What Are You Going For College Experience Essay
Are you going for the ''experience''?
Media/peer influence
During their highschool years, students often look forward to college. Not necessarily as a step towards a career, but as an experience. Over the
years, the media sells teenagers the idea of the ''college experience''. They promote it through movies, tv shows and ads. It's made out to be this
amazing transcendental and essential part of life. Miss out on it, and you'll have missed out on your youth. It's not only media though, older relatives
and peers, influenced by the media, further influence teens. They talk of their own cool college stories and how much fun it'll be once you're there. Is
your main reason for going to college to live this experience? Then let's see if it's worth it.
To be perfectly honest, the whole ''college experience'' is, in my opinion, a bit overrated. We've already talked about two parts of the college
experience: meeting people and partying. Meeting and connecting with people is very easy in college, and something you should take advantage of.
Partying, while not my cup of tea, is also something that's easier to do while in college. But both things, as we've seen before, can be done after
graduation too. And for the most part, they're only extensions of high school. So, what parts of the experience are exclusive to college? What can you
only get through the full experience?
Dorms
Co–ed dorms are the essential focus of what's seen as the college experience. Living away from mom and

My Experience In College Essay
I hope to contribute my diverse experience in working with different age groups from preschool through first–year college students. In addition, I would
like to share my perspective from being a first–generation Mexican–American. As a product from Los Angeles Unified School District and attending
an urban high school, James A. Garfield High School, in East Los Angeles, I want to share my personal experience attending an under–resourced and
overpopulated public high school. Also, I will be able to provide my personal experience in my community as well as share my cultural and family
expectations as a Latina woman. I hope to share my knowledge and understanding of different school districts and communities I have worked with
aside from my own.
At an early age, I had to devote my time out of school by working. My weekends and after–school time were either selling ice cream in a truck with my
father or cutting fruit in cart with my mother. Working became a huge barrier towards my education because I did not know how to prioritize my
education while thinking if I did not go to work with my parents we would not have enough money for groceries or rent. I then realized, I did not have
opportunities like the other kids such as joining sports at the park, after–school programs, or studying specific subjects I needed extra help.
Unfortunately, the occupation that my parents currently hold is difficult because when the weather is not favorable towards the products they sell there is

My College Experience : My Journey In College
If anything could be say about my first semester of freshmen year is that, so far, it's definitely been a journey. In my opinion the wonderful part of
college is that the independence granted allows for personal growth and responsibility which I Seem to be thriving on. This school year I have
learned a lot about myself, but in a much more real sense it was just realizing what I already had. Having the privilege of being a Catholic Scholar
has played a monumental role in my young adult life. Since the commencement of the semester the opportunity to bond with my cohort and form
relationships with those who engage in a similar prayerful life has been quite amazing. Even without being in the program I still would be going to
mass as well as partaking in lecturing, being an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, as well as also be in Music Ministry, however I would
not have the friends or support system with the Catholic Scholars program. It's been a huge source of love and friendship and honestly it has aided in
making my transition to college life a breeze. As a student, I have learned that I do extremely well in an independent setting. I really enjoy being able
to set my own studying hours and having the ability to interact with a multitude of people throughout the course of my classes. However, I have also
learned that college has two modes; everything hectic at once and a slow relaxed pace. It's taught me to challenge myself further and to push myself to

A Successful College Experience Research Paper
Throughout my life, I have set numerous goals for myself, with the main one right now being to attend college and graduate with a successful college
experience. While in college, I would like to have opportunities to have a strong support system and be around people who have the same aspirations
as I do when it comes to what they would like to achieve once graduating university. A program such as Crew Scholars would help me to experience
these things. I believe that by being in this group, I will have the extra support away from home that is needed whenever I am feeling defeated.
Whether it is academically, or even emotionally. The Drake Crew Scholars Program allows for an automatic "family" and friendships to be formed
once you reach the university.

My Experience As A College Student Essay
Introduction I have enjoyed the opportunity to be an active student in this class. I have been delighted to be able to speak in open discussions during
lecture and I wish that more professors practiced this method. The objective of this paper is for me to demonstrate an understanding of my learning
experiences through the information that I have learned over the duration of this course. I have chosen to focus on my experience as a college student
as the main topic of my self–assessment. Many topic discussions in class have given me insight to the way that humans obtain and process
information. The class sessions on confirmation basis, critical thinking and sleep were all very relatable to a returning college student like me. In the
previous assessment, I discussed these key elements in detail regarding how I maintained a balance of normality in my life. In this paper, I will
explain self–regulation and how the intrinsic method, extrinsic method, adaptation, and self–actualization all relate to learning as a college student.
Past School Experience As anyone could imagine making the decision to return to school was not an easy one. I had been out of college since
December of 2011. The last college that I attended was the University of Phoenix. I attended the ground campus in Sandy Springs, GA and the hour
commute was killing me. Although I only attended school once a week the amount of time that was required for me to put into my class assignments
was horrendous. I was

A week and a half before Thanksgiving break I found myself overwhelmed in an instant after learning the sheer amount of events and work that
would come up. Leading to November sixteenth and seventeenth, the deadline for all my assignments, I was given my first college research paper to
due, an important essay for my connections class, a midterm for my calculus two class, and two quizzes and a test for my Japanese class, all due in
the span of those two days. I additionally had individual issues around then that affected me further, they include the stress of registration, roommate
issues and the knowledge that my mom would not be home for Thanksgiving due to her visiting my grandma to stay with her through the sickness. At
that moment I felt a multitude of emotions, which prompt my mental breakdowns and crying consistently. I felt insufficient and futile, how would I
complete this work on time and with good marks? I had to keep my composure and try to push through by first, making a goal to take as much time as
necessary and complete one thing at a time, and second to take away my spare time and club time to put my work as my need, which would give me
more opportunities to finish my work. These goals, many late nights and two all–nighters got me through the majority of the work, but eventually
deteriorated my sanity, my physical and mental well being. Some issues that arose from these late nights were me oversleeping and missing a very
important calc review class, the

My Reflection Of My Academic Journey In College
I have changed a lot over the last two years. Relationships and attitudes have come and gone. However, I have always enjoyed learning. The pursuit
of knowledge continues to be important to me and I feel like I have learned a lot in my college experience so far. My academic journey has shaped
the way I look at myself, my moral understandings, and my view of happiness. In recent years, I have come to the conclusion that I am most definitely
a creator. I enjoyed making items in high school and earlier, but I have realized in college that it is an essential part of who I am. Furthermore, to be a
good creator, one must be a good critic. In my Honors seminars and other courses, we have read and analyzed many great works. The knowledge gained

Nothing can be perfect, but I strive for all of my works to be the closest it can get. I know now for sure that I am creator and it is what I always want to
be. I believe I have become a better person over the last two years. Or, at least, as good as I will get. I have a lot more respect for other people than I
used to. Before, I only surrounded myself with people that I thought would be useful later. It seems so horrible now. I went to a very large high
school. People came in and out of my life at a rapid pace. There were several people at my graduation that I had not seen in years. I thought they
literally dropped off the face of the Earth or just moved. There was little need to be a good person to people, because you would often never see
them again. Here, I no longer have that luxury. I mean, that is good. It is now necessary to have a good relationship with people. I think it has
certainly helped to have a group of classmates every year who have a common goal. Another conclusion I have drawn from my last few years is
that every person has a moral obligation to be as knowledgeable as possible. My biggest pet peeve is stupid people who think they are smart. We
are in the shape we are in today because of these people. I wish people would just admit when they do not know something. I do. I would never be
seen entering a conversation about molecular biology and acting like an expert. I

My College Experience : My Experience In My Life
I once saw a quote that said "do not judge my life by the chapter that you walked in on". For some reason, this quote really rings true to me. Would
people think of me in a different way if they knew my whole story? In every person's life, there are so any successes, challenges and failures, that if
you walked in on their life on any particular day, you would have no idea how they became the person that they are that day.
As I write this, I am sitting in a college class. My first college class. I decided to get English class under my belt before I start Arizona State
University in the fall. I am excited for this opportunity. To anyone who met me today, they would not have any idea how much college means to me. I
had great grades in high school. I have college educated parents. Anyone that met me in the last few years would have assumed that I would be here.
But for a while, college was not a foregone conclusion to my school career.
I was eight years old. I slid my plastic chair up to the long table at the back of my teacher's classroom. I came to school excited to learn and eager to
please my teachers, but today I was extra excited to be here. My teacher, knowing that I struggled with writing previously, had asked me to write a
piece on my favorite subject – Pokemon! I spent a long time on my writing and I had much to say on the subject. I proof read it over and over. I
carefully put it in my little plastic folder so it would not get bent. I turned it in. That day, I went

When I walked into college for the first time I had various expectations. Some of which were good and some were bad. For instance, after listening to
people talk about it, just the thought of going to college was terrifying to even contemplate, but then sometimes it would appear to be impossible.
However, after experiencing college firsthand I can say that my expectation and the reality were quite different. Although it can be intimidating, an
enormous amount of work, and a considerable amount of stress to handle; college does not have to be terrifying, and is definitely feasible through
dedication and perseverance.
My first expectation of college was that it would be daunting, and that I would walk through life as a wallflower....show more content...
To me, working to achieve my ultimate dream in life, which is to become a registered nurse, is worth all the effort and time it takes to fulfil that
dream. Therefore, even though I know it will be hard and is going to take dedication, going to college is the only way to succeed in fulfilling my
dreams. To achieve anything in life requires extreme commitment, but if
I set my mind to attain a specific goal; there is nothing that can stop me. My expectations and the reality were very different in terms of being
capable of managing everything in life in addition to being a college student. For example, in my mind being a college student was going to be
entirely too stressful and that I would never be able to handle everything that life throws as a result of being too busy with my studies. On the
contrary, being a full time student is not nearly as hard as by brain made it out to be. Once again, as long as college is prioritized properly, also, given
that I am diligent in my studying anything is possible. In order to achieve the optimum results education must be at the top of the priority list, and if
for any reason it falls below other things; my grades will suffer. Furthermore, diligence is vital to succeeding in college. Although it is intimidating,
college does not have to be terrifying. In contrast to my earlier assumption, this phase on life is

Reflection About My College Journey
As I reflect on my college journey thus far it is almost like looking at an previous life. The person I was the day I moved into my freshmen dorm is
long gone. In three and a half years I have developed and molded a professional philosophy. As stated by (Aristotle) "The most important relationship
we can all have is the one you have with yourself, the most important journey you can take is one of self–discovery. To know yourself, you must spend
time with yourself, you must not be afraid to be alone. Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom". As I continue to grow and further my
education my philosophy will adapt to new found knowledge. However, my passion for people, the desire to serve others, and my commitment to
heath education will stay the same. Growing up I always knew I wanted a career in healthcare. It was not till much older that I knew it would be
on the Education side rather than the clinical side of healthcare. I have always struggled with the ability to express my emotions. However, I
learned over the course of my life that specific characteristic about me is not necessary bad. I can emotionally detached myself in situations to
evaluate the best possible solution. My type A personality allows me to make take charge, and achieve the goals I set before myself. I believe I have
what it takes to inspire, and help people achieve heathier and more fulfilled lives. I was very unsure at first as to what I could do with a Pubic Health
degree. After, taking

My College Experience : My First Year Of College
My first college experience was at 18 years old, a young 18 I turned 18 in May and moved out of state to attend a small private college in Indiana in
August that same year. Went I graduated college I thought I was prepared and had all the tools I would need to succeed in college. In high school I
did everything (or so I though) I took advanced placement classes, I had a after school job, I was dedicated and serious about my classroom. My first
week of classes, I felt great, I thought I've got this no problem. Boy was I wrong. I began to struggle just a few week into classes and continued to
struggle consistently throughout the year. Not just academically, but emotionally too. I was away from home for the first time, I moved to a new state
and new city not knowing anyone for having the support I needed. After my barely scraping by my first year of college, I decided to move home and go
to Ohio State. Thing did not really improve academically for me there and after 2 semesters I dropped out. At this point I was married and living on
our own, I needed to work. I put my college education on hold for 11 years. During this time, I got a job as a receptionist in an office and worked there
for 4 years until I was laid off. I few weeks later, I receive another receptionist job which lead to my career in Project Management. I worked as a
project manager for 5 years, but still aspired to go back to college. However, having 3 kids, a husband, dog, house, and a laundry list of other

This year has been a life changing experience. This semester I took three classes, English, Advanced Reading, and Statistics. Knowing myself I thought
that I was good in any mathematical subject because I liked maths, but this semester of taking a statistics course changed my mind. The reading course
is practically the same to any other English subject I did in high school. In the first week two weeks of the semester I thought that I was doing well in
my statistics class and my advanced reading class and not in my English class. This is so because I thought my grades were low but when
midterm grades came out I realized that I was actually doing better in English class than the statistics and reading class. I never liked English. I
had always dread the thought of having to write essays even though I knew it will play a major part in accomplishing my nursing major.
Nevertheless, it was the techniques that I developed during this semester that has helped me to become better at thinking critically, to balance
school and my personal time, and to not stress myself. This is my second semester of college. I started in spring semester 2017. Over the summer
holiday I went through a painful breakup, and being away from my family and being alone, made it even worst. Although we got back together a
couple weeks after, my head was still messed up and I was still hurting. I have been away from my family, who lives in Jamaica, from last year which
had a major impact on my life

My College Experience : My Experience In College
Picture this, a big high school football playing senior in the middle of his school's stage. A sea of freshman fill the audience in front of him. He
has his thumbs up, elbows back, butt out, knees together, head back, and tongue out.He was singing the song "Singin in the Rain" and that
football player is me. I was leading the freshman in our first icebreaker of the day in hopes of waking them up while also setting the scene for fun
the rest of the day at our Freshman Ignition. For the third year I decided I would be a mentor for the Freshman, except, this time, as a Senior, I
would have a part in running the show. That day was full of fun activities like kung fu introductions, a skit for the freshman and a game called the
human machine. I had a lot of fun myself leading the kids around and talking to them. We were able to make a fun and exciting atmosphere which
contributed to a positive first experience for the freshman at high school. The ability to give back, help others grow, and make the time
worthwhile is the job of a mentor. In college I want to grow more than just academically. I strive to share lessons with others while . Sharing
valuable lessons can be very rewarding; knowing that you were a part of helping a person grow can provided a greater sense of accomplishment
than one may think. Many people have helped me grow but nobody has done more than my mom. She has pushed me to be inquisitive, work hard,
reach eagle scout and help others. My mom has been a great mentor for me in everything I do. This has inspired me to mentor others inside of boy
scouts. I took upon myself the role of Senior Patrol leader who has the job of being the youth leader of the troop. Our troop is boy run, boy lead
meaning only the adults only handle the logistics of outings. As the Senior Patrol Leader or SPL this means teaching the younger scouts basic camping
skill and older scouts about leadership. Specifically the SPL has many specific duties including: planning troop meetings, running the troop meetings,
preparation for campouts, running the campouts, and ends with a week of summer camp. At summer camp around twenty five boys go and I have to
lead them through nightly activities. In hopes to leave a permanent mark within

College, from what I heard from people say, is a time that you would not forget. From coming from such a far away place I did not really know what
to expect. I was expecting some changes, but not the changes that I experienced over the past semester. I have changed as a person with greater
openness of others' ideas and topics. I have changed with more independent from my parents and I have changed with more knowing of determining
who I want to be, and I have changed by being more understanding that a person has to ask questions or otherwise, when in doubt people will not
communicate with you. This past semester has been a time of self growth, which in turn has caused me to be a much different person that I had started
out with.
There were multiple times where I saw and heard other people's experiences and ideas. One of these times was in our Perspectives class, because of
the many discussions from the class, as a whole, and of the specialty group focusing on political ideology. I changed with the moderation of views
regarding economic policies, however, I am still fervent on my current views on social issues. Another time I have broadened my outlook is when I
normally walk around with some friends and then they occasionally they open up about themselves. Prior to SU, I felt there was no person out there
who had experienced or understood what I had to deal with my mother and my secluded life. Every person in SU that I have met had something with
them that had a direct

Essay: My Experience At Community College
In the summer, I attended a guidance class at Chaffey College. I thought that community college was for people who drop out of high school and not
take life seriously, but I got that idea from teachers who went straight to universities after high school. When I attended Chaffey, I was surprised to be
in a diverse culture. The people that I have met were so different and the professors were very helpful than I expected. Suffering through the midst of
exclusion taught me that there are so many options I can choose from in the future. Being a survivor from the destructive side effects of mind control
was shocking enough. Fortunately, I recovered from the operation that poisoned every inch of my mind. I was glad that I attended Chaffey because

College Entry Essay
My college experience started in the summer of 2002, and immediately after I graduated from high school. I was accepted to attend the University
of Alabama at Birmingham to study Radiologic Sciences, and I moved to Birmingham, Alabama to start my journey. After completing a few
successful semesters, my fiancГ© and I were surprised to discover that we were expecting our first child. We soon married, and I dropped out of
college in order to begin my life in North Carolina as a US Marine Corps wife and a stay–at–home mother. My husband proudly served our country for
four years, but we decided as a family that he would not reenlist, and we moved our family back home to Alabama. Returning to civilian life was not
easy, as we both struggled to find stable and descent–paying jobs to support our growing family. Fortunately, a year later my husband secured a job
with our local fire department, and I was able suspended work while pursuing an education and finishing my degree. With the assistance and guidance
of my advisor, I changed my major from pre–med to business, and I graduated from Calhoun Community College in the spring of 2013 with an
associate degree in business administration. Soon after graduation, I began classes at Athens State University to obtain a bachelor's degree in logistics
and supply chain management. During my years at Athens State, I have learned a considerable amount about myself, and acquired useful skills that

The College Experience Essay
The College Experience
"Tomorrow is the first day of what I will become." I wrote this in my diary the night before my first day of college. I was anxious as I imagined the
stereotypical college room: intellectual students, in–depth discussions about neat stuff, and of course, a casual professor sporting the tweed jacket with
leather elbows. I was also ill as I foresaw myself drowning in a murky pool of reading assignments and finals, hearing a deep, depressing voice ask
"What can you do with your life?" Since then, I've settled comfortably into the college "scene" and have treated myself to the myth that I'll hear my
calling someday, and that my future will introduce itself to me with a hardy handshake. I can't completely rid my...show more content...
Now I'm taking classes, paying dearly for each credit, and hoping that an career will spring from it all like Athena from Zeus. Not a day passes
where I don't reexamine my choices, and question myself as to what I would like to do to earn money. "Majoring in majoring" has been my motto as
I've thrown myself over a few areas in which I hold interest. Nearing the stage where I must announce a major or two, I can no longer hide with my
motto in hand.
Perhaps the biggest contributor to my anxiety in this issue is my financial situation. If money were no object and my classes, books, and credits were
free, I would be one of the grey–haired, life–long students in the front row. I would accumulate over fifteen degrees ranging from poetry prowess to
molecular biology, and I would take my sweet time in doing so. Heck, I might even live in the dorms for a few years. As my bank account will clearly
state, along with the decisions of our "not–so–benevolant" governor, my university education is not so idyllic. Because I am being propelled by
financial aid and a scholarship, I feel a painful itch that I must sort through my college education in four or five years or plan to take out a twenty–year
loan.
I've heard all the stories about "Jackie" who switched her major seven times before finally becoming a physician's assistant, or "Larry" who took eight
years to settle on becoming an optician. I've also

My Experience Of College Freshman
Good Day Everyone I would like to share my first semester in college life and my experience. My first semester in college. I notice about've been
noticing how college freshmen are so obviously college freshmen. I was extremely nervous about meeting people and making friends at National
College of Business and Arts. I also totally remember the excitement, anxiousness and remarkable amount of cluelessness that comes with being a
brand spankin' new college freshman. The first semester of my freshman year of college was a whole bunch of not getting what I wanted. Not getting
things that I applied for. Not fitting into the group of people that I wanted to be friends with. Not having any of the guys that I was interested in be
interested back. Not achieving the grades I wanted (and kind of assumed I would get). That's just a whole lot of experience...show more content...
And it's an experience that I offer to current college freshmen to learn from. But, even more valuable than my lessons learned, is your own
experience. I want to lock down and be completely focused on school and get the grades I want. College is way more enjoyable when you are
getting good grades. At one point during my first semester my grades weren't too good, and I wasn't enjoying college. I was always stressed out
and worrying constantly. Every time I went to sleep I would worry, and it really affected me. Now, I started the semester off strong and I'm really
enjoying college and I have no worries in the back of my mind Everyone has a different adjustment to college. Maybe you're the one who can and
will hit the ground running. Or maybe you're like me, and you just need to learn to be patient. So, even if you feel like you're not getting what you
want out of college, just realize that it is an experience for you to learn and grow from. Because this is just the

My College Experience
Throughout my lifetime I have listened to people reflect back on their college experiences and explain how college is supposed to be "the best
experience of your life." The summer after my senior year I use to try and imagine what my first semester was going to be like based on what I had
heard people talk about in the past. After my first semester at NC State I realized that I couldn't fully understand what college was like until I
experienced it for myself. My first couple of weeks at Ohio State was rough and really tested my strength (mental and physical). I faced challenges
and obstacles that I had never heard about in those past college experience conversations. All of a sudden there was no one to get me out of...show more

I can remember missing 8:05 classes because I stayed out too late the night before. In high school the teacher would constantly remind the students
when certain assignments were due, but this was not the case in college. I learned that the hard way my first semester. Sometimes I forgot to turn in
an assignment because I didn't properly read my syllabus and my professor never mentioned it. These were all new problems that could have easily
let escalate without taking the proper actions. For the most part I was doing fairly well but a few of my grades began to plummet. I was losing the
confidence in myself and started to wonder if going to college had been the best decision. The time had come for me to grow up and become an adult
even I didn't feel the time was right. I immediately began attending tutoring sessions, working with peers and also keeping a daily to–do list. These
factors were the eventually led to drastic improvement and success. After my first semester I learned how better manage my time, take advantage of
campus resources and also how to organize myself better. These struggles also taught me that sometimes I try and rush through things instead of
taking my time. I realized that one of my strong points is being able to really do well when my back is against the wall. Although I was unhappy
while facing obstacles I am happy I experienced them. I believe this experience was the reason for my

What Are You Going For College Experience Essay

  • 1. What Are You Going For College Experience Essay Are you going for the ''experience''? Media/peer influence During their highschool years, students often look forward to college. Not necessarily as a step towards a career, but as an experience. Over the years, the media sells teenagers the idea of the ''college experience''. They promote it through movies, tv shows and ads. It's made out to be this amazing transcendental and essential part of life. Miss out on it, and you'll have missed out on your youth. It's not only media though, older relatives and peers, influenced by the media, further influence teens. They talk of their own cool college stories and how much fun it'll be once you're there. Is your main reason for going to college to live this experience? Then let's see if it's worth it. To be perfectly honest, the whole ''college experience'' is, in my opinion, a bit overrated. We've already talked about two parts of the college experience: meeting people and partying. Meeting and connecting with people is very easy in college, and something you should take advantage of. Partying, while not my cup of tea, is also something that's easier to do while in college. But both things, as we've seen before, can be done after graduation too. And for the most part, they're only extensions of high school. So, what parts of the experience are exclusive to college? What can you only get through the full experience? Dorms Co–ed dorms are the essential focus of what's seen as the college experience. Living away from mom and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Experience In College Essay I hope to contribute my diverse experience in working with different age groups from preschool through first–year college students. In addition, I would like to share my perspective from being a first–generation Mexican–American. As a product from Los Angeles Unified School District and attending an urban high school, James A. Garfield High School, in East Los Angeles, I want to share my personal experience attending an under–resourced and overpopulated public high school. Also, I will be able to provide my personal experience in my community as well as share my cultural and family expectations as a Latina woman. I hope to share my knowledge and understanding of different school districts and communities I have worked with aside from my own. At an early age, I had to devote my time out of school by working. My weekends and after–school time were either selling ice cream in a truck with my father or cutting fruit in cart with my mother. Working became a huge barrier towards my education because I did not know how to prioritize my education while thinking if I did not go to work with my parents we would not have enough money for groceries or rent. I then realized, I did not have opportunities like the other kids such as joining sports at the park, after–school programs, or studying specific subjects I needed extra help. Unfortunately, the occupation that my parents currently hold is difficult because when the weather is not favorable towards the products they sell there is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My College Experience : My Journey In College If anything could be say about my first semester of freshmen year is that, so far, it's definitely been a journey. In my opinion the wonderful part of college is that the independence granted allows for personal growth and responsibility which I Seem to be thriving on. This school year I have learned a lot about myself, but in a much more real sense it was just realizing what I already had. Having the privilege of being a Catholic Scholar has played a monumental role in my young adult life. Since the commencement of the semester the opportunity to bond with my cohort and form relationships with those who engage in a similar prayerful life has been quite amazing. Even without being in the program I still would be going to mass as well as partaking in lecturing, being an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, as well as also be in Music Ministry, however I would not have the friends or support system with the Catholic Scholars program. It's been a huge source of love and friendship and honestly it has aided in making my transition to college life a breeze. As a student, I have learned that I do extremely well in an independent setting. I really enjoy being able to set my own studying hours and having the ability to interact with a multitude of people throughout the course of my classes. However, I have also learned that college has two modes; everything hectic at once and a slow relaxed pace. It's taught me to challenge myself further and to push myself to remain Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. A Successful College Experience Research Paper Throughout my life, I have set numerous goals for myself, with the main one right now being to attend college and graduate with a successful college experience. While in college, I would like to have opportunities to have a strong support system and be around people who have the same aspirations as I do when it comes to what they would like to achieve once graduating university. A program such as Crew Scholars would help me to experience these things. I believe that by being in this group, I will have the extra support away from home that is needed whenever I am feeling defeated. Whether it is academically, or even emotionally. The Drake Crew Scholars Program allows for an automatic "family" and friendships to be formed once you reach the university. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Experience As A College Student Essay Introduction I have enjoyed the opportunity to be an active student in this class. I have been delighted to be able to speak in open discussions during lecture and I wish that more professors practiced this method. The objective of this paper is for me to demonstrate an understanding of my learning experiences through the information that I have learned over the duration of this course. I have chosen to focus on my experience as a college student as the main topic of my self–assessment. Many topic discussions in class have given me insight to the way that humans obtain and process information. The class sessions on confirmation basis, critical thinking and sleep were all very relatable to a returning college student like me. In the previous assessment, I discussed these key elements in detail regarding how I maintained a balance of normality in my life. In this paper, I will explain self–regulation and how the intrinsic method, extrinsic method, adaptation, and self–actualization all relate to learning as a college student. Past School Experience As anyone could imagine making the decision to return to school was not an easy one. I had been out of college since December of 2011. The last college that I attended was the University of Phoenix. I attended the ground campus in Sandy Springs, GA and the hour commute was killing me. Although I only attended school once a week the amount of time that was required for me to put into my class assignments was horrendous. I was Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. A week and a half before Thanksgiving break I found myself overwhelmed in an instant after learning the sheer amount of events and work that would come up. Leading to November sixteenth and seventeenth, the deadline for all my assignments, I was given my first college research paper to due, an important essay for my connections class, a midterm for my calculus two class, and two quizzes and a test for my Japanese class, all due in the span of those two days. I additionally had individual issues around then that affected me further, they include the stress of registration, roommate issues and the knowledge that my mom would not be home for Thanksgiving due to her visiting my grandma to stay with her through the sickness. At that moment I felt a multitude of emotions, which prompt my mental breakdowns and crying consistently. I felt insufficient and futile, how would I complete this work on time and with good marks? I had to keep my composure and try to push through by first, making a goal to take as much time as necessary and complete one thing at a time, and second to take away my spare time and club time to put my work as my need, which would give me more opportunities to finish my work. These goals, many late nights and two all–nighters got me through the majority of the work, but eventually deteriorated my sanity, my physical and mental well being. Some issues that arose from these late nights were me oversleeping and missing a very important calc review class, the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. My Reflection Of My Academic Journey In College I have changed a lot over the last two years. Relationships and attitudes have come and gone. However, I have always enjoyed learning. The pursuit of knowledge continues to be important to me and I feel like I have learned a lot in my college experience so far. My academic journey has shaped the way I look at myself, my moral understandings, and my view of happiness. In recent years, I have come to the conclusion that I am most definitely a creator. I enjoyed making items in high school and earlier, but I have realized in college that it is an essential part of who I am. Furthermore, to be a good creator, one must be a good critic. In my Honors seminars and other courses, we have read and analyzed many great works. The knowledge gained ...show more content... Nothing can be perfect, but I strive for all of my works to be the closest it can get. I know now for sure that I am creator and it is what I always want to be. I believe I have become a better person over the last two years. Or, at least, as good as I will get. I have a lot more respect for other people than I used to. Before, I only surrounded myself with people that I thought would be useful later. It seems so horrible now. I went to a very large high school. People came in and out of my life at a rapid pace. There were several people at my graduation that I had not seen in years. I thought they literally dropped off the face of the Earth or just moved. There was little need to be a good person to people, because you would often never see them again. Here, I no longer have that luxury. I mean, that is good. It is now necessary to have a good relationship with people. I think it has certainly helped to have a group of classmates every year who have a common goal. Another conclusion I have drawn from my last few years is that every person has a moral obligation to be as knowledgeable as possible. My biggest pet peeve is stupid people who think they are smart. We are in the shape we are in today because of these people. I wish people would just admit when they do not know something. I do. I would never be seen entering a conversation about molecular biology and acting like an expert. I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. My College Experience : My Experience In My Life I once saw a quote that said "do not judge my life by the chapter that you walked in on". For some reason, this quote really rings true to me. Would people think of me in a different way if they knew my whole story? In every person's life, there are so any successes, challenges and failures, that if you walked in on their life on any particular day, you would have no idea how they became the person that they are that day. As I write this, I am sitting in a college class. My first college class. I decided to get English class under my belt before I start Arizona State University in the fall. I am excited for this opportunity. To anyone who met me today, they would not have any idea how much college means to me. I had great grades in high school. I have college educated parents. Anyone that met me in the last few years would have assumed that I would be here. But for a while, college was not a foregone conclusion to my school career. I was eight years old. I slid my plastic chair up to the long table at the back of my teacher's classroom. I came to school excited to learn and eager to please my teachers, but today I was extra excited to be here. My teacher, knowing that I struggled with writing previously, had asked me to write a piece on my favorite subject – Pokemon! I spent a long time on my writing and I had much to say on the subject. I proof read it over and over. I carefully put it in my little plastic folder so it would not get bent. I turned it in. That day, I went Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. When I walked into college for the first time I had various expectations. Some of which were good and some were bad. For instance, after listening to people talk about it, just the thought of going to college was terrifying to even contemplate, but then sometimes it would appear to be impossible. However, after experiencing college firsthand I can say that my expectation and the reality were quite different. Although it can be intimidating, an enormous amount of work, and a considerable amount of stress to handle; college does not have to be terrifying, and is definitely feasible through dedication and perseverance. My first expectation of college was that it would be daunting, and that I would walk through life as a wallflower....show more content... To me, working to achieve my ultimate dream in life, which is to become a registered nurse, is worth all the effort and time it takes to fulfil that dream. Therefore, even though I know it will be hard and is going to take dedication, going to college is the only way to succeed in fulfilling my dreams. To achieve anything in life requires extreme commitment, but if I set my mind to attain a specific goal; there is nothing that can stop me. My expectations and the reality were very different in terms of being capable of managing everything in life in addition to being a college student. For example, in my mind being a college student was going to be entirely too stressful and that I would never be able to handle everything that life throws as a result of being too busy with my studies. On the contrary, being a full time student is not nearly as hard as by brain made it out to be. Once again, as long as college is prioritized properly, also, given that I am diligent in my studying anything is possible. In order to achieve the optimum results education must be at the top of the priority list, and if for any reason it falls below other things; my grades will suffer. Furthermore, diligence is vital to succeeding in college. Although it is intimidating, college does not have to be terrifying. In contrast to my earlier assumption, this phase on life is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Reflection About My College Journey As I reflect on my college journey thus far it is almost like looking at an previous life. The person I was the day I moved into my freshmen dorm is long gone. In three and a half years I have developed and molded a professional philosophy. As stated by (Aristotle) "The most important relationship we can all have is the one you have with yourself, the most important journey you can take is one of self–discovery. To know yourself, you must spend time with yourself, you must not be afraid to be alone. Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom". As I continue to grow and further my education my philosophy will adapt to new found knowledge. However, my passion for people, the desire to serve others, and my commitment to heath education will stay the same. Growing up I always knew I wanted a career in healthcare. It was not till much older that I knew it would be on the Education side rather than the clinical side of healthcare. I have always struggled with the ability to express my emotions. However, I learned over the course of my life that specific characteristic about me is not necessary bad. I can emotionally detached myself in situations to evaluate the best possible solution. My type A personality allows me to make take charge, and achieve the goals I set before myself. I believe I have what it takes to inspire, and help people achieve heathier and more fulfilled lives. I was very unsure at first as to what I could do with a Pubic Health degree. After, taking Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. My College Experience : My First Year Of College My first college experience was at 18 years old, a young 18 I turned 18 in May and moved out of state to attend a small private college in Indiana in August that same year. Went I graduated college I thought I was prepared and had all the tools I would need to succeed in college. In high school I did everything (or so I though) I took advanced placement classes, I had a after school job, I was dedicated and serious about my classroom. My first week of classes, I felt great, I thought I've got this no problem. Boy was I wrong. I began to struggle just a few week into classes and continued to struggle consistently throughout the year. Not just academically, but emotionally too. I was away from home for the first time, I moved to a new state and new city not knowing anyone for having the support I needed. After my barely scraping by my first year of college, I decided to move home and go to Ohio State. Thing did not really improve academically for me there and after 2 semesters I dropped out. At this point I was married and living on our own, I needed to work. I put my college education on hold for 11 years. During this time, I got a job as a receptionist in an office and worked there for 4 years until I was laid off. I few weeks later, I receive another receptionist job which lead to my career in Project Management. I worked as a project manager for 5 years, but still aspired to go back to college. However, having 3 kids, a husband, dog, house, and a laundry list of other Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. This year has been a life changing experience. This semester I took three classes, English, Advanced Reading, and Statistics. Knowing myself I thought that I was good in any mathematical subject because I liked maths, but this semester of taking a statistics course changed my mind. The reading course is practically the same to any other English subject I did in high school. In the first week two weeks of the semester I thought that I was doing well in my statistics class and my advanced reading class and not in my English class. This is so because I thought my grades were low but when midterm grades came out I realized that I was actually doing better in English class than the statistics and reading class. I never liked English. I had always dread the thought of having to write essays even though I knew it will play a major part in accomplishing my nursing major. Nevertheless, it was the techniques that I developed during this semester that has helped me to become better at thinking critically, to balance school and my personal time, and to not stress myself. This is my second semester of college. I started in spring semester 2017. Over the summer holiday I went through a painful breakup, and being away from my family and being alone, made it even worst. Although we got back together a couple weeks after, my head was still messed up and I was still hurting. I have been away from my family, who lives in Jamaica, from last year which had a major impact on my life Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. My College Experience : My Experience In College Picture this, a big high school football playing senior in the middle of his school's stage. A sea of freshman fill the audience in front of him. He has his thumbs up, elbows back, butt out, knees together, head back, and tongue out.He was singing the song "Singin in the Rain" and that football player is me. I was leading the freshman in our first icebreaker of the day in hopes of waking them up while also setting the scene for fun the rest of the day at our Freshman Ignition. For the third year I decided I would be a mentor for the Freshman, except, this time, as a Senior, I would have a part in running the show. That day was full of fun activities like kung fu introductions, a skit for the freshman and a game called the human machine. I had a lot of fun myself leading the kids around and talking to them. We were able to make a fun and exciting atmosphere which contributed to a positive first experience for the freshman at high school. The ability to give back, help others grow, and make the time worthwhile is the job of a mentor. In college I want to grow more than just academically. I strive to share lessons with others while . Sharing valuable lessons can be very rewarding; knowing that you were a part of helping a person grow can provided a greater sense of accomplishment than one may think. Many people have helped me grow but nobody has done more than my mom. She has pushed me to be inquisitive, work hard, reach eagle scout and help others. My mom has been a great mentor for me in everything I do. This has inspired me to mentor others inside of boy scouts. I took upon myself the role of Senior Patrol leader who has the job of being the youth leader of the troop. Our troop is boy run, boy lead meaning only the adults only handle the logistics of outings. As the Senior Patrol Leader or SPL this means teaching the younger scouts basic camping skill and older scouts about leadership. Specifically the SPL has many specific duties including: planning troop meetings, running the troop meetings, preparation for campouts, running the campouts, and ends with a week of summer camp. At summer camp around twenty five boys go and I have to lead them through nightly activities. In hopes to leave a permanent mark within Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. College, from what I heard from people say, is a time that you would not forget. From coming from such a far away place I did not really know what to expect. I was expecting some changes, but not the changes that I experienced over the past semester. I have changed as a person with greater openness of others' ideas and topics. I have changed with more independent from my parents and I have changed with more knowing of determining who I want to be, and I have changed by being more understanding that a person has to ask questions or otherwise, when in doubt people will not communicate with you. This past semester has been a time of self growth, which in turn has caused me to be a much different person that I had started out with. There were multiple times where I saw and heard other people's experiences and ideas. One of these times was in our Perspectives class, because of the many discussions from the class, as a whole, and of the specialty group focusing on political ideology. I changed with the moderation of views regarding economic policies, however, I am still fervent on my current views on social issues. Another time I have broadened my outlook is when I normally walk around with some friends and then they occasionally they open up about themselves. Prior to SU, I felt there was no person out there who had experienced or understood what I had to deal with my mother and my secluded life. Every person in SU that I have met had something with them that had a direct Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Essay: My Experience At Community College In the summer, I attended a guidance class at Chaffey College. I thought that community college was for people who drop out of high school and not take life seriously, but I got that idea from teachers who went straight to universities after high school. When I attended Chaffey, I was surprised to be in a diverse culture. The people that I have met were so different and the professors were very helpful than I expected. Suffering through the midst of exclusion taught me that there are so many options I can choose from in the future. Being a survivor from the destructive side effects of mind control was shocking enough. Fortunately, I recovered from the operation that poisoned every inch of my mind. I was glad that I attended Chaffey because Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. College Entry Essay My college experience started in the summer of 2002, and immediately after I graduated from high school. I was accepted to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham to study Radiologic Sciences, and I moved to Birmingham, Alabama to start my journey. After completing a few successful semesters, my fiancГ© and I were surprised to discover that we were expecting our first child. We soon married, and I dropped out of college in order to begin my life in North Carolina as a US Marine Corps wife and a stay–at–home mother. My husband proudly served our country for four years, but we decided as a family that he would not reenlist, and we moved our family back home to Alabama. Returning to civilian life was not easy, as we both struggled to find stable and descent–paying jobs to support our growing family. Fortunately, a year later my husband secured a job with our local fire department, and I was able suspended work while pursuing an education and finishing my degree. With the assistance and guidance of my advisor, I changed my major from pre–med to business, and I graduated from Calhoun Community College in the spring of 2013 with an associate degree in business administration. Soon after graduation, I began classes at Athens State University to obtain a bachelor's degree in logistics and supply chain management. During my years at Athens State, I have learned a considerable amount about myself, and acquired useful skills that will benefit me in my current job as Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. The College Experience Essay The College Experience "Tomorrow is the first day of what I will become." I wrote this in my diary the night before my first day of college. I was anxious as I imagined the stereotypical college room: intellectual students, in–depth discussions about neat stuff, and of course, a casual professor sporting the tweed jacket with leather elbows. I was also ill as I foresaw myself drowning in a murky pool of reading assignments and finals, hearing a deep, depressing voice ask "What can you do with your life?" Since then, I've settled comfortably into the college "scene" and have treated myself to the myth that I'll hear my calling someday, and that my future will introduce itself to me with a hardy handshake. I can't completely rid my...show more content... Now I'm taking classes, paying dearly for each credit, and hoping that an career will spring from it all like Athena from Zeus. Not a day passes where I don't reexamine my choices, and question myself as to what I would like to do to earn money. "Majoring in majoring" has been my motto as I've thrown myself over a few areas in which I hold interest. Nearing the stage where I must announce a major or two, I can no longer hide with my motto in hand. Perhaps the biggest contributor to my anxiety in this issue is my financial situation. If money were no object and my classes, books, and credits were free, I would be one of the grey–haired, life–long students in the front row. I would accumulate over fifteen degrees ranging from poetry prowess to molecular biology, and I would take my sweet time in doing so. Heck, I might even live in the dorms for a few years. As my bank account will clearly state, along with the decisions of our "not–so–benevolant" governor, my university education is not so idyllic. Because I am being propelled by financial aid and a scholarship, I feel a painful itch that I must sort through my college education in four or five years or plan to take out a twenty–year loan. I've heard all the stories about "Jackie" who switched her major seven times before finally becoming a physician's assistant, or "Larry" who took eight years to settle on becoming an optician. • 18. My Experience Of College Freshman Good Day Everyone I would like to share my first semester in college life and my experience. My first semester in college. I notice about've been noticing how college freshmen are so obviously college freshmen. I was extremely nervous about meeting people and making friends at National College of Business and Arts. I also totally remember the excitement, anxiousness and remarkable amount of cluelessness that comes with being a brand spankin' new college freshman. The first semester of my freshman year of college was a whole bunch of not getting what I wanted. Not getting things that I applied for. Not fitting into the group of people that I wanted to be friends with. Not having any of the guys that I was interested in be interested back. Not achieving the grades I wanted (and kind of assumed I would get). That's just a whole lot of experience...show more content... And it's an experience that I offer to current college freshmen to learn from. But, even more valuable than my lessons learned, is your own experience. I want to lock down and be completely focused on school and get the grades I want. College is way more enjoyable when you are getting good grades. At one point during my first semester my grades weren't too good, and I wasn't enjoying college. I was always stressed out and worrying constantly. Every time I went to sleep I would worry, and it really affected me. Now, I started the semester off strong and I'm really enjoying college and I have no worries in the back of my mind Everyone has a different adjustment to college. Maybe you're the one who can and will hit the ground running. Or maybe you're like me, and you just need to learn to be patient. So, even if you feel like you're not getting what you want out of college, just realize that it is an experience for you to learn and grow from. Because this is just the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. My College Experience Essay examples My College Experience Throughout my lifetime I have listened to people reflect back on their college experiences and explain how college is supposed to be "the best experience of your life." The summer after my senior year I use to try and imagine what my first semester was going to be like based on what I had heard people talk about in the past. After my first semester at NC State I realized that I couldn't fully understand what college was like until I experienced it for myself. My first couple of weeks at Ohio State was rough and really tested my strength (mental and physical). I faced challenges and obstacles that I had never heard about in those past college experience conversations. All of a sudden there was no one to get me out of...show more content... I can remember missing 8:05 classes because I stayed out too late the night before. In high school the teacher would constantly remind the students when certain assignments were due, but this was not the case in college. I learned that the hard way my first semester. Sometimes I forgot to turn in an assignment because I didn't properly read my syllabus and my professor never mentioned it. These were all new problems that could have easily let escalate without taking the proper actions. For the most part I was doing fairly well but a few of my grades began to plummet. I was losing the confidence in myself and started to wonder if going to college had been the best decision. The time had come for me to grow up and become an adult even I didn't feel the time was right. I immediately began attending tutoring sessions, working with peers and also keeping a daily to–do list. These factors were the eventually led to drastic improvement and success. After my first semester I learned how better manage my time, take advantage of campus resources and also how to organize myself better. These struggles also taught me that sometimes I try and rush through things instead of taking my time. I realized that one of my strong points is being able to really do well when my back is against the wall. Although I was unhappy while facing obstacles I am happy I experienced them. I believe this experience was the reason for my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
