped the animal, but sought to kill it as often as possible because the animal was more use to them dead than alive. They would
capture the young offspring of certain species and raise them for two or three years before killing them in a ceremony. During the rearing period,
the animal was treated with respect and tenderness by each household in the community. Some people felt as though the animals had feelings,
intellect, and souls, similar to the traits of humans. Others felt that killing an animal needed a motive, such as, revenge against a death caused by
that specie or destruction of property. Many tribes had repercussions for those who chose to kill unnecessarily. In order for the tribes to survive not
all animals could be spared; excuses were made and forgiveness was asked of each animal killed. Europeans fall into this category of habitual killers,
but they do not worship the animal as a god, only as a source of

Animal neglect or abuse is a crime and should be treated and punished as such, no one should get away with endangering or abusing an animal. While
thinking of animal abuse being a crime or felony people may have may questions such as, what is a crime? what exactly is animal abuse? or why
should I care about animal rights? Although there may be an array of different questions asked about this specific topic but animals should be treated

Animal Abuse Unfortunately today there are many cases of animal abuse happening around the world. Animal cruelty or animal abuse can be defined
as the infliction of suffering or harm upon animals for purposes other than self–defense. There are many different types of abuse such as using animals
for research, using animals for entertainment purposes, abandoning animals to shelters, and animal neglect. We need to raise awareness and find a
solution to these issues. Animals are suffering and we need to help them. Animal research Every year there are millions of animals killed for scientific

Sometimes these reasons can be the animal is an inconvenience to care for anymore, a sudden death of the animal's owner, or loss of a pet
friendly home. A shelter is a place that takes in animals that no one wants anymore. Some shelters are no kill and some shelters are not. No kill
shelters will try and help animals find a new home through an adoption. Kill shelters give a short amount of time for the owners to find their lost
pets. Pets are a part of a family, they are not property. We need to prevent abandonment through awareness. Things like foster programs can help a pet
temporarily until they can find a permanent home. This is cost effective and better for the animal. Animal Entertainment There are many types of
animals used for entertainment such as circuses, dog fighting, zoos, and rodeos. All of these types of entertainment are not natural for these animals
which is a form of abuse. Often times they are wild animals that don't belong in cages and are not able to do things that are in their instinct to do.
This is especially true about zoos and circuses. Animals are not able to roam free and instead kept in small cages. Even in optimal settings experts say
that it is difficult to provide for the needs of wild animals.(Lemonick) Children should learn to respect animals and not see them as entertainment.
People should only support animal free circuses and raise awareness how animals are abused for entertainment.

Acione, Frank R., and Phil Arkrow, editors. "Child Abuse,Domestic Violence, and Animal Abuse: Linking the Circles of Compassion for Prevention
and Intervention." Purdue University Press, 1999. The crux of this novel is the correlation between those who commit animal abuse crimes and what
happens later to their life. Acione and Arkrow dedicated an entire chapter of their publication to assess their opinion backed up of a listed compiled of
research. The piece of research that the authors chose to accentuate was the story of Luke Woodham. Woodham committed a terribly vile act of animal
abuse which resulted in the sixteen–year–old boy having to go to court. To officers the case had just seemed as a teenager blowing off some steam, but
it wasn't until Woodham was asked to speak about thecrime he had committed. I shall save you the disturbing details of his statements, but the
statement was along the lines of the sounds the animals made reminded the boy of a human. In the end, what those in the court learned stunned them.
Law enforcement thought they were dealing with a simple animals abuse case but now they realize that standing before them is one that could be
compared to criminals such as Bundy and Manson.

The home page itself provides no information or purpose pertaining to the organization. In my opinion, this is poorly structured because for those
people who are trying to get a general idea of the cruelties of animal use, they are provided with no quick facts or interesting information having to do

that are already supporters or members of PETA, not for those that are merely interested in learning about the unjust uses of animals. The design and
structure of the main website are not necessarily helpful to the curious, uninformed reader, but the website does share a number of related websites in a
simple manner. There is a link that plainly writes "Other PETA Sites."
It was through this link that I was able to find a variety of other source s relating to PETA's beliefs. One website, named "Cows are Cool" guides
readers through a variety of reasons why cows should not be killed, giving special attention to the making of leather (PETA Cows). Another site is

Animal Abuse And Animal Neglect
When one discusses the topic of animal abuse, normally domestics such as cats and dogs come to one's mind. However, farm animals and livestock
also suffer from animal abuse and neglect. In many rural places of southeast Ohio, cases of animal neglect go unseen or ignored. Cows, pigs, chickens,
and other stock animals do not receive proper food, water, and vet care. However, the community can change the lives of these animals for the better if
they implement change. Education and awareness need to be spread through the community and then through the action of reporting it to the proper
authorities, the animals will get a better life. How would one describe animal neglect? According to the Humane Society, "Animal neglect situations

Lastly, the consumers of the meat or products are affected by the animals if they were not in perfect health. On the topic of healthy animals, Laura
Childs, the author of The Joy of Keeping Farm Animals describes, "buying healthy animals, keeping their bedding clean, feeding quality hay, providing
clean water, and adhering to a veterinary–approved vaccination schedule" will lead to healthy animals and then to healthy meat and healthy people
(2010, p. 200). Imagine the quality of meat that would come from an animal that does receive one or more of these necessary components. Through
education and awareness, animal neglect can become a past memory for all farms. Stockmen, farmers, and everyone else are the cause of the neglect
found on farms. In their article that was published by the American Society of Animal Science, Stull and Holcomb explain, "owner ignorance,
economic hardship, and lack of responsibility were the highest ranked causes of neglect and cruelty cases" (2014, p. 2348). This meaning that some
farmers chose to ignore the problems their animals are experiencing. Some can just not afford to keep the proper care for their animals, "economic
hardship was ranked first for causes of neglect" (Hull and Holcomb, 2014, p. 2348). Intentional or not, there are no excuses for the abandonment of
animals and the community needs to act to stop it. Furthermore, how we as a society see farm animals is another

Animal cruelty is a nationwide problem rapidly growing in today's society. Animals are being beaten and starved every day and millions of helpless

Animals don't deserve to be tortured or harmed in any kind of way; they are poor and defenseless creatures. Many people who become animal owners
do so because they love animals and want to give them a forever home. Animal Cruelty is very upsetting and wrong. Animal rights laws apply to all

Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse
Why would anyone abuse an animal? Animal abuse is rather common, you could be doing it even if you don't think you are. There are many animals
that deal with abuse or neglect, about 1,423 animals a year. That's in the U.S. alone. Animals are living creatures, just like you, and they're not cheap.
Neglect is another version of abuse, and it can come in many forms. Neglect could be starving them, not giving them medical care, not paying attention
to them, etc, etc. Animals are just like humans, I mean, sure they can't make their own meals, and they can't drive a car, but that doesn't mean they have
fewer rights than you do. If an animal is abused or neglected the animal will be taken and the owner should be charged. If someone abuses an...show

This is the simplest thing to understand. You must take care of your pets, money is only an object. Your pet is family, your pet will be with you
through everything if you treat them correctly. Again, pets aren't cheap. Food for a dog or cat can cost $5.00– $30.00 alone. A pet is like a child. They
depend on you to keep them alive and healthy.
There are many animals who deal with abuse everyday, and that is not okay. If an animal is neglected or abused the pet will be taken away and the
caretaker will be charged $1,500. Animals are very loyal, such as dogs, dogs are one of the most loyal animals you can own. When abused, they
don't know where they went wrong. They only know that you are mad at them. Animals, such as humans, shouldn't be abused or neglected. Most
animals who are abused or neglected are usually abused unintentionally, but the second most are abused on purpose. The people who abuse animals
on purpose sometimes deal with mental illnesses, were abused as children, or have a hard time dealing with stress or anger. Animals are just like
humans who have been abused. They are usually skittish and shy. People tend to see animals differently than humans, but they are the same in my
eyes. For example, if I locked you in my basement, starved, and beat you, I'd be charged with attempted murder and kidnapping. Pets have the same
rights as you to live freely, but people don't see it. You are able to live on your own and take care of yourself, but they

Essay on The Effects of Animal Abuse
Animal abuse tends to take the backseat to human abuse but it can often be the first signs of an abusive personality and of possible physical and
emotional abuse of a person. Abusing animals is can be the first sign of a potential serial killer. Organizations both big, such as PETA and the Humane
Society, and small, such as The Pegasus Project, work to rescue, rehabilitate, and ideally rehome abused and neglected animals. Many domestic

The manner that the kids abuse the animals says quite a bit about the murders they commit later in life. Both types of killings tend to follow the
same pattern and trend. Other kinds of animal abuse can be linked to different forms of mental health issues of varying forms and severities as well.
Having animals fight for sport and entertainment is one kind of abuse that differs from the private killing and torture that most serial killers use.
Animal sport fighting is illegal in all 50 states, and with good reason. Having animals fight each other to the death is one of the cruelest things
someone could do. It's a painful and slow death for both animals. If one animal happens to be lucky enough to survive the fight that merely means they
get to go fight another fight and so on until they eventually do die. Animal hoarding is another variation of abuse that shows an issue with either
loneliness or a degree of Obsessive–Compulsive Disorder in which the person believes they have to "save" every animal they see and that they're the
only ones who can care for the pet in the manner it requires; when in reality that mindset is actually harming all the pets in the situation and the person
themselves. The living conditions in a setting like that are harmful for all involved. (Pet–Abuse.com) When animals are removed from harmful
situations they're placed in either public or private owned animal shelters. The Humane Society has the most animal shelters nationwide. They take

Animal Abuse And Human Abuse
It seems like nowadays nearly everyone in society knows something about the abuse. If not, abuse is a somatic or physiological form of harm. It also
seems that more and more people are getting concerned about animal abuse. Promptly because of that, there are more and more foundations to help
rescue animals and nurture them back to health. However, animals around the globe are still not getting rescued and are still getting abused. In order
to be fully acquainted about animal abuse, the common types of animal abuse, and the causes of animal abuse must all be explored, as well as the
ways to prohibit the occurrence of animal abuse. Animals have rights, those in which are being violated. Animals can not defend themselves, so the

"Making the public aware of animal suffering is not enough. By turning words into actions, real change is possible and anima suffering can be
measurably reduced."
The ARI proclaimed animal rights on October 15th 1978 and was accepted by the United Nations (UN) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific
and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). This states the following:
Article 1: Every animal was born the same, so they have the same right to existence.
Article 2: a) Every animal has right to be respected.
b) Unless humans are animals too, they don't have the right to kill or explode any other animal species. Humans have the obligation to use their
knowledge to help animals.
c) Every animal has right to receive human care, protection and attention.
Article 3: Any animal will be submitted to cruelty acts. If instant death is needed, it should be without pain and as fast as possible.
Article 4:
a)Every animal that belongs to a wild specie has the right to live freely in

Animal Abuse Essay

  • 1. Animal Abuse Essay Animal Abuse Animals are sometimes treated as friends but are also treated as enemies. We keep them as pets, but if it suits us, we slaughter them in their own habitats and in slaughterhouses. If we could kill them in a quick and pain–free way, like a special injection, which is not harmful to us, it would be a lot nicer to the animals being killed. However, the scenes in slaughterhouses are ones of bullying and torture. The people hurt the animals in the most horrific ways possible, for example, slitting their throats while they are still alive and dropping them from great heights to break their legs and necks and other bones. These are just two of the many ways of slaughter that are used today. Meat is needed for a good...show more content... Angling might be the only exception to this because without angling, the rivers would be over populated with fish (who have a very small memory span anyway). It could disrupt the food chain. Hunting wild animals and reptiles is not necessary. The food chain would be just fine if we stopped wild animal hunting, for example, fox hunting, wild cat hunting, elephant hunting, crocodile hunting and whale hunting. We should not kill animals for fur. Thousands of years ago, our ancestors wore animal skins and furs to keep warm and dry. Today we have man made fibres to make such garments. We can also buy man made clothes that look and feel just like real fur, if not more comfortable. There is no need for us to kill these poor innocent creatures for status symbols. It takes many more than five lynx's to make one small fur coat. It is disgusting. How would you like it if some bigger stronger creature than yourself killed you for your hair or your bones so they can make clothes out of your hair and food delicacies out of your bones? It should be made illegal. We should also stop testing cosmetics on animals like rabbits and rodents. We need to test important medicines and drugs on animals because otherwise, the effects on us could be very harmful. I say this because new drugs for epilepsy were tested on my uncle, without his consent, and now he is mentally ill. He cannot walk very well. He cannot read or write very well. He has to live in a home for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Animal Abuse: An Incident Of Animal Cruelty What would you do if you witnessed an incident of animal abuse? Most of you would probably do nothing. (Point through the audience). Every day in the united states animals are beaten, neglected or forced to struggle for survival. They are left in unsanitary conditions with no food or water, and they have little hope as they live out their days without the compassion, love and respect they deserve. Animal cruelty is more then what you may think, animal cruelty consists of passive cruelty and active cruelty. Passive cruelty consists of omission, meaning abuse happens as a result of neglect or lack of attention. Passive cruelty can lead to terrible pain, suffering and ultimately death. For example starvation, dehydration, untreated infections, inadequate shelter, and failure for medical care. Active cruelty is more well known and quite frankly very un–comforting and disturbing. Active cruelty is often referred to as "non–accidental injury (hand gesture quotations). This is when someone purposely inflicts harm towards an animal in order to show that they are superior and in charge....show more content... Circuses are exiting places to go when you're a kid and attending a circus is something every kid does at least once. Inside the circus tent it's all cotton candy, colours and exotic animals in costumes that aren't part of your habitat but it's behind the curtains where the problem lies. Circuses are a traumatizing experience for animals and it pains them physically and mentally. When the animal doesn't do something right they use whips and punish them for not completing the trick correctly to train them out of fear. In the filing industry animals are used and sometimes killed so that the movie seems more Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Animal Cruelty Speech Have you ever seen an animal get beaten? Did it make you sad and sick to your stomach? Well everyday around the world their is an animal being abused and neglected. I believe it's time for a change we should protect and love our animals because it's wrong to harm another creature and to put them through so much pain. I believe it's time for a change we should protect and love our animals because it's wrong to harm another creature and to put them through so much pain. Animal cruelty either deliberate abuse or simply the failure to take care of an animal. Either way, and whether the animal is a pet or a farm animal or wildlife the victim can suffer terribly don't despair though anyone can take steps against cruelty. I believe that animal cruelty is wrong. Even so " All animal cruelty is a concern because it is wrong to inflict suffering on any living creature." Animals are beautiful creatures and we should not harm...show more content... " Most cases are never reported and most animal suffering goes unnoticed and unabated." I believe everyone should report animal cruelty because no one should suffer abuse or neglect. " Although there is no national report Ming system for animal abuse media reports suggest that it is common in rural and urban areas.'' We shouldn't harm creatures just for fun it's not right we should report all crimes so we can protect and save as many as we can. " The HSUS estimates that nearly 1 million animals a year are abused or killed in connection with domestic violence 50 states currently have felony provisions within their animal cruelty laws." • 4. Pros And Cons Of Animal Abuse Essay According to the ASPCA, "an animal is abused every sixty seconds". That's a lot of animals being abused for one country. There are government laws but none that have controlled animal abuse till this day. If the government had stricter laws or a new law to over control abusers then maybe the violence towards animals would stop. Should animal abuse be a felony? Animal abuse should be a felony because it's a form of violence. Animal abuse is done by a person feeling unnoticed and want to control others. The actions of an abuser is violent by the way they portray to the animal or person. The Humane Society states that "animal abuse comes in a range of behaviors that are harmful to animals and are considered neglect and killing and intentional abuse is depriving an animal of food, water, shelter, socialization and even veterinary care and during this the animal is being tortured, manipulated, or killed" (Humane Society). It effects the pet's social, mental and physical state. An animal can feel just as the same emotions as a human can for example a human feels joyful because she got an A on her grade card and a pet feels joyful for getting a treat. It damages their meaning of being a pet. They also distribute many emotions like love and happiness. They also feel pain and suffering when abused or harmed. Abuse can destroy the bond of the pet and the owner has and overtime the pet would become lost and aggressive towards the owner. Leaving the owner no choice, but euthanization. • 5. Animal Abuse Riley Smith Lang 120 Professor Murray March 31 2015 Animal Cruelty and Abuse Animal abuse is said to be an under reported abuse stated by The Humane Society, it is also seen as a disturbing abuse. The rate in which animal abuse is going is only making it terrifying. The statistics of animal abuse are rising more and more with each year that comes. Although humans see it as something unfathomable, animal abuse occurs every day. Animal abuse is when physical pain, scarring, or death is brought upon an animal for no reason or showing it neglect. As shown in a group of statistics by The Humane Society shows that most abuse cases occur in dogs the most, commonly the pit bull. The Humane Society states that in 2001 abuse that occurred with...show more content... But if humans would just take a little more precaution in the person and get to know the buyer then more than likely you will see their true identity within that time and you can decide on wether you think it is a good or bad idea to sell your animal to that person. There is a particular story told by a website called Animal Abuse and it tells a story of a pit bull named Oogy. The pit bull was one night thrown out as bait for another pit bull as practice before its fight. As Oogy was left there to die cops raided the house and immediately took Oogy to the animal hospital. As bad as the doctors wanted to save the poor dog it looked as if he was not going to make it through the surgery. The dog had lost a lot of blood and had his whole ear bitten off and some of his jaw taken off. But somehow he did, he made it through surgery. As a young man and his son came in with their 15 year old cat they saw the dog and instantly fell in love with the dog. They recalled it as if the dogs sent them a million kisses in that moment. The family later took the dog in and loved it as their own and took very good care of it – enough care to where it even learned to trust again, although it would have flashbacks. Once the father was kicking a stone off of their patio and as the dog saw the kicking motion he rushed back in the house and sat in the corner with fear in his eyes until he was soothed. • 6. Animal Abuse Research Paper Animal abuse is a big problem worldwide, many people do not realize all the problems and effects that come with it. In fact many people may not realize that Animal abuse is even happening they don't know how many animals are starving to death or have deep wounds and dry dirty skin others are burned to death and even thrown in the trash, and worst of all some people think that they can do anything to an animal and they won't feel pain. The history of animals is a key to stop animal abuse so people realize what animals have been through and the history of animal abuse in general. The saddest thing is that if children see people abusing animals when they are small then later they won't realize it's a bad thing. It's history, effects, and solutions...show more content... • 7. Animal Abuse Of The PSA introduction This PSA covers all aspects of animal abuse from neglect of care to deliberate acts of cruelty and includes suffering in the process of factory farming and scientific research. I have chosen animal abuse for my PSA topic because I love animals and would like to educate myself and others in hopes to finding a way to stop the cruelty. In researching this topic, I was saddened with the discovery that while there are laws that protect animals and those violating these laws may be prosecuted, there are so many cases that are never reported or taken seriously enough. The PSA includes the pernicious acts towards animals in the everyday life of human beings. summary The main purpose of this PSA is to show the neglect of animals in many ways displaying depressing pictures of agonizing situations inflicted upon many types of animals. The first picture is titled "Neglect," and shows a little puppy that looks as if it has mange, but appears to be in good hands now. Depressing music plays in the background. There were pictures that would change about every second to different scenarios and different cruelties that happen to animals which made it seem not quite organized because you did not really get the chance to feel the sadness of these shameful events that happen every day in the world. On top of the pictures of the abused animals, there are only about one or two words listed on each picture not really depicting the cruelty or sadness of the situation. The PSA gave you sad music, painful pictures, and only vague ideas of what was happening, but it wasn't organized well nor did it give you enough information about the animals in the photos or actual facts about animal cruelty in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Animal Abuse History Beginning with the first man and community numerous years ago, humankind has subsisted on agricultural bounties, as well as animal sources. Animals were widely revered as gods and were considered divine figures throughout the countries of the world. Each indigenous community had several specific species which they worshipped through ceremonies and rituals. The ceremonies varied widely in each community, but the respect for the animal was a similar factor in all. The tribes can be separated into two groups: one who occasionally killed the animals, and the other who only killed habitually. The communities who occasionally killed the animals used their killings as sacrifices to their particular god. They would capture the animal and skin it as an offering. The skin of the animal was considered a memorial to the god and it was placed in a temple to be preserved. Afterwards, the people would mourn the death of the animal and bury it as if it were a...show more content... The people worshipped the animal, but sought to kill it as often as possible because the animal was more use to them dead than alive. They would capture the young offspring of certain species and raise them for two or three years before killing them in a ceremony. During the rearing period, the animal was treated with respect and tenderness by each household in the community. Some people felt as though the animals had feelings, intellect, and souls, similar to the traits of humans. Others felt that killing an animal needed a motive, such as, revenge against a death caused by that specie or destruction of property. Many tribes had repercussions for those who chose to kill unnecessarily. In order for the tribes to survive not all animals could be spared; excuses were made and forgiveness was asked of each animal killed. Europeans fall into this category of habitual killers, but they do not worship the animal as a god, only as a source of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Animal Abuse Research Paper Animal neglect or abuse is a crime and should be treated and punished as such, no one should get away with endangering or abusing an animal. While thinking of animal abuse being a crime or felony people may have may questions such as, what is a crime? what exactly is animal abuse? or why should I care about animal rights? Although there may be an array of different questions asked about this specific topic but animals should be treated like humans, since both humans and animals are living beings. A crime is anything that goes against the national law and abuse has always been a type of violent crime but until now abuse of an animal was never taken seriously by law, now it is. Members of today's society may not agree with the law but they must go with it or they will be punished. Animal abuse shows early signs of trouble in children and young adults, therefore, should be taken seriously. " Animal abusers of today could be the serial killers of tomorrow" (@dogtimedotcom.). By considering animal abuse as a felony "we will protect both helpless animals and the people animal abusers are most likely to abuse" (Should Animal Abuse) which would bring a grand amount of protection to society. When thinking of animal abuse being a crime one should consider what exactly makes something a crime and what animal abuse is, after taking these things into consideration one will come to figure out that animal abuse is a mental illness that needs to be evaluated and is just as wrong as human abuse considering all living things have a sense of feeling and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Animal cruelty or animal abuse can be defined as the infliction of suffering or harm upon animals for purposes other than self–defense. There are many different types of abuse such as using animals for research, using animals for entertainment purposes, abandoning animals to shelters, and animal neglect. We need to raise awareness and find a solution to these issues. Animals are suffering and we need to help them. Animal research Every year there are millions of animals killed for scientific purposes. The reason we use animals is because they have similar organs to humans. A shelter is a place that takes in animals that no one wants anymore. Some shelters are no kill and some shelters are not. No kill shelters will try and help animals find a new home through an adoption. Kill shelters give a short amount of time for the owners to find their lost pets. Pets are a part of a family, they are not property. We need to prevent abandonment through awareness. Things like foster programs can help a pet temporarily until they can find a permanent home. This is cost effective and better for the animal. Animal Entertainment There are many types of animals used for entertainment such as circuses, dog fighting, zoos, and rodeos. All of these types of entertainment are not natural for these animals which is a form of abuse. Often times they are wild animals that don't belong in cages and are not able to do things that are in their instinct to do. This is especially true about zoos and circuses. Animals are not able to roam free and instead kept in small cages. Even in optimal settings experts say that it is difficult to provide for the needs of wild animals.(Lemonick) Children should learn to respect animals and not see them as entertainment. People should only support animal free circuses and raise awareness how animals are abused for entertainment. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Thesis Statement For Animal Abuse Topic: Animal Abuse Thesis statement: The number of animal abuse cases of the United States are rising and the correlation between this crime and other forms of abuse is becoming more and more evident. Annotated Bibliography Acione, Frank R., and Phil Arkrow, editors. "Child Abuse,Domestic Violence, and Animal Abuse: Linking the Circles of Compassion for Prevention and Intervention." Purdue University Press, 1999. The crux of this novel is the correlation between those who commit animal abuse crimes and what happens later to their life. Acione and Arkrow dedicated an entire chapter of their publication to assess their opinion backed up of a listed compiled of research. The piece of research that the authors chose to accentuate was the story of Luke Woodham. Woodham committed a terribly vile act of animal abuse which resulted in the sixteen–year–old boy having to go to court. To officers the case had just seemed as a teenager blowing off some steam, but it wasn't until Woodham was asked to speak about thecrime he had committed. I shall save you the disturbing details of his statements, but the statement was along the lines of the sounds the animals made reminded the boy of a human. In the end, what those in the court learned stunned them. Law enforcement thought they were dealing with a simple animals abuse case but now they realize that standing before them is one that could be compared to criminals such as Bundy and Manson. This gives off the impression that this website is strictly targeted towards those that are already supporters or members of PETA, not for those that are merely interested in learning about the unjust uses of animals. The design and structure of the main website are not necessarily helpful to the curious, uninformed reader, but the website does share a number of related websites in a simple manner. There is a link that plainly writes "Other PETA Sites." It was through this link that I was able to find a variety of other source s relating to PETA's beliefs. One website, named "Cows are Cool" guides readers through a variety of reasons why cows should not be killed, giving special attention to the making of leather (PETA Cows). Another site is specially made for kids. This site is dedicated to making children aware of the cruelties of animal abuse. On the topic of healthy animals, Laura Childs, the author of The Joy of Keeping Farm Animals describes, "buying healthy animals, keeping their bedding clean, feeding quality hay, providing clean water, and adhering to a veterinary–approved vaccination schedule" will lead to healthy animals and then to healthy meat and healthy people (2010, p. 200). Imagine the quality of meat that would come from an animal that does receive one or more of these necessary components. Through education and awareness, animal neglect can become a past memory for all farms. Stockmen, farmers, and everyone else are the cause of the neglect found on farms. In their article that was published by the American Society of Animal Science, Stull and Holcomb explain, "owner ignorance, economic hardship, and lack of responsibility were the highest ranked causes of neglect and cruelty cases" (2014, p. 2348). This meaning that some farmers chose to ignore the problems their animals are experiencing. Some can just not afford to keep the proper care for their animals, "economic hardship was ranked first for causes of neglect" (Hull and Holcomb, 2014, p. 2348). Animals are very loyal, such as dogs, dogs are one of the most loyal animals you can own. When abused, they don't know where they went wrong. They only know that you are mad at them. The people who abuse animals on purpose sometimes deal with mental illnesses, were abused as children, or have a hard time dealing with stress or anger. Animals are just like humans who have been abused. They are usually skittish and shy. People tend to see animals differently than humans, but they are the same in my eyes. Having animals fight for sport and entertainment is one kind of abuse that differs from the private killing and torture that most serial killers use. Animal sport fighting is illegal in all 50 states, and with good reason. Having animals fight each other to the death is one of the cruelest things someone could do. It's a painful and slow death for both animals. If one animal happens to be lucky enough to survive the fight that merely means they get to go fight another fight and so on until they eventually do die. Animal hoarding is another variation of abuse that shows an issue with either loneliness or a degree of Obsessive–Compulsive Disorder in which the person believes they have to "save" every animal they see and that they're the only ones who can care for the pet in the manner it requires; when in reality that mindset is actually harming all the pets in the situation and the person themselves.
