next to me; when I was excited he would run up to me and give me his butt for a rub because he was overjoyed too. When I got a boyfriend, Taj

boyfriend into a dog lover. Even when things got rough, my dog was always there. My family had some hard times when my mom got divorced a

When I started to volunteer at the Animal Rescue League of Iowa I didn't think very much of it. I needed volunteer hours and I love animals so I
thought it could be fun to go out there and see what I could do to help. It was also an opportunity for me to hang out with a few friends. At that

Six pets and six years of being an entrepreneur made me realize my goal of becoming a humanitarian after I graduate. Ever since 2006, my family

As I walk into the Homeward Animal Shelter for my dog walking shift, I think of the reason I began my weekly volunteering. I want to give love, in
any way I can, to the animals who have been left by the ones they love. These animals that I spend an hour and a half with every Sunday need to know
that someone loves them. That they have not been forgotten about and that it gets better. After spending the summer with my Aunt Renae and Uncle
Chris and watching their newest rescue dog open up to be after three years, I learned that. For a dog that was abandoned by his family and left on the
street, bounced between the shelter and temporary homes, he has finally found permanent love in our family.
Snoop's journey into our family began when his owners abandoned him and his little Chihuahua brother on the side of the road. They fended for each
other for days until they were brought to the pound. From there they were separated. Where the little Chihuahua went is unknown, but Snoop, being a
pure bread German Shepherd, was taken to the Missouri German Shepherd Rescue (MOGS). His white coat made him easy to love, but after the

Paul McCartney once said, "if slaughterhouses had glass walls, we would all be vegetarian." There are many different forms of animal cruelty, ranging
from labs, to farms, to even circuses. People have been using animals for a long time, they have controlled them for even longer. But despite that, there
have still been some positive outcomes from this otherwise dark subject. Some people support the things that are happening to these animals. But
others make it their mission to stand up for the animals that are mistreated everyday. Animal cruelty can mean many things to many different people, it
can be a controversial topic, with many different sides and stories to it, it has a long history, much of it being good, much of it bad.
There are more types of animal cruelty then one could even imagine. Many people do not consider that what they are eating, or wearing, or using, or
enjoying came at the cost of an animal. According to Rachel Hajar, one form of animal cruelty that has been put into the spotlight in recent years is
animal testing (Alternative to Animal Testing 39). Animals are brought into labs and spend their entire lives there being tortured, used, and
experimented on. It's estimated that each year, more than 100 million animals are used for experimenting. They use all sorts of animals, including
