1. Murder Essay
Outside the town of Shelby Township, Indiana was a woman's body lying in the woods of a wildlife refuge. The body was stumbled across by a
wildlife refuge worker on September 6, 2010. It was covered in dirt and leaves when found on site. The victim was covered with 3rd degree burns
leaving very little room to determine the ethnicity. The hands and feet were shown to be missing and the tibia, pelvis, skull, humerus, and ribs were
retrieved. The hands and feet were never found but a knife was left with no blood or fingerprints left on the knife. This was believed to be a murder
case considering the hands and feet were chopped off in an unnatural way. The victim was found to be wearing a floral dress and a red clutch with no

The measurements of the found Tibia and Humerus, perfectly matched the estimated traits.
The ethnicity of this individual was determined, very thoroughly, through a series of observations and tests regarding the skull, and nasal cavity. The
patient is concluded to be of African American ancestry based on the percentage of results that match up with certain African American ethnicity
structural traits, such as, the shape of orbital openings and their nasal index. The nasal index of an the victim was calculated to be 0.85mm and the
normal expectations of African American ethnicity (>.53) point straight the conclusion that the victim is of African American heritage. The height of
an individual is most often determined by the examination of the long bones, such as the femur and tibia. In order to determine the height of this
victim, measurements of the Tibia and Humerus were collected, each were then calculated to form an approximated height. For a female of african
american background, the tibia was 35 cm long and calculated a height around 5 feet. After measuring the length of the recovered humerus (29 cm),
using a specific formula, the approximate height, for this skeleton, is about 4'8" to around 5'3".
Age, is not always the most accurate thing to determine in a forensic anthropology lab. Determining a person's age is dependent on many bones. At
birth, all humans have about 405 bones,

2. Abstract The following paper discusses the intricate differences between a mass murderer and a serial killer. The discussion of the mass murderer
and the serial killer is backed up with three points in which significant differences are depicted, the intention, the experiences in the earlier stages of
life and mass media. The three points will follow the ideals behind the murders and where that spark appear in a murderer's life. The mass murderer
will be depicted in the media and shown as being something influential, especially in the United States. The analysis of the three points will be backed
up with two case studies done by Elliot Leyton in his novel, Hunting Humans. The two cases that will back up the thesis statement of intention,...show

Henry Lee Lucas, who was said to have killed 300 hundred women, used the attention from mass media in order to show how much he wanted death.
Though lying about the number of murders, the amount he would tell showed how he wanted to prove himself and how much of a danger he was to
others. His intention of murdering lies upon the need to spread his want for a way out, an exit from the life of murdering which is through death.
Within Leyton's novel, he displays a desperate attempt to show people how much he wanted death and how screwed up his life is. His determination of
moving the media enough for death displays how he falls into the category of Leyton definition of mass murderer. When Lucas would discuss his
victims, the victims were close to an aspect that Leyton talks about in his work. Leyton depicts that, "although the mass murderer usually does not
know his victim...their selection is not random or coincidental. He often perceives his victims as having attributes which torment him" (Walsh, 7â2).
Lucas went after the loved ones he found to be similar to Leyton's quote. The disturbing aspect of going after family members, displays his desperate
need and attempt to want to end his life. The source of his torment was not enough and by lying about his number of victims, they fall under Leyton's
category of mass murderer. Serial killers are

3. Informative Essay On Murder
Good morning/afternoon Year 10s. Murder. A single simple word which still provokes thousands of emotions to swirl and huge debates to erupt. It is
an ongoing serious issue and thus, there are a countless number of articles written by the media on murder. In this generation of technology and new
innovations, we expect and assume that the news delivers 'fair, balanced and accurate representations of people, issues and events. However, now I
ask you, is this true? An example of how murder is presented in the media can be seen in the articles 'Esplanade death: Family 'threaten to kill'

In the first article, the victim; 'Patty Slater' is said to be 'found unconscious shortly afterwards with wounds to his chest, ankle and a deep cut to his
head' which were 'too distressing for court' giving the readers a horrifying image of the occurrence. The second article does not focus on any of the
injuries caused but magnifies on only the boy and his current situation, refusing to mention any information on the violence. For example, Daily
Telegraph writer reports on how the boy 'has only one soccer ball and allowed into the yard for only 20mins a day'. This convinces us, the audience
that he is still a normal child and makes us pity the poor childhood he is experiencing. In conversely, in the first wounds are described in detail but
with very little description of the boy's current struggles. Another example of how the media selects information is the use of oneâsided quotes and the
exclusion of others. In article one, quotes only from the victim's family are mentioned, especially the victim's cousin. Although in the second article,
the victim's mother's quotes are mentioned, the majority are from the boy's family friends. These two articles fail to present the opposition side and as
a result, the articles do not provide a fair report of the event. Examples of these

4. Murder, Manslaughter, And Justifiable Homicide
In the United States the degrees by which a person can be charged with killing another person vary; the degrees of murder include first, second, and
third degree murder, the definitions of which can vary in legal terms from state to state. These charges are considered to be legally separate from
voluntary manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter, and justifiable homicide which each have their own definitions (Cole, Smith, & DeJong, 2014).
Each type of murder, manslaughter and homicide is determined by intent and negligible behavior and each will be examined in this paper (Cole et al.,
2014).
Murder
First Degree Murder
Murder has not always been defined by degrees by which the act took place, before the separation began, murder of any type was a capital offense
punishable by death. The state of Pennsylvania in 1793 was the first state to legally distinguish different degrees of murder, possibly to reduce the
amount of murders that resulted in capital punishment (Levinson, 2002). In most states today, first degree murder is commonly defined as the
unlawful, willing, and premeditated murder of another human being committed with malice aforethought, which is used to indicate a person intended
to kill another person (Berman, n.d.). All states approach murder charges with variations on the same basic principle, intent.
Second Degree Murder
Like all degrees of murder, second degree murder varies from state to state however in general terms it is referred to as the unlawful killing

5. The Causes and Prevention of Murder Essay
You or someone in your family may have children who perform actions that can be indications of a potential serial killer. Most parents will ignore
these signs but they are no joke. Does your child like to harm small animals? Does your child live in an unstable family; is your child socially
awkward and isolated from everyone else? If you said yes to these questions, you may want to get more involved in your child's life. According to
many experts harming small animals, an unstable family, isolation from others, and bad mental health are the four main causes of murder but those
are not the only causes. To the surprise of some people, violent videogames are not one of the leading reasons of why someone decides to kill. From

An more modern example is James Holmes, the man responsible for the Aurora shooting. Even though he killed many he was different from Peter
Kurten only in the way that he didn't kill over time. James Holmes had schizophrenia, a mental disease many murderers seem to have. Revenge
and schizophrenia were a few examples of why a person decides to murder. Aggression during their childhood can lead a kid to repeat what they
see at home or school. If they live in an abusive home the chances are higher of them committing violent crimes. The geography in where they live
can be a small cause but not so much because a lot of mass murderers come from middle class families or higher. Usually people from lower income
families commit smaller violent crimes such as beating someone up due to territory and gangs. Even though there is many more cause of murder
there are also many ways to prevent it from happening to your children. Some indications to look at as a parent and/or guardian are to see how your
child acts around society. Being antisocial is one of the major things one should pay close attention to. Another indication is the way your child plays
with small animals. If they like to hurt or even kill small animals that is a red flag right away. An abusive home is usually the main cause of a child
turning into a delinquent. At a young age many children are physically and verbally abused

6. Female Incarceration For Murder Essay
In the early centuries, it was rare to hear about a woman who committed murder, or was incarcerated. However, times have changed, and it has become
somewhat of a norm in the twenty first century. According to Kravitz (2010), he states that according to a study conducted by The Institute on Women
and Criminal Justice, the number of women in prisons in 2006 is 105,000.
Studies have shown that the majority of these women are incarcerated for nonâviolent crimes, mostly related to drug related violations, however, a few
of these women are incarcerated for murder. In fact, some of these women, are doing life in prison for committing murder.

In "The Dying Detective," it explained that Sherlock Holmes was literally dying from the prick of poison. To add, it explained that Mr. Culverton
Smith was an expert on the poison that was injected into the ivory box; later we learned that Mr. Culverton Smith was indeed the one who injected it
into the box in the first place. In "An Invitation to a Murder," the crossbones on the prescription medication was believed to be a symbol of poison.
Additionally, all of the supplies on the center of the table were items that would typically kill a person; yet, none of those belongings killed Mr. Abbott.
Furthermore, both stories were premeditated murders. Mrs. Abbott knew that the twelve intelligent inspectors would prevent her from giving her
husband the suspicious medication. Therefore, Mr. Abbott's heart would stop beating and he would eventually die. On the other hand, Sherlock
Holmes planned out every detail of the situation and what would happen. He knew that Dr. Watson would be concerned about Mr. Culverton Smith
arriving and would like to stay. This created a witness for Mr. Culverton Smith confessing the crime he committed. Lastly, both of the passages had
evidence that exemplified situational irony. Mrs. Abbott was dressed in black to grieve the death of herself and her disabled husband. Moreover, the
investigators that were going to witness the murder, became the murderers. In the other story,

Crime is one of the most important social issue societies currently face. It is a very important issue that continues to erode our culture both
economically and morally. Crime is globalized; criminals often come from all segments of society with some believing that violence is an appropriate
response to dealing with conflict in their lives. Often the justice system is responsible for addressing such issues. Due to the severity of violent crimes,
such acts are generally treated more seriously by courts and prosecuting attorneys than other classes of crime. One of the most important types of crime

known for his bravery and courage as a soldier on the battlefield, and as a solider he is very familiar with killing people, which we later see throughout
the play. This shows thatMacbeth is solely responsible for the murders he commits throughout the play. Although, Macbeth may seem totally

Lastly, all influences aside, Macbeth is fully responsible for the murder of King Duncan. Without his wife pressuring him to take the crown, and the

A good law should be clear so both the judge and jury can apply it in a reasonable way, this makes it easier for the jury to follow and provides a

sentences. Consistency makes the law fair which is another important element of a good law. The law should reflect the degree of fault and punish

In Omissions the duty in certain relationships is solely case law, this means you must wait for a case to happen before you can know whether a duty
exists. This means the law might be flexible but it is not consistent. A possible reform would be to pass legislation setting out the situation where a
duty exists. However, it would be difficult to come up with a definitive list. The law commission report in 1993 suggests only omissions would count
in serious offences against a person.
For the mens rea there is a problem with the wording, "malice aforethought either expressed or implied". Lord Gibbord 1988 said "malice
aforethought" was misleading as you don't need to have malice (i.e. spite) or aforethought (i.e. planned or premeditated). The Mens Rea for murder is
interpreted as an intention to kill or cause GBH. This is a common law definition and is subject to change, making it flexible but also causing
uncertainty.
There are problems with intention also because it has never properly been defined and cases like Moloney and Hyam only set out guidelines and
judges tend to alter between the two. This causes confusion and uncertainty and leads to jury's verdicts being unfair and inconsistent. It also means that
the decision is opened up and leads to members of the jury being influenced by personal prejudices.
The mens rea of implied malice means a defendant can be convicted

Murder
Murder is the most vindictive crime society can commit. Society often wonders, what makes an individual want to commit such a crime. As
individuals in society, the belief of being born a murderer is false. No one is born a murderer; society gives birth to that murderer. In Ted Bundy's case
the lack of parental guidance and constant rejection of women contributed to him evolving into a vicious serial killer. Bundy was a man who let his
fantasies run his life, he believed that life was a game. All this contributed to making Bundy revengeful, bitter, and not quite mentally stable. The type
of murders this man committed was shockingly cruel and inhuman. In comparison to Clifford Olson, he too, would rape his victims before and...show

15. Serial Murder And Mass Murder
Before we can take on the definitions of serial murder and mass murder, we must first understand what exactly constitutes murder. According to the
United States Codeâsection 1111, murder is defined as the unlawful killing of a human being with malice aforethought (4). With that said, according to
the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the term serial murder implies that there are at least three different murder events at three different locations, with a
"cooling off" period between each event (Ramsland, 2009). Individuals who perpetrate the crime of serial murder are referred to as serial killers. The
term "serial killer" was coined in the midâ1970s by Robert Ressler, the former director of the FBI 's Violent Criminal Apprehension Program. He
chose the name "serial killer" because authorities in England called these types of murders "crimes in a series" (Freeman, 2007). John Wayne Gacy,
known as the "Killer Clown," who tortured, raped and murdered 33 men between 1972 and 1978 is an example of a serial killer. On the other hand,
mass murder is defined as four or more murders occurring during a particular event with no coolingâoff period between the murders. A mass murder
typically occurs in a single location in which a number of victims are killed by an individual (2). An example of a mass murder would be the 1995
Oklahoma City bombing perpetrated by Timothy McVeigh, in which 168 people were killed. While serial murder has a definition that contains certain

17. Personal Narrative: The Justification Of Murder
Murder isn't justified if someone does it out of "selfish" emotions or needs, or out of hate. However, murder can be justified if it's needed to survive.
People's emotions can get out of control, and sometimes that leads to committing a crime. In extreme cases, it could be murder. For example, there
have been a few cases where a man murders and rapes women as a result of them got rejected. Some people say that they weren't thinking straight, or
they might have been under influences like alcohol. Even if they weren't thinking straight, they shouldn't be excused from murder(and rape). Would a
court just excuse a drunk driver for the reason of 'they were under influence'? No, of course, they wouldn't due to the fact that there are laws against
drunk driving just like we have laws against murder. We shouldn't let murders that were caused by 'out of control' emotion be justified just like we
wouldn't do it to drunk drivers. Another example of this is serial killers H.H. Holmes, who killed women out of curiosity. He also did it for...show more

When people think about murdering someone to survive they probably think about selfâdefense, and they're correct. If someone attacks another person
to the point where they think they might die, and that murdering their it attacker is the only way to live then it's justified. I think it's justified because
humans flight or fight instincts kick in which might lead to murder. It's could be argued that we as humans over think how big the threat is and that
if they person might have been innocent that the murder was not justified. I can't disagree with them but we as human also have been killing since
forever. It was always for the same thing, to survive. We killed to eat, we killed to survive. That's just part of nature so when it comes down to it,
murder is justified when we need it to survive as long as it's the only option
