Persuasive Essay On Owning A Pet
When getting a pet you can't just buy one because they look cute or you just want to have a pet. You must consider the responsibilities of a pet owner
and have an understanding of how to take care of a pet. You should consider where you will buy your pet, the cost of owning certain pets, the amount
of time you spend away from home, and the type and what kind of personality an animal has. Also, you should know why you want to get a pet
whether it's a friend or a substitute for a child.
When you start looking for a pet to buy it would be a good idea to figure out what type of pet you want whether it's a dog, cat, or bird. There are
multiple types of animals and each has a variety of breeds. Each animal's personality is different just like humans, some are more social than others.
It would be a good idea to do research about the different types of animals to get a better understanding. Specific breeds also have information about
the common personality they may have. While doing research remember that "Often the negative aspects of a species are glossed over"(Ten Rules
For Choosing the Right Pet). When people write about a specific pet, they are usually biased towards the animal they are writing about. Once you have
an idea of what type of animal you want, you should compare your lifestyle to the animal's lifestyle.
Having a similar lifestyle and personality as your pet will offer a happy environment in your home. You will have to interact with somepets more than
others.

Difficulty Writing an essay at Tertiary Level
Writing an essay at Tertiary level is an extremely difficult process.
Introduction
The ability to write a quality piece of writing at the tertiary level is a procedure that does not come easily. As mentioned in Marshall and Rowland
(2006, p.195).the complexity of developing a style of writing that is personal and academic while processing and developing thoughts and concepts
into a presentable piece of academic writing can be a daunting process ( myself included ).
This essay will discuss some of the barriers a student may experience during their writing experience. The development of research and reading skills in
their approach to learning and difficulties a student may experience due to procrastination and consequently...show more content...
Therefore the writing of an essay, although difficult, is a process that is of benefit to the student as a capstone or finish to their study. As Rowntree
mentions "Writing is the crucial step without which study would be incomplete" (2006, p.65).The writing of an essay is a process where you
communicate your skills and knowledge in the written form.
Physical Hurdles
The written essay is a task that is normally done by the writer away from class. The timeframe is usually adequate provided the student begins in a
timely fashion without procrastinating. When writing at home the immediate environment may have debilitating effects. Orr (1992, p.80). States"To
maximise your output arrange for a quiet and distraction free writing period". This I find is particularly important as I can also relate to this as well as
a quote in Marshall and Rowland (2006, p15). "...in formal learning you are required to concentrate for sustained periods and to study subjects that
aren't of immediate importance to you."
Your physical surroundings are important for producing an atmosphere conducive to effective study and writing. A student who is balancing study and
work with limited control over time may have trouble concentrating on producing a well balanced essay, in comparison to someone who has their own
room, desk and family support. Likewise essay writing can discriminate

Intermediate Writing Class Essay
It is good for college students to take Intermediate Writing class before English Composition I class if their reading's and writing's score are not as the
standard expectation. Intermediate class is designated to help students improve their writing skills and enhance the knowledge of how to structure a
paper. Intermediate writing class helps students improve on grammar structure, transition words, and how to use other resources properly. First
reason to take intermediate writing class is it would help students get better at grammar structure. First example for grammar structure is a sentence
should have a subject and a verb like "John often comes late to class", the subject is John and the action is comes late to class. Second example for
grammar structure is sentences fragments, fragment sentences are unfinished sentences, which mean they do not contain a complete idea; "I don't
think I'm going to get a good grade in this class. Because I didn't study", the idea of that sentence is the student thinks that he or she will not get good
grade and the reason why he or she will not get good grade because he or she did not study. Last example for grammar structure is how to use sentence
types correctly, like compound sentence...show more content...
First example of this is that students must give the author of the resources they want to use credits by put the author's last name and the page number
of the sources they found. Second example of how to use others' resources properly is that students must use the sources in different ways like student
can paraphrase the quotes or they can direct quote the sources, but they should only quote a few sentences each times. Last example of how to use
others' resources properly is that student must use correct information, information that within ten years from now, and must use a reliable sources

The Importance Of Intellectual Writing
Writing is a skill that will help you succeed, regardless of your future profession. Most students would consider intellectual writing, as a means to
pass the requirements that is needed to graduate college, but in fact, writing can lead to a lot of job and career opportunities. Most jobs require
intellectual writing for business practice and scheduling appointments, some jobs offer more in terms of writing level. In a world that naturally
keeps getting smarter, writing as a skill does not just set students for some writing major, but it prepares students for what's out there in the world.
Most careers such as receptionists, financial counselors, surgical coordinator, and more, as previously it doesn't matter what your profession maybe
writing serves as a skill that is a requirement to any career students may have. Other Benefits students may gain in terms of the working field is the
growth of communication, communication which is led by a proper writing skill, can have workers socialize about there objectives and assignments,
as it says on (page 1, paragraph 2)"In other words, students benefit from more exposure to writing instruction rather than less. In this case it clarifies
that adapting to intellectual writing can serve as a learning experience for either students or job employees to be more open with a team or group. In
the sense of communication, it doesn't necessarily mean your going to constantly write essays for major, but it may improve your speech and language.

The Importance Of College Level Writing
The importance of collegeā€“level writing is a topic that is very much backed up and accompanied by facts and studies. Writing in the collegeā€“level is
needed in order to master college work in any class. Basically all classes require you to more than likely submit some kind of research paper or essay.
Writing for Learning to Improve Students' Comprehension at the College Level by Fahad Alharbi as well as Luiza Costa Ribeiro, Writing Essays
at College: Why it's Important both go into detail on how important writing at this level is and all the skills learned for during and after college. As
well on how you can benefit from them. Students should care about learning how to write at the college level because it is part of the foundation of
learning how to comprehend readings. Learning to understand any type of readings can help in the workplace as well as college. This is because the
reader will be able to fully the grasp the idea of what is being told to to them. Therefore, the best way to learn this skill is being able to be a writer that
knows how to "influence a student's comprehension"(Alhabri 2). This could also help in the workplace because you know what to do in order to get
the job done effectively. Another reason for learning how to write in the college level it is because all college classes you writing as a medium for

The Importance Of College Level Writing
Professional scholars have their own perspective on what college level writing is and how it is done. A various number of scholars believe that
college writing consists of well articulate writing skills and having the authority to make your work dynamic in every aspect. Well articulate writing
skills consist of knowing how to explain yourself with legitimate grammar, and having the authority is knowing automatically how you are going to
write, and having the ability to write coherently. Scholars like Elizabeth Wardle and Donald M. Murray have explained what college levelwriting is in
their knowledge and how to distinguish those writing skills in your essay. College level writing in Elizabeth and Donald's view consist of finding your
identity. To start off, a professional scholar named Elizabeth Wardle believed that in college writing, it is important to find an identity in your writing.
Finding your identity in writing is when the writer knows their limits, and they stick to who they truly are as a writer and not modify into something
that they are not. In Elizabeth Wardle Identify, authorities, quotes she says, "To find their own unique identities within new organizations, new comers
must choose levels and types of engagement; they must find modes of belonging" (Wenger 156). Elizabeth Wardle says that writer's must put
themselves in a position where they are going to be comfortable in and not engage in something that's out of their usual comfort zone. As Elizabeth says,

Reflective Letter Sample
I'm writing this letter to tell you about my learning outcomes and experiences in your class. Let me start off by saying that 2017 has been the worst
year of my life. Nothing went the way I wanted it to. I experienced so many different things and had been in so many wild situations. I had started
losing sight of who I was as a young man which scared me. Until, your English 101 class. This class is one of the highlights of this whole year. I
have learned so many things about myself in this class and it changed my overall perspective of life. I am a better me in all aspects especially
mentally. Plus, I have developed my writing skills and became a better writer overall.
I have changed so much as a writer throughout this quarter in your class. For example, coming into your class my conclusion was horrible and I
knew it was because teachers told me this in the past, but never really told me how to fix it. Until you finally told me when writing your
conclusion ask yourself "So What". This helped me so much and it shows on assignments like the Autoethnography. Like you always say, "If you
know better, you do better". The biggest reason my writing skills have improved is because of the amount of writing we do in your class. I have
written more papers in this class in one quarter than I have written in 4 quarters in my Honors English class last year. Crazy right? The fact of the
matter is that practice makes perfect. The more I practice something the more flaws I will catch and

My Essay On College-Level Writing
Like you stated in your essay, no one is perfect at writing. That being said, I still enjoyed your essay. You described your experiences and opinions in
a satisfactory way, and it was easy for me to understand what collegeā€“level writing means to you from reading your essay. The subject of the essay
didn't get lost and you kept me interested throughout it all, even making me feel like I could relate to some of your experiences. I feel like you did a
good job at portraying these experiences and you knew exactly what you were talking about. Many of the transitional phrases used, contributed to the
cohesiveness within your paper. I also felt like I was given an insight into your past experiences and it was interesting to learn how your background
shaped the way you currently view higher level writing. You did not miss the point of thisessay and I feel like you took your time to understand what
was asked of you before you started writing and it definitely shows.

There were a few words that could have been written differently. This definitely didn't take away the quality of your essay, in my opinion, but
sometimes, something as simple as going over the paper a few times to make sure our words have a space between them could improve the reader's
experience by a great amount. To give you a few examples: "Had helped", "actually speaking", "thinking is", and "exactly informative" are all written
together in the paper. Additionally, A few word choices could be improved and some words reduced or replaced. Some suggestions on this topic: Your
second sentence where it says "communication" could be easily changed to communicating and "either" shouldn't be used there. Instead of "not",
maybe saying what you mean specifically. (Nonverbal) and applying the correct usage of

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and
done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the
middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my
essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I
use to always skip the preā€“writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing,
and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not
have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that preā€“writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it
holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the
importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the preā€“writing that I was fortunate
enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

Essay About My English Class
I can remember seeing that I had to take an English class my first semester of college. I was already overwhelmed with starting college, and having
to write college essays made me get even more nervous. I sat down with my mom and decided to look at the English classes available, and I finally
decided that I had to take an evening class to make it work in my schedule. The first day of English came and now looking back it was not as bad as I
thought. It made me a better writer and be where I am today. It may have taken me some time to get where I am today, but at least I am on the right
track. English Composition helped me realize that I am my own author and have strengths that I did not realize I had. When I first started college I did
not know what to expect with an English class. I liked writing about topics that interested me, but high school did not allow me to do that. I took

I learned many techniques from my professor. He helped me realize that it is okay to have your own opinion as long as you back it up. He showed
me that I am an author when I did not think I was. He also told us to read our essays out loud when we proofread, and I always did this technique
before submitting all my essays. I can remember having to write my first essay and I was scared, because I felt like I had to get a good grade. I
started thinking about what tools I could use to help me, and I decided to go to The Learning Center to help with my essay. When I went there they
would make edits to my essay and then explain what I should change. The tutor noticed I used multiple choppy sentences and commas in spots there
should not be. Sometimes I would even go twice to make sure I did not miss any minor mistakes. Going there helped me feel more confident as a
writer and I learned from my mistakes. I had many helpful techniques from multiple people that shaped me into the writer I am

Reflective Essay On English 101
Proficient writing is an essential skill in all aspects of academic and professional achievement. English 101, Introduction to Composition and Rhetoric,
provided the framework to good writing, teaching me composition and rhetoric fundamentals, polishing up my grammar and style, and expressing a
clear message. English 102, Composition, Rhetoric, and Research, continued to build on the skills I learned in English 101, focusing on the subject
matter research process and employing various rhetorical and literary devices to better express a clear message to the reader. The course also
improved my critical thinking capacity, allowing me to culturally evaluate my target audience, present logically flowing arguments using appropriate
language and structure, and critically reviewing my writing projects for content and expression. Every writer inherently knows there's always room
to improve and I hold fast to this mindset in all academic, professional, and personal writing projects. English 102 has both challenged and inspired
me to grow into a much better writer than before I began the class, providing the necessary skills to be not just a good writer, but a great writer.
Most of my English 102 writing projects are rhetorical arguments, intended to persuade the reader in one direction or another. Reflecting on the many
skills I honed in English 102, my predetermined use of rhetorical strategies (ethos, logos, pathos), developing a concise thesis statement, and clearly

Importance Of College Level Writing
Collegeā€“level writing is frightening it's basically a wakeup call that you're growing up and writing essays will probably be applied in whatever you
do. But it's important for us students to know how to write an essay properly, so it can benefit us in our future as students and in our future careers. It
would be difficult for me to say that as a student, that when I first thought of college writing, I thought you write millions of facts down and call it a
day. But collegeā€“level writing is a piece of writing of written work that should grab the reader's attention because as a college writer your written work
should go more inā€“depth into the assigned topic. There are many examples that a college level writing piece should include, such as good research,
sources must be listed, and the structure should be logical. Lots of experiences in my life made me realize the definition of college writing, for
instance, writing essays through the years, reading articles, and having my own blog.
The first thing my teachers always tell me when beginning to write an essay is to make sure to grab the reader's attention. This should be one of the
main goals when writing a collegeā€“level essay. A writer should always try to grab a reader's attention, you can do this by having the idea, your
audience has no idea or little information on what you're going to talk about. This can help the writer provide lots of detail and background information
when beginning to write this article. For instance,

My Experience In English Writing
English is a core concept in the Untied States and other countries that has allowed inviduals to advance their knowledge. Not only does English
provide an advancement in knowlege, but has created a way for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings through writing. Which is why English
is one of the four subjects that is required to be taught in almost every school district in America including mine. I began taking English from a young
age which allowed me to take advanced placement English IV my senior year at Tupelo High School. Advanced Placement English IV allowed me to
further my education in writing, which in return allowed me to overcome obstacles, low points and discover strengths I never knew I had. Like any
other thing in life there are always obstacles individuals face everyday, for me in my English IV class writing was something that was very
challenging. The first challenge writing presented to me was trying to organize all of my thoughts, so that it made sense. The first essay I ever wrote in
my English class was a journal entry about a memorable experience, so with that being said I decided I would write about the experience I had while
hunting with my Dad. The hunting experience with my dad had many different parts, and one of my biggest challenges I had was organizing my
thoughts, so that it flowed correctly. Since I was telling a story within my journal I realized that I was jumping around more then I should have and this
became a problem. I learned

The Importance Of College Level Writing
An area of confusion in the college world is what defines collegeā€“level writing. There are many possible answers to this question. Students may be
confused about this issue because they want to know what is expected of them in their composition classes and the writing that they have to do in their
other classes. All of us want to succeed when we get to college and writing makes up a big part of the college learning experience since we have to
write in every class we have. Excelling in writing, and especially in writing at the college level, will help students succeed in college because of all of
the writing involved in all of their classes. Before we write our papers however, we need to learn how to write at the college level and before that what
collegeā€“level writing is. Collegeā€“level writing is something that requires more attention to content and quality than high school level writing, something
that has varying expectations between colleges and professors, and something that requires the writer to actively participate in their writing to become
better.
Some students may believe that the work that they did in high school will be similar to the work that they do in college, but, "there is no guarantee
that students who do well in high school composition will automatically do well in college composition" (Davies 31). A student that does excel in their
high school writing classes may think that they know how to write at the college level and that they do not need to further

Reflection Of Creative Writing
It is my belief that through this class and the tools provided, that my growth as a writer has grown through leaps and bounds I would never have
assumed possible. It is not so much the skill I refer to, although I would think skill has gone up in some levels as well, but more so the appreciation
for the craft of writing itself. Intially, at the start of this class my sole goal was to further my understanding and appreciation of the writer's and books
that I so love to read. Through further evaluation within the first week, a few other goals came to mind, of which were, making writing a habit,
finishing what I start, stop second guess my writing skills and making effective use of detail and description. Through the use of the many articles,
various reading materials, whether poems or short stories, and especially through the workshop, I feel I was able to really push myself to
accomplishing these goals. I have thus far learned how important it is not to be skilled at writing per say, but to have the will to write, that poetry is
as much about it's sound as it is about it's subject, just how important character development is, how the narration and point of view of a story is
essential to the way the story is told, and just how much of a difference peer's critiques can make to your writing.
Since before the beginning of this creative writing course, I have always struggled to find a point to writing. By this, I mean that I always felt that
having great skill and talent was what was required to be a writer, let alone a great one. From this point, I felt there was no need to continue my
writing as I felt that in a sense it just wasn't good enough. However, reading the article "A Way of Writing", I found new hope. Here was a writer
who says things such as "I must be willing to fail. If I am to keep on writing, I cannot bother to insist on high standards. I must get into action and not
let anything stop me, or even slow me much"(Stafford) and quotes that writers don't necessarily have any special talent. The article "Why I Write"
instilled further optimism through the authors view on just being a writer, not focusing on being good or bad. I found her words in which she writes
"entirely to find out what I'm

I Am Confident For My Writing
Writing has never been my strong suit so I understood why I had been placed into EWRT 211. Before this class I had not written an essay since I
was a junior in high school (six years ago). I have always struggled with writing, but it was not until my first diagnostic essay that I realized how
terrible my writing skills were. Everything about the diagnostic essay screamed that I did not know what I was doing. Since then, I have noticed a vast
improvement in my writing. This class has taught me how to become a better writer by creating stronger theses and by knowing why rough drafts are
important to writing. Nevertheless, I still need to develop better strategies to manage my writing. I chose my essays, What Influences Teens To Become
Adults and Resilience Among College Students, because they demonstrate my growth throughout this class. Even though I still need to improve on
managing my writing, I am confident in moving to EWRT 1A because I have learned how to create strong theses, and how rough drafts have a great
impact on my writing.
Without a strong thesis an essay falls apart and fails to let the reader know what they are trying to say. For instance, in my rough draft Stop of Reality
my thesis was very vague and did not meet the requirements for the essay. It stated, "Although the injustice that these [Native American] women face
still continue to this day, the women these three tribes face...will slowly begin to see justice for the crimes that were committed upon them"

In teaching and learning English, there are two aspects that should be concerned. The first one is the language skills such as speaking, listening,
reading, and writing. The second one is the language components such as vocabulary, and grammar. These two aspects are taught in order to make the
students achieve the ability in communicating both in spoken and written forms.
Writing is one of the four basic skills to be taught for the students. It is a way for students to express their idea and opinion. The important of writing
can be seen in daily activities when they need to write short texts such as memos, invitation letters, sympathy notes, brochure, article, business letters,
applications letter and many others. Through writing students can transfer their experiences and knowledge to others. So, they should be able to
produce sentences and develop it into paragraphs and essays. It is active thinking process of the students to plan, arrange and express idea in order the
text could be understood by the readers. A good writing helps avoid misunderstanding between the writer's idea and the reader's opinion.
In senior high school, writing should be learnt by the students. Based on curriculum that is KTSP (kurikulum tingkat satuan pendidikan), one of the
purpose of senior high school students in learning English is the students can develop communication competence in oral and written forms to achieve
informational literacy level. In other words, in this level, the students are

What Makes Good Writing? Essay
This for me was a very hard question to answer due to the fact that its an opinion, and there are very many types of writing. Different structures, ideas,
metaphors, and concepts. You have to remember to ask, whether the writing in itself is good in my point of view or not, has to answer to my specific
guidelines which in your case might not be the same. The first and foremost of the many guidelines is how the author set's up the introductory sentence
or better yet, the hook. If the author for example, is writing a cookā€“book, his first sentence should be appealing to the sense of taste. For example, If you
are writing on how to bake a chocolate cake, you can sound appealing by saying, it will almost feel like you added a hint of heaven...show more

Obviously the reader wont stay keyed in if you aren't, but I'm talking about making sense in a way where the reader can relate to you. Give an
example of a situation that most people go through in everyday life. The main idea that authors need to keep with them is the power of the authors
words relays only upon the reader.
Another huge element in good writing is production. You can be interesting, you can sound great, but if your story is just not headed anywhere the
reader will eventually lose focus and move on. Even if you have many details surrounding your story, try to focus in on the ones that play key roles.
A lot of readers talk about how something happened more then why. I like to hear the reasons for why rather then for how because if you already
know the climax of the story you really wouldn't wanna track your steps back, though informing the reader why can actually spice things up.
The biggest factor that plays in good writing in my opinion is how much emotion the writer puts into his or her work. Honestly, a good reader will be
able to tell how much effort was put into a writing from the first couple of sentences. If the reader gets a sense of the writing trying to force words
into a sentence or trying to stretch out a page you will lose your reader right then and there. If you honestly believe in what you are writing and have
interest in the subject matter the reader will be able to read between the lines and actually have a feeling of being there,

Persuasive Essay On Owning A Pet

  • 1. Persuasive Essay On Owning A Pet When getting a pet you can't just buy one because they look cute or you just want to have a pet. You must consider the responsibilities of a pet owner and have an understanding of how to take care of a pet. You should consider where you will buy your pet, the cost of owning certain pets, the amount of time you spend away from home, and the type and what kind of personality an animal has. Also, you should know why you want to get a pet whether it's a friend or a substitute for a child. When you start looking for a pet to buy it would be a good idea to figure out what type of pet you want whether it's a dog, cat, or bird. There are multiple types of animals and each has a variety of breeds. Each animal's personality is different just like humans, some are more social than others. It would be a good idea to do research about the different types of animals to get a better understanding. Specific breeds also have information about the common personality they may have. While doing research remember that "Often the negative aspects of a species are glossed over"(Ten Rules For Choosing the Right Pet). When people write about a specific pet, they are usually biased towards the animal they are writing about. Once you have an idea of what type of animal you want, you should compare your lifestyle to the animal's lifestyle. Having a similar lifestyle and personality as your pet will offer a happy environment in your home. You will have to interact with somepets more than others. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Difficulty Writing an essay at Tertiary Level Writing an essay at Tertiary level is an extremely difficult process. Introduction The ability to write a quality piece of writing at the tertiary level is a procedure that does not come easily. As mentioned in Marshall and Rowland (2006, p.195).the complexity of developing a style of writing that is personal and academic while processing and developing thoughts and concepts into a presentable piece of academic writing can be a daunting process ( myself included ). This essay will discuss some of the barriers a student may experience during their writing experience. The development of research and reading skills in their approach to learning and difficulties a student may experience due to procrastination and consequently...show more content... Therefore the writing of an essay, although difficult, is a process that is of benefit to the student as a capstone or finish to their study. As Rowntree mentions "Writing is the crucial step without which study would be incomplete" (2006, p.65).The writing of an essay is a process where you communicate your skills and knowledge in the written form. Physical Hurdles The written essay is a task that is normally done by the writer away from class. The timeframe is usually adequate provided the student begins in a timely fashion without procrastinating. When writing at home the immediate environment may have debilitating effects. Orr (1992, p.80). States"To maximise your output arrange for a quiet and distraction free writing period". This I find is particularly important as I can also relate to this as well as a quote in Marshall and Rowland (2006, p15). "...in formal learning you are required to concentrate for sustained periods and to study subjects that aren't of immediate importance to you." Your physical surroundings are important for producing an atmosphere conducive to effective study and writing. A student who is balancing study and work with limited control over time may have trouble concentrating on producing a well balanced essay, in comparison to someone who has their own room, desk and family support. Likewise essay writing can discriminate Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Intermediate Writing Class Essay It is good for college students to take Intermediate Writing class before English Composition I class if their reading's and writing's score are not as the standard expectation. Intermediate class is designated to help students improve their writing skills and enhance the knowledge of how to structure a paper. Intermediate writing class helps students improve on grammar structure, transition words, and how to use other resources properly. First reason to take intermediate writing class is it would help students get better at grammar structure. First example for grammar structure is a sentence should have a subject and a verb like "John often comes late to class", the subject is John and the action is comes late to class. Second example for grammar structure is sentences fragments, fragment sentences are unfinished sentences, which mean they do not contain a complete idea; "I don't think I'm going to get a good grade in this class. Because I didn't study", the idea of that sentence is the student thinks that he or she will not get good grade and the reason why he or she will not get good grade because he or she did not study. Last example for grammar structure is how to use sentence types correctly, like compound sentence...show more content... First example of this is that students must give the author of the resources they want to use credits by put the author's last name and the page number of the sources they found. Second example of how to use others' resources properly is that students must use the sources in different ways like student can paraphrase the quotes or they can direct quote the sources, but they should only quote a few sentences each times. Last example of how to use others' resources properly is that student must use correct information, information that within ten years from now, and must use a reliable sources from a legitimate Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. The Importance Of Intellectual Writing Writing is a skill that will help you succeed, regardless of your future profession. Most students would consider intellectual writing, as a means to pass the requirements that is needed to graduate college, but in fact, writing can lead to a lot of job and career opportunities. Most jobs require intellectual writing for business practice and scheduling appointments, some jobs offer more in terms of writing level. In a world that naturally keeps getting smarter, writing as a skill does not just set students for some writing major, but it prepares students for what's out there in the world. Most careers such as receptionists, financial counselors, surgical coordinator, and more, as previously it doesn't matter what your profession maybe writing serves as a skill that is a requirement to any career students may have. Other Benefits students may gain in terms of the working field is the growth of communication, communication which is led by a proper writing skill, can have workers socialize about there objectives and assignments, as it says on (page 1, paragraph 2)"In other words, students benefit from more exposure to writing instruction rather than less. In this case it clarifies that adapting to intellectual writing can serve as a learning experience for either students or job employees to be more open with a team or group. In the sense of communication, it doesn't necessarily mean your going to constantly write essays for major, but it may improve your speech and language. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. The Importance Of College Level Writing The importance of collegeā€“level writing is a topic that is very much backed up and accompanied by facts and studies. Writing in the collegeā€“level is needed in order to master college work in any class. Basically all classes require you to more than likely submit some kind of research paper or essay. Writing for Learning to Improve Students' Comprehension at the College Level by Fahad Alharbi as well as Luiza Costa Ribeiro, Writing Essays at College: Why it's Important both go into detail on how important writing at this level is and all the skills learned for during and after college. As well on how you can benefit from them. Students should care about learning how to write at the college level because it is part of the foundation of learning how to comprehend readings. Learning to understand any type of readings can help in the workplace as well as college. This is because the reader will be able to fully the grasp the idea of what is being told to to them. Therefore, the best way to learn this skill is being able to be a writer that knows how to "influence a student's comprehension"(Alhabri 2). • 6. The Importance Of College Level Writing Professional scholars have their own perspective on what college level writing is and how it is done. A various number of scholars believe that college writing consists of well articulate writing skills and having the authority to make your work dynamic in every aspect. Well articulate writing skills consist of knowing how to explain yourself with legitimate grammar, and having the authority is knowing automatically how you are going to write, and having the ability to write coherently. Scholars like Elizabeth Wardle and Donald M. Murray have explained what college levelwriting is in their knowledge and how to distinguish those writing skills in your essay. College level writing in Elizabeth and Donald's view consist of finding your identity. To start off, a professional scholar named Elizabeth Wardle believed that in college writing, it is important to find an identity in your writing. Finding your identity in writing is when the writer knows their limits, and they stick to who they truly are as a writer and not modify into something that they are not. In Elizabeth Wardle Identify, authorities, quotes she says, "To find their own unique identities within new organizations, new comers must choose levels and types of engagement; they must find modes of belonging" (Wenger 156). • 7. Reflective Letter Sample I'm writing this letter to tell you about my learning outcomes and experiences in your class. Let me start off by saying that 2017 has been the worst year of my life. Nothing went the way I wanted it to. I experienced so many different things and had been in so many wild situations. I had started losing sight of who I was as a young man which scared me. Until, your English 101 class. This class is one of the highlights of this whole year. I have learned so many things about myself in this class and it changed my overall perspective of life. I am a better me in all aspects especially mentally. Plus, I have developed my writing skills and became a better writer overall. I have changed so much as a writer throughout this quarter in your class. For example, coming into your class my conclusion was horrible and I knew it was because teachers told me this in the past, but never really told me how to fix it. Until you finally told me when writing your conclusion ask yourself "So What". This helped me so much and it shows on assignments like the Autoethnography. Like you always say, "If you know better, you do better". The biggest reason my writing skills have improved is because of the amount of writing we do in your class. I have written more papers in this class in one quarter than I have written in 4 quarters in my Honors English class last year. Crazy right? The fact of the matter is that practice makes perfect. The more I practice something the more flaws I will catch and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. My Essay On College-Level Writing Like you stated in your essay, no one is perfect at writing. That being said, I still enjoyed your essay. You described your experiences and opinions in a satisfactory way, and it was easy for me to understand what collegeā€“level writing means to you from reading your essay. The subject of the essay didn't get lost and you kept me interested throughout it all, even making me feel like I could relate to some of your experiences. I feel like you did a good job at portraying these experiences and you knew exactly what you were talking about. Many of the transitional phrases used, contributed to the cohesiveness within your paper. I also felt like I was given an insight into your past experiences and it was interesting to learn how your background shaped the way you currently view higher level writing. You did not miss the point of thisessay and I feel like you took your time to understand what was asked of you before you started writing and it definitely shows. It's always important to choose the correct sentence beginners, making sure they aren't stale...show more content... There were a few words that could have been written differently. This definitely didn't take away the quality of your essay, in my opinion, but sometimes, something as simple as going over the paper a few times to make sure our words have a space between them could improve the reader's experience by a great amount. To give you a few examples: "Had helped", "actually speaking", "thinking is", and "exactly informative" are all written together in the paper. Additionally, A few word choices could be improved and some words reduced or replaced. • 9. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the preā€“writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that preā€“writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the preā€“writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Essay About My English Class I can remember seeing that I had to take an English class my first semester of college. I was already overwhelmed with starting college, and having to write college essays made me get even more nervous. I sat down with my mom and decided to look at the English classes available, and I finally decided that I had to take an evening class to make it work in my schedule. The first day of English came and now looking back it was not as bad as I thought. It made me a better writer and be where I am today. It may have taken me some time to get where I am today, but at least I am on the right track. English Composition helped me realize that I am my own author and have strengths that I did not realize I had. When I first started college I did not know what to expect with an English class. I liked writing about topics that interested me, but high school did not allow me to do that. I took American History and we would have to write...show more content... I learned many techniques from my professor. He helped me realize that it is okay to have your own opinion as long as you back it up. He showed me that I am an author when I did not think I was. He also told us to read our essays out loud when we proofread, and I always did this technique before submitting all my essays. I can remember having to write my first essay and I was scared, because I felt like I had to get a good grade. I started thinking about what tools I could use to help me, and I decided to go to The Learning Center to help with my essay. When I went there they would make edits to my essay and then explain what I should change. The tutor noticed I used multiple choppy sentences and commas in spots there should not be. Sometimes I would even go twice to make sure I did not miss any minor mistakes. Going there helped me feel more confident as a writer and I learned from my mistakes. I had many helpful techniques from multiple people that shaped me into the writer I am Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Reflective Essay On English 101 Proficient writing is an essential skill in all aspects of academic and professional achievement. English 101, Introduction to Composition and Rhetoric, provided the framework to good writing, teaching me composition and rhetoric fundamentals, polishing up my grammar and style, and expressing a clear message. English 102, Composition, Rhetoric, and Research, continued to build on the skills I learned in English 101, focusing on the subject matter research process and employing various rhetorical and literary devices to better express a clear message to the reader. The course also improved my critical thinking capacity, allowing me to culturally evaluate my target audience, present logically flowing arguments using appropriate language and structure, and critically reviewing my writing projects for content and expression. Every writer inherently knows there's always room to improve and I hold fast to this mindset in all academic, professional, and personal writing projects. English 102 has both challenged and inspired me to grow into a much better writer than before I began the class, providing the necessary skills to be not just a good writer, but a great writer. Most of my English 102 writing projects are rhetorical arguments, intended to persuade the reader in one direction or another. Reflecting on the many skills I honed in English 102, my predetermined use of rhetorical strategies (ethos, logos, pathos), developing a concise thesis statement, and clearly defining Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Importance Of College Level Writing Collegeā€“level writing is frightening it's basically a wakeup call that you're growing up and writing essays will probably be applied in whatever you do. But it's important for us students to know how to write an essay properly, so it can benefit us in our future as students and in our future careers. It would be difficult for me to say that as a student, that when I first thought of college writing, I thought you write millions of facts down and call it a day. But collegeā€“level writing is a piece of writing of written work that should grab the reader's attention because as a college writer your written work should go more inā€“depth into the assigned topic. There are many examples that a college level writing piece should include, such as good research, sources must be listed, and the structure should be logical. Lots of experiences in my life made me realize the definition of college writing, for instance, writing essays through the years, reading articles, and having my own blog. The first thing my teachers always tell me when beginning to write an essay is to make sure to grab the reader's attention. This should be one of the main goals when writing a collegeā€“level essay. A writer should always try to grab a reader's attention, you can do this by having the idea, your audience has no idea or little information on what you're going to talk about. This can help the writer provide lots of detail and background information when beginning to write this article. For instance, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. My Experience In English Writing English is a core concept in the Untied States and other countries that has allowed inviduals to advance their knowledge. Not only does English provide an advancement in knowlege, but has created a way for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings through writing. Which is why English is one of the four subjects that is required to be taught in almost every school district in America including mine. I began taking English from a young age which allowed me to take advanced placement English IV my senior year at Tupelo High School. Advanced Placement English IV allowed me to further my education in writing, which in return allowed me to overcome obstacles, low points and discover strengths I never knew I had. Like any other thing in life there are always obstacles individuals face everyday, for me in my English IV class writing was something that was very challenging. The first challenge writing presented to me was trying to organize all of my thoughts, so that it made sense. The first essay I ever wrote in my English class was a journal entry about a memorable experience, so with that being said I decided I would write about the experience I had while hunting with my Dad. The hunting experience with my dad had many different parts, and one of my biggest challenges I had was organizing my thoughts, so that it flowed correctly. Since I was telling a story within my journal I realized that I was jumping around more then I should have and this became a problem. I learned Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. The Importance Of College Level Writing An area of confusion in the college world is what defines collegeā€“level writing. There are many possible answers to this question. Students may be confused about this issue because they want to know what is expected of them in their composition classes and the writing that they have to do in their other classes. All of us want to succeed when we get to college and writing makes up a big part of the college learning experience since we have to write in every class we have. Excelling in writing, and especially in writing at the college level, will help students succeed in college because of all of the writing involved in all of their classes. Before we write our papers however, we need to learn how to write at the college level and before that what collegeā€“level writing is. Collegeā€“level writing is something that requires more attention to content and quality than high school level writing, something that has varying expectations between colleges and professors, and something that requires the writer to actively participate in their writing to become better. Some students may believe that the work that they did in high school will be similar to the work that they do in college, but, "there is no guarantee that students who do well in high school composition will automatically do well in college composition" (Davies 31). A student that does excel in their high school writing classes may think that they know how to write at the college level and that they do not need to further Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Reflection Of Creative Writing It is my belief that through this class and the tools provided, that my growth as a writer has grown through leaps and bounds I would never have assumed possible. It is not so much the skill I refer to, although I would think skill has gone up in some levels as well, but more so the appreciation for the craft of writing itself. Intially, at the start of this class my sole goal was to further my understanding and appreciation of the writer's and books that I so love to read. Through further evaluation within the first week, a few other goals came to mind, of which were, making writing a habit, finishing what I start, stop second guess my writing skills and making effective use of detail and description. Through the use of the many articles, various reading materials, whether poems or short stories, and especially through the workshop, I feel I was able to really push myself to accomplishing these goals. I have thus far learned how important it is not to be skilled at writing per say, but to have the will to write, that poetry is as much about it's sound as it is about it's subject, just how important character development is, how the narration and point of view of a story is essential to the way the story is told, and just how much of a difference peer's critiques can make to your writing. Since before the beginning of this creative writing course, I have always struggled to find a point to writing. By this, I mean that I always felt that having great skill and talent was what was required to be a writer, let alone a great one. From this point, I felt there was no need to continue my writing as I felt that in a sense it just wasn't good enough. However, reading the article "A Way of Writing", I found new hope. Here was a writer who says things such as "I must be willing to fail. If I am to keep on writing, I cannot bother to insist on high standards. I must get into action and not let anything stop me, or even slow me much"(Stafford) and quotes that writers don't necessarily have any special talent. The article "Why I Write" instilled further optimism through the authors view on just being a writer, not focusing on being good or bad. I found her words in which she writes "entirely to find out what I'm Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. I Am Confident For My Writing Writing has never been my strong suit so I understood why I had been placed into EWRT 211. Before this class I had not written an essay since I was a junior in high school (six years ago). I have always struggled with writing, but it was not until my first diagnostic essay that I realized how terrible my writing skills were. Everything about the diagnostic essay screamed that I did not know what I was doing. Since then, I have noticed a vast improvement in my writing. This class has taught me how to become a better writer by creating stronger theses and by knowing why rough drafts are important to writing. Nevertheless, I still need to develop better strategies to manage my writing. I chose my essays, What Influences Teens To Become Adults and Resilience Among College Students, because they demonstrate my growth throughout this class. Even though I still need to improve on managing my writing, I am confident in moving to EWRT 1A because I have learned how to create strong theses, and how rough drafts have a great impact on my writing. Without a strong thesis an essay falls apart and fails to let the reader know what they are trying to say. For instance, in my rough draft Stop of Reality my thesis was very vague and did not meet the requirements for the essay. It stated, "Although the injustice that these [Native American] women face still continue to this day, the women these three tribes face...will slowly begin to see justice for the crimes that were committed upon them" Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. In teaching and learning English, there are two aspects that should be concerned. The first one is the language skills such as speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The second one is the language components such as vocabulary, and grammar. These two aspects are taught in order to make the students achieve the ability in communicating both in spoken and written forms. Writing is one of the four basic skills to be taught for the students. It is a way for students to express their idea and opinion. The important of writing can be seen in daily activities when they need to write short texts such as memos, invitation letters, sympathy notes, brochure, article, business letters, applications letter and many others. Through writing students can transfer their experiences and knowledge to others. So, they should be able to produce sentences and develop it into paragraphs and essays. It is active thinking process of the students to plan, arrange and express idea in order the text could be understood by the readers. A good writing helps avoid misunderstanding between the writer's idea and the reader's opinion. In senior high school, writing should be learnt by the students. Based on curriculum that is KTSP (kurikulum tingkat satuan pendidikan), one of the purpose of senior high school students in learning English is the students can develop communication competence in oral and written forms to achieve informational literacy level. In other words, in this level, the students are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. What Makes Good Writing? Essay This for me was a very hard question to answer due to the fact that its an opinion, and there are very many types of writing. Different structures, ideas, metaphors, and concepts. You have to remember to ask, whether the writing in itself is good in my point of view or not, has to answer to my specific guidelines which in your case might not be the same. The first and foremost of the many guidelines is how the author set's up the introductory sentence or better yet, the hook. If the author for example, is writing a cookā€“book, his first sentence should be appealing to the sense of taste. For example, If you are writing on how to bake a chocolate cake, you can sound appealing by saying, it will almost feel like you added a hint of heaven...show more content... Obviously the reader wont stay keyed in if you aren't, but I'm talking about making sense in a way where the reader can relate to you. Give an example of a situation that most people go through in everyday life. The main idea that authors need to keep with them is the power of the authors words relays only upon the reader. Another huge element in good writing is production. You can be interesting, you can sound great, but if your story is just not headed anywhere the reader will eventually lose focus and move on. Even if you have many details surrounding your story, try to focus in on the ones that play key roles. A lot of readers talk about how something happened more then why. I like to hear the reasons for why rather then for how because if you already know the climax of the story you really wouldn't wanna track your steps back, though informing the reader why can actually spice things up. The biggest factor that plays in good writing in my opinion is how much emotion the writer puts into his or her work. Honestly, a good reader will be able to tell how much effort was put into a writing from the first couple of sentences. If the reader gets a sense of the writing trying to force words into a sentence or trying to stretch out a page you will lose your reader right then and there. If you honestly believe in what you are writing and have interest in the subject matter the reader will be able to read between the lines and actually have a feeling of being there, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
